I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

This was an ok read which was pretty slow to get started then it started to get a bit more intense, great premise and some great twists

An enjoyable read though a little far fetched in places. A slow burner to start but then twists and turns that kept you guessing, and a great ending that you really don’t see coming at all !!

Ellie Gillespie is a taxi driver who takes a group on a hen night home. The bride is then found to have been murdered and laid out in her dress, like other women in the town.
Ellie teams up with a local journalist to figure out who is killing these women. This seems a bit of an odd choice, are there no police in this town?
There are a lot of red herrings in this book. Typical if a thriller, the author allows the reader to draw certain conclusions and then dismantles them.

SPOILER BELOW

My only major complain is that the ending felt slightly annoying as the killer is a late addition to the narrative.

I enjoyed The Bride Collector, which is an interesting read with some good twists. It is told from Ellie and Cormac’s points of view so the reader can enjoy the mystery of whodunnit and speculate alongside them. I liked that, although I must confess that I came nowhere near solving it as the perpetrator is a late addition to the cast. Nevertheless, I found their investigation absorbing and, in some ways, ingenious.
Gripping read

Great story, the unlikely pairing of a journalist and a taxi driver was the best. Investigating the murders was written with enough pathos to make you feel part of it.

Ellie Gillespie is a taxi driver in the tourist town of Kylebeggan. Women are being murdered and laid out in their wedding dresses. Ellie drives home a group on a hen and is shocked when the bride to be is found murdered and laid out like the rest. Ellie teams up with local journalist Cormac, but can they find the murderer before he strikes again😶

4⭐- having really liked the author's previous novel 'Guilty', I knew I'd like this one also! It's dark and twisty with a flavour of revenge, and a great summer read!

When a mysterious killer has started to leave bodies in Kylebeggan, taxi driver Ellie has been approached by local reporter Cormac and together they try to solve the crime.
This was such an atmospheric read. The descriptions of the town and area were really good at putting me in the scene. I loved Ellie but did find her slightly frustrating at times! Cormac was a brilliant character as well. Odd but came across with a tenderness.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for an advance copy of The Bride Collector, a stand-alone set in the fictional village of Kylebeggan in County Kerry.

Over the course of several months three women have been found dead, all dressed in their wedding dresses and murdered. Taxi driver, Ellie Gillespie, is horrified to learn that she drove the last victim home the night before. She teams up with local reporter, Cormac Scully, to investigate as neither has much faith in the local Gardai.

There is a fair amount of misdirection in the novel, starting with how Ellie became a taxi driver. The author allows the reader to draw certain inferences and only later corrects them. It’s well done. There is, perhaps, too much tragedy in the characters’ backstory to be wholly credible as not one seems untouched but it adds colour to the narrative so who am I to complain? I also thought the main solution is a bit lame, but the secondary one is a cracker.

The Bride Collector is a good read that I can recommend.

Claustrophobic, Atmospheric Suspense….
Killed in their wedding garb, laid out for all to see. Is a serial killer on a rampage in the small town of Kylebeggan, County Kerry? Claustrophobic, atmospheric suspense, extremely unsettling, often disturbing. Well written, deftly plotted with an excellent sense of place and a credible cast of characters. A tense read.

If you like your thrillers dark and twisty, this is the one for you. In Kylebeggan in Co Kerry, a woman is found dead, laid out in her wedding dress on her bed. Another is found in similar circumstances, then another. It’s particularly close to home for taxi driver Ellie Gillespie, who dropped the third woman home from her hen night. In a town that relies on holiday trade and a good name from tourists, this sort of publicity is to be avoided and, where possible, played down. The idea of a serial killer running around the town is not good for business. Ellie, however, has a few ideas about the culprit, and shares them with journalist Cormac Scully. The two will need to look to Kylebeggan’s past for answers – but what will they discover? And will the killer dubbed the Bride Collector strike again? It’s an interesting plot and you definitely feel on edge throughout, plus the idea of a small town makes it feel all the more claustrophobic. A definite and easy recommendation.
