To take part in a season, and enjoy all the glitz and glamour than London has to offer, would sound like a dream for most people, but not Miss Miriam Bathurst. She would much prefer to stay in the country, reading and caring for her younger sister, but when her father died, leaving the family in debt, and having to let the servants go, she knows she is the only one who can make a good marriage, and find a husband who would help her take care of injured Whitney, and get her the treatment she deserves. And when she arrives in London, she's intrigued by it all. Her aunt and uncle are fantastic, and she's completely amused by her aunt's American ways, and the balls and the social events are a hoot. But when it appears that she has come between the handsome Earl of Ashington, and his vindictive younger brother, Nicholas Compton, Miriam needs to have her wits about her to make it through unscathed.

Now, I haven't read a book by Abbi before, neither do I think I've read a historical romance in first person. I did like this book, but it wasn't one that blew me away, and even though it was only 185 pages, it's seemed to drag for the first half or so. Hugh, the Earl of Ashington, needs a wife to be mother to his young ward, Emma, and to start creating heirs for the title. He has very little to do with his half-brother, Nicholas, who despises him for his perceived treatment of his mother, Hugh's stepmother. Hugh initially has his eyes on the perfect English rose, Miss Lydia Ramsbury, who, though boring, would be a perfect countess, and Nicholas wants to draw her away, and get his revenge. But Miriam takes them both by surprise, and with her breathe of fresh air attitude, it's clear they're smitten. I don't really like love triangles, and didn't in this case either. Nicholas was annoying, and there wasn't any redeeming qualities or scenes. He only wanted revenge, and though he had moments of regret that he could hurt Miriam, he didn't really care. Hugh was aloof to start off with, but as the book progressed, and we saw more of him, Emma, Miriam, and the other characters, it definitely picked up, and made the book. An okay regency read.

I was intrigued with Glines doing a regency romance story and I really enjoyed what she delivered. It was emotional, passionate and so much more. I really enjoyed Miriam and her backbone. She follows her heart and I adore that about her. Emma will just invade your heart and you will adore her. I also enjoyed Nicholas and Lord Ashington as the leading men because they gave something different and added depth to the story. This is one of those stories you will just get wrapped up in and devour it.

As a huge fan of Abbi Glines, I was so excited to read her version of a regency England story - and it did not disappoint! Abbi's novels are normally set in and around Alabama, so it was really interesting to see how she would adapt her style to historical fiction.

Glitter definitely had shades of Bridgerton in it, but I would say this more focused on the human side, rather than the pomp and ceremony of the time. Miriam was a delight to get to know, and I hung on every step of her journey. After moving to London to find a husband, we meet Miriam's Uncle and Aunt - the fabulous Lady Wellington, what a joy! - and Nicholas Compton, Lord Ashington and the adorable Emma.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and love to read more historical fiction from Abbi Glines!

I really enjoyed this novel! Abbi Glines is an established author. Glitter was one of her best books by far. I was really impressed with this novel compared to some of her others. It felt very developed and the characters were more flushed out than her other novels. I did enjoy the familial aspect of what the main character was trying to do for her family.

I love abbi and to say that I devour all of her books would be an absolute understatement so when I heard about this beauty I had to devour it! It’s different then her usual stories but still as amazing

This is probably the most refreshing Abbi Glines book I've read in a while. Whilst I haven't read any historical romance before, I did enjoy this one. I got huge Bridgerton vibes and I was very curious to see how things would play out in this little triangle that was going on.

Abbi has taken her own style to historical writing, as she advises in an author note at the start of the series, but given that I haven't read any historical romances previously, this was really not something that I noticed, but I appreciate the note she made at the start of the book as I believe that many fans will too.

Miriam and her Aunt and Uncle were really likeable characters in this, and I thought they brought the character and personality that was needed. If these guys didn't have so much personality, this would've been a much more boring read. Nicholas Compton was one that I really just didn't like, and Lord Ashington I found to be fairly likeable, just not really knowing how to approach things in the right way, especially given society values at the time. Emma was a cheeky little character that added a bit of fun into things as well.

Overall this was an enjoyable read, and I would read more like this by Abbi if she chose to continue with more historicals in the future.

I have read a lot of Abbi Glines books, but this one wasn't for me.I tried something new, and it didnt work for me. It fell short for me in many ways.

Really enjoyed this title though I thought the ending was a bit jarring. Would have liked to see more of a resolution between Miriam, Ashington and Compton before jumping to the epilogue. Really enjoyed the characters and the world they inhabited. Especially Miriam's "take no prisoners" attitude. Will be curious to see if maybe other characters from this may get a book?? I would really love to read that.

This book was just moving too slow for my liking. At this point I've pretty much lost interest in it. Maybe I'll try to pick it up at some point in the future but for now I'll pass.

An excellent surprise! I knew the author for her writing in new adult and contemporary romance and I did not expect this quality for a first historical romance. It is well written and Myriam delights our hearts as well as her two suitors... The plot keeps the suspense almost to the end and it's just delicious! Even if it's a bit short.

I was SOOOOO excited to get Glitter! This is Abbi's first Historical Fiction and it hit the spot!

Miriam is an incredible woman, she stuck true to who she was and didn't let society or it's expectations influence her decisions.

Little Emma...so bold and blunt and it was amazing reading how much she keep adults on their toes!

Lord Ashington...I adore the fact that he even took in Emma no matter where she came from and her interests in mind from the start. A true parent.

Nicholas....I didn't love him immediately, but I felt for him through the book and found myself switching between liking him/feeling for him and disliking him. The epilogue made me like him even more.

In ‘Glitter’ we meet Miriam, a young woman looking for a husband to make sure she can take care of her mother and little sister. Miriam has been taught the rules of finding the perfect husband. But she really isn’t the kind of girl who enjoys spending time in the marriage market. And when Miriam meets the Earl of Ashington she knows for certain this isn’t really her place.

Hugh, the Earl, is known for his arrogance and definitely not someone Miriam enjoys spending time with. But as always, there is a reason for Hugh’s ways and there is a lot more to his character than you would imagine in the beginning.

‘Glitter’ was a book I definitely enjoyed. The main character Miriam was one I liked, and I enjoyed the historical aspects and the balls. Since this was the authors first regency novel, I really think she did a great job. I was totally pulled into the world of regency England.

This was a very fast paced book that definitely kept me intrigued. Things moved fast, maybe even a bit to fast at times, and it never got boring.

But I also had a few problems with this book. The first one was the love triangle. Boy do I dislike love triangles. I just don’t get them. I probably should have known this book had a love triangle in it by reading the book blurb, but I didn’t. And in this book I also really didn’t like the love triangle part. Which made it a little difficult to love the romance at all. The characters missed chemistry in my opinion. Luckily for me I did like Miriam and Hugh’s characters so that made up for it a bit.

Overall, ‘Glitter’ was a fun read but not one I loved as much as I’d hoped.

Abbi Glines took me for a complete ride in Glitter. This book was set up perfectly and allowed for Abbi’s unique voice to create a beautiful story. When I see she was writing a historical romance novel I was nervous, but like always Abbi sweep me away. I enjoyed seeing her get out of her comfort zone. I’m not fan of historical romance, but Glitter made me think again. The romance that was building from the very first encounter with Miriam and Nathaniel was the reason why I couldn’t put the book down. Full of passion, desire and so many twist you need to pick your copy up Today.

Abbi is the first author I read when I started reading romances so it was good to revisit her as she takes on this new venture of writing historical romances. Glitter was absolutely delightful from beginning to end with everything you could possible need in a romance set in this era. Not one but two leading men to swoon over and a take no nonsense heroine who knows what her responsibilities are to her family but who refuses to compromise when it comes to her own happiness.

As Miriam Bathurst arrives in London for the season, or as it is better known as the marriage market she is looking for a husband to provide for her mother, sister and herself. She is lucky enough to be staying with her Uncle and his American wife who are willing to escort her to see and be seen by the ton. Aunt Harriet is hilarious, does not take British society rules seriously and is the perfect wing woman for Miriam who is herself not impressed by London society. She meets the dashing Lord Ashington who is hot and cold with is advances towards her. She also meets his rakish younger brother Nicholas who is planning revenge against his older brother by enticing away any woman that his brother might be considering for a wife.

I am not one to usually read historical romances, but I had to read this one and I was enthralled from beginning to end. Abbi managed to capture this period in time perfectly from the glitz and glamour of the society balls and the flirting to the beautiful dresses and the rakish men, and who knew that there would be such intrigue in polite society?

This book really is a treat that you will not want to put down.

The Earl of Ashington is looking for the perfect Countess, but he can't take his eyes off the most beautiful woman in the Hall, Miriam, but she doesn't fit the profile of his perfect Countess and Miram attracts his brother's interest, and they hate each other.

At the beginning of the book I felt a sense of pride and prejudice, because the Earl of Ashington is all rich and proud like Darcy, with a mix of the Bridgertons series, the balls and the search for the perfect marriage. But then the story formed a love triangle, and until halfway through the book it's pretty hard to know which brother will be her romantic partner.

The Ashington brothers hate each other and are involved in revenge and fighting for the love of the same woman, who can be hurt by being in the middle of this fight. We don't know who the villain is and the motives of the hate between the two of them and that's what motivates you to keep reading the book.

However, I didn't feel chemistry between any of them and that's Abbi's strength in creating couples with incredible chemistry, and I didn't feel that here. Another factor I missed was sex, which is striking in books of the genre and in the author's books.

It's a very light romance that focuses on revenge and plotting. It's a short book and good to pass the time.

Yet Miriam soon realises that these two men are brothers, whose dislike for each other is evident, and begins to understand that she may be a pawn in their games.
Hugh Compton, the Earl of Ashington, has reluctantly gained a title, and realises that he must marry. Yet his half-brother Nathaniel has sworn to steal any potential bride from him. Yet it soon becomes apparent that Hugh is no longer interested in Lydia Ramsbury but Miriam. However, Nathaniel is also half in love with her, himself.
I am so thrilled to have found another amazing author. What sets this book apart is the ability of the author to tell the book in the first person, and reveal the main characters, Miriam, Hugh and Nathaniel’s point of view, so clearly. I loved delving into their personalities and also their impression of each other. In many ways, this showed the characters to be quite multi-faceted, a feature not always evident in other books. I loved Miriam, for her ability to see beyond the superficial nature of the ton and to rise above her difficult childhood. Likewise, Hugh was the utter gentleman, and I could understand the attraction between him and Miriam. Yet Nathaniel’s character is the one that showed greater depth and understanding, then Miriam and Hugh could understand. Together, these characters make for such a great read. I so look forward to more by Abbi Glines.

This was the first time I have read a story by Abbi and I really LOVED it and looking forward to other books written by her.
The story is narrated from different point of views shifting between Miriam , Ashington, and Nicholas. And I admired that because it helped me understand each character better.
Honestly, at the beginning I thought that the story will end up with a love triangle a thing that I don't often enjoy reading. However, when I kept on reading I figured that Abbi had a purpose in every event mentioned in the plot. And I must say I got shocked at the end! Although the story is slow paced but I actually loved it because I had enough time to enjoy the description of each event and character.
I hope there will be another story for Nicholas and Whitney!
Finally if you love historical romance, revenge, and arranged marriage tropes then Glitter definitely suits you!

This is an enthralling “keeper” ! their brilliantly crafted expressive prose drew me in from the beginning and held me fast till the end. The characters vaulted off the pages straight into my heart and kept me thinking about them long after I turned the last page. I fell in love with them immediately.

This review seems like it has been on my mind all night. Wow! It’s simple word but with deep emotion that Abbi has pulled from me! She wrote this book and it is really magnificent. She writes such characters with so much depth and they all come with there own afflictions. It is a must read, I couldn’t put it down.

I fell hard for Lord Ashington! Miriam Bathurst reminds me of Lily James they way that her beauty is described. And Nicholas Compton let just say I’m quite surprised by the ending.

Is there another on the way? The way she wrote it could be interpreted as there is another story to tell! But no promise was made!
