One Night Only • Catherine Walsh

Sarah has one rule, one night only. As in she never keeps a guy longer then one night. When she goes to Ireland for her best friends wedding who would have thought that she would see her most recent one night stand half way across the world. Will Sarah stick to her one night rule or will Declan be the exception?

This book was a hidden gem! I really enjoyed it! I really enjoyed the way Catherine wrote it, it flowed very easily and with only one perspective I felt more interested in it.
Sarah and Declan are great together! Their banter and little jabs back and forth reminded me of my relationship so it made the book that much more enjoyable!
This book reminded me a little of the movie Leap Year with the setting in Ireland, wedding and even Declan’s name!
I’m looking forward to more books from Catherine!

One Night Only is funny and adorable romantic comedy. I enjoyed it since beggining and coudn’t put it down. It reminded me why I love rom com so much. Sarah and Declan are great protagonists- they are likable with sence of humor. I enjoyed choice of places- especially the Ireland.
And just like Sarah even I have tuxedo thing, ehm...

Sarah Anderson is not interested in relationships. One morning she wakes up with the Irish hottie, Declan Murphy, next to her in her bed. She quickly kicks him out of her NYC apartment and goes on with her life. A few weeks later, Declan turns up at the same wedding in Ireland. A wedding where Sarah is the maid of honor and Declan is the groom’s brother. Sarah doesn’t date, and she never she’s the same man twice, what’s a girl to do?

This was a fun romcom with a wedding in the Irish countryside and finding love in NYC. I loved Sarah and Declan characters and Sarah’s friends. It was also a nice change of pace with Sarah having fear of the commitment, not the male character. I enjoyed seeing the blossoming of their relationship and was rooting for them every step of the way.

If you enjoy rom-coms, I think you would love this one!

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for my copy in exchange for my honest review.

Sarah has been unlucky in love and has now reached the point where she has sworn off relationships altogether. Instead, she much prefers to have a no strings attached one night stand – something that cannot possibly end up in heartache. This has worked for her so far, but just before Sarah packs her bags and leaves for Ireland for her best friends wedding, she hooks up with a man who she is unable to get out of her head.

Declan is charming, funny and incredibly handsome, and he certainly knows how to keep Sarah on her toes. But Sarah is determined to stick to her plans, and before long she is boarding the plane from NYC to Ireland with the hopes of hooking up with a gorgeous groomsman to take her mind of Declan- but as fate would have it, their paths soon cross again as Declan turns out to be the brother of the groom.

With one whole week in Ireland with the man who has already captured her attention more than most, will Sarah make it through the wedding without feelings developing between the pair?.

As soon as I read the description for this book I just knew it would be a story that would have me hooked. The storyline combines the perfect levels of humour and romance to provide us with the perfect rom-com. The characters are realistic and relatable, with each of them adding something new to the story. Sarah is one of those characters you find yourself rooting for from the off. Despite her rather cynical outlook on matters of love, it was an absolute joy to watch her journey as she began to open herself up to the possibility of finding love again.

The romance between Sarah and Declan was far from smooth sailing, but that is what adds to the charm of their story. Both of them have their own insecurities to let go of, and as they try to navigate the trick waters they find themselves thrown in to together, we are given some truly hilarious moments, alongside those that melt your heart.

I could talk about this book all day long, but I will finish by simply saying that I adored this gorgeous story.

This book was sexy, funny, and witty. I personally found the Irish humor harder at some points, but overall I really liked this one! Definitely buying myself a physical copy!

A great light heated fun read. Gorgeous setting of Ireland and New York. I really liked the premise of running into your one night stand at a wedding in a different country and it lived up to its promise. The story extended a fair way after that but a great read

This was an easy-breezy read that made me smile and blush at almost all the pages. It was also extremely witty at times and made me laugh out loud. We see our protagonist flying out to Ireland to attend her best friend's Irish wedding only to discover her one night stand as the groom's brother. As much as she wants to run away from him, she fauls to do so. Time and again they're faced with each other only to experience this burning tension between them.
It was an extremely enjoyable read and didn't feel boring even once. Highly recommended for everyone who loves rom-coms.

It was not what I expected. First big dissapointment was that the story mostly happens in New York. From the official blurb, it seems that the whole thing is about this cool Irish wedding, although it isn't. And then the book actually goes on for months and months after the actual wedding. Declan was really annoying for me. I get that he's always joking, but can't he ever be proper serious? And why is everyone addicted to his amazing Irish accent? I just don't get it. Joking is one thing and straight ot lying is completely another. It feels like being cheated for the sake of word count. Declan rambles for a whole page, and then we learn that it was all lies and then Sarah is grumpy for another page. What I did like about his character though was his backstory. The concept wasn't too bad, though there was no proper reasoning behind it. As for Sarah, I still don't understand her. At one point, she hates Declan, then she's in love, and towards the end, she's just a drama queen over-reacting way too much. The side characters were really confusing too. Will was just weird I don't know why he was there in the firs place. And then there was Josh. The worst written character. It took me like ten chapters to know who he is and what happened to him. Walsh does write well, but her plotting and character building was missing a lot. I'm hoping her books improve in the future as this was just her debut. I might read another of her works in the future, but no promises.

One Night Only....that's all it took for me to finish this book!

This debut novel by Catherine Walsh was a hidden gem in my NetGalley shelf! Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers at Bookouture for this eARC.

One Night Only and I was sad this book ended! I love a good page turner and this one did not disappoint. Readers will fall in love with Sarah & Declan.
Sarah is strong, determined, focused on her work as an architect in the city and has sworn off relationships...she isn't looking for love just one night stands.
Declan is good looking, has an irresistible accent, funny...and isn't interested in one night stands.
Is it true...do opposites attract? These two are certainly complete opposites, but in the most complimentary way.

Sarah is thrilled to be heading to Ireland to serve as the maid of honor in her best friends wedding. All of her packages arrived safely with one being a SURPRISE! Imagine Sarah's shock when she shows up to see her latest one night stand there serving as the Best Man! Trust me it just keeps getting better, but again I'm not a fan of spoilers. I will say this though, if you shy away from romances because sometimes they can be filled with "too much"....this one does not contain any explicit material, is incredibly well written and is the perfect summer read! Enjoy!

It was an easy choice of 5 stars for me!

Rating edit: 4.5 stars.

It's funny and entertaining, and romantic in a very interesting way.

Writing style is engaging that keeps you hooked. The characters and situations are relatable. Loved the protagonists, particularly, Declan, and I really enjoyed their repartee. The dialogues are witty, and so interesting that I was actually wondering what they were going to say. Apart from the protagonists, I really liked Will.

Everything about this book was enjoyable, so much that I wanted to finish it in a single sitting, but of course, gone are those days, but I really wanted to get back to the book whenever I took a break.

OK, I thought epilogue was unnecessary.

Overall, a very entertaining read. Loved it! One of my favourite reads this year.

t has been ages since I’ve gotten so hooked on a story, on a pair of characters (or I guess in a whole group of characters) that I actually fly through the book like a hungry miss pac-man. One Night Only brought some fresh fun and romance to my life this weekend and it deserves its corresponding good review.

Sarah is a commitmentphobe who is living her worst nightmare, her one-night stand turns out to be Declan, the brother of her best friend’s fiancé. That puts both of them into all kinds of awkward and hilarious situations they can’t escape.

Now of course this had the potential to be wonderfully messy, but both Sarah and Declan are so funny and wonderful that I just wanted them to turn out to be perfect for each other. So I spent a few hours completely engrossed in what was one of the most fun books I’ve read in a while. I am so totally reading whatever Catherine Walsh puts out next. Until then catch me wearing my copy of One Night Only down to the bone.

An entertaining ride that kept me turning the pages until the end. Sarah is in for a wake-up call, and his name is Declan. She only had one need for man in her life, and it wasn't for any long-term relationship. In fact, a past heartbreak has damaged her to the point that she doesn't let any guy get close. Until Declan. And it's not that she doesn't make the guy work for it! But it doesn't help that he irritates the heck out of her and vice versa, but the two of them keep getting pushed together. Eventually something needs to break--doesn't it? Guess you'll need to read the book to find out what happens between the two of them.

Thank you to Bookouture, NetGalley, and the author for the advanced reading copy.

This book gripped me from the very beginning! It's so freaking fun! Sarah is Annie's best friend and her maid of honor. She is incredibly excited about that and the fact that it's going to be in Ireland! Except, when she gets there, the groom's brother is her last one-night stand! And as if that wasn't enough, he doesn't leave her alone and keeps trying to embarrass her! Could it get any worse?!

I really enjoyed Sarah for how relatable she is. She is afraid of compromises due to a bad breakup and the divorce of her parents. So she opted for another way that would break her further - one-night stands. But this time things didn't really go as planned. Enter, Declan! I freaking loved him. He is incredibly funny and easy going. You can see he has his demons but overall he has such a charming personality! I loved seeing them together bickering and learning about each other. I couldn't stop reading and smiling for how cute it was.

I also really liked Annie's and Sarah's friendship. They were so important to each other and I could feel it through the pages. They are very different and that made it even more interesting. Sarah is forward and is not afraid of showing who she is and taking what she wants. While Annie is more shy and more cautious.

I loved that there was a lot more to their story than just the romantic aspect. It really made it not only more relatable with all that was happening but more exciting and complex. And I mean who doesn't want to read about a big messy Irish family? I know I do.

I found the plot really interesting and although at times I could guess what was going to happen, it was still entertaining and a lot of fun! I really liked the humour and I laughed quite a bit with this one. Especially due to Declan! Did I mention I loved him??

The writing was easy and gripping and the development was just what I needed at the moment. It's an easy and fun book that I could see myself re-reading.

This story was funny, entertaining and an absolutely perfect beach read. I fell in love with Declan and eventually came around to liking Sarah also (although her commitment issues were HUGE!). The settings, the cast of characters, and the situations they find themselves in were so engaging that I didn't want to put this down. Definitely exceeded my expectations as when something is billed as really funny or laugh out loud comedy, I usually don't agree but this one was hilarious in all the right places.

Sarah knows how to play the game. After a past heart break she’s notorious for the old love ‘em and leave ‘em approach.

Things change when she meets Declan. What I though would fall into the all familiar troupe of romantic comedies turned into something funny, unexpected, and a book I didn’t want to end.

After a pretty successful one night stand, Sarah finds herself in Ireland as the Maid of Honor at her best friend’s wedding, with the hottie as the Best Man. Surviving the trip is one thing, but seeing as they both live in the same city is another.

Carefully dancing around each other during the wedding week, the real fireworks start when they both head back home, and infiltrate each other’s lives in ways neither would have ever imagined.

Love, loss, heartbreak, and life changes all bring our protagonists together. This is such a charming story, I hope you get a chance yo read it!

🌹One Night Only Review 🌹

After reading the description of this book I just knew I had to read it! It is such a light-hearted rom-com that had me playing the scenes in my head like a film 🎥 I couldn’t believe it is Catherine’s debut novel it’s just brilliant ❤️

Declan and Sarah’s characters are just funny, annoying and loving! I loved the depth that these characters had along with the secondary characters like Annie and Paul plus the relationship that Sarah had with these was great! Plus the story itself was just a lovely read, I mean any story that has a sexy Irishman and Ireland in it is a winner for me so 😅

I honestly couldn’t put this book down and it will definitely be on my re-read list for many years to come! I can’t wait to see what Catherine has to come next ❤️💙

A fun read! I loved the initial concept but do wish the wedding part of the story was more fleshed out. The Irish countryside is a beautiful setting and I loved Declan's family dynamics, I feel like the awkward situation between Declan and Sarah could have been better utilised for more of those rom-com worthy moments. But, I still loved Declan and Sarah's dynamics even back in NYC and they had some great moments together. Kinda sad there was no retribution for Matthias' stealing ways though!!

Now, as a woman of a certain age, ahem, I am pretty sure I am not the preferred demographic for this novel. That would be women around my daughter's age. However, that being said, it was a pretty good book and I did end up doing a lot of chuckling.

Sarah has a one-night stand with a lovely Irish guy. He doesn't seem to want to move on the next day, but she is a busy girl and needs to get on with her day. OK, that's done. Then she goes to a wedding, in Ireland, where there are a lot of handsome men to pick from with wonderful accents. However, why is Declan there too?

A lovely story of a woman who is not looking for a relationship and a man who is complex and just an all-round interesting and nice fella. I really loved Sarah's friend Will who does snarky beautifully :)

4 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

3.5 stars, round to 4 stars

So many good things are happening in this book, I found it to be very soothing to read. It's almost like I could feel my serotonin levels shooting up with every page I read. I just wish that the ending would have been slightly different but overall it's a read that will put you in a good mood.

It had me from the blurb but then it’s gives you Ireland, Irish accents and New York - some of my favourite things. To top it all off who doesn’t love an Irishman in New York. As I listened I loved how you could really picture what it would be like to live in New York. Each of the characters are the type of people you want in your group of friends. Sarah takes no prisoners and I loved her straight talking attitude and Declan… ah Declan I might just marry him if I wasn’t already married. I think Catherine Walsh did such a good job portraying his character as he’s exactly what you expect a typical Irishman to be like. So glad I choose it on audio as it was great to hear the Irish accents and sayings and there was a few laugh out loud moments. Really enjoyed it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to listen to and review this ARC thats due to be published on the 30th if July.
