Now i'ts been a minute since I've read a book by this author and every other book I've read from them have been contemporary, but that being said, they have rarely missed. Now to discover not only is this a historical, but a first person, duel POV historical? How could I not give it a try. And I'm really glad I did, Now historical romance isn't always my jam, but when it's good, like this is, it slaps. I was entertained and enchanted from page one and I'm a little bit in love with like 99% of these characters. A big but surprising win. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and Next Step PR for the opportunity to read and review an early copy. All opinions are my own.

Job well done Abbi! I greatly enjoyed this new historical romance.

I loved Miriam and her personality. Strong willed and her devotion to her family was admirable. Lord Ashington turned out to be a great man that proved worthy of her affection. Their chemistry was so good! Lady Wellington was a hoot and Emma was a breath of fresh air with her mischievous behavior and youthfulness.

Miriam had been taught she must land a wealthy husband even though she prefers the company of books to people, the only thing that stopped Miriam from fleeing to the countryside was her younger sister - who was counting on Miriam to make a match that would ensure she could care for her mother and sister properly.

Hugh Compton, Earl of Ashington gained his title two years ago when his father died unexpectedly. The only good that had come of that was Hugh had been able to move his father’s wife to the dowager house. His step brother Nathaniel swore he’d even the score. With the intent of charming the boring Lydia Ramsbury right out of his brother’s arms, Nathaniel discovered it was a new face that had captured his brother's attention - a one Miss Miriam Bathurst.

This is a total new direction by Abbi Glines who writes mostly contemporary romance. This is an interesting read. I do like Miriam and the conflict was resolved nicely. The male characters were harder to like but eventually become likable.

Thanks to the publisher for providing an arc.

Glitter is Abbi Glines first historical novel, written in the first person… Miriam is sent into London society with only one goal on her mind to find a suitable husband not only for herself but to give her a little sister the life she’s so deserves. The Earl of Ashington is looking for a mother for his secret child, well Miriam is everything he never knew he wanted could she be the proper society wife?
Enter the Duke’s brother who wants revenge on him and his plan is to use Miriam to get it.

The characters in this book made this book, Miriam, Nicholas, Whitney Aunt Harriet, Emma …I hope this continues into a series and we get to read more about these wonderful characters.

After her father's passing Miriam learns quick that the families livelihood has now landed on her shoulders. Her mother insists that a husband for her would be the thing to save them, and get them out of poverty. Although Miriam isn't completely sold on the idea. Then she talks to her little sister and realizes it's not all about what she wants or needs, she must marry for money and prestige, and forget about marrying for love.

When she arrives at her uncle's house and sees what all that this marriage business entails she realizes that she is in over her head, but her aunt assures everything will be alright. And she starts to believe that... that is until she meets her suitor, and his revenge-seeking brother!

Between the pages of Glitter readers will be transported to England, and taken on the admirable journey of a young girl in search of a better life. As Miriam settles into her new normal we start to see her embrace a life she never thought she would have. In her mind marriage always involved love and happiness. But she soon learns that those two things aren't so important to her impending husband. Desperation has lead her here, but will it be strong enough to keep her rooted? Can she really go against everything in her heart and let her head lead her astray?

Just as the author took a chance on something new, I did the same. I am not normally a historical romance reader, as it is usually not my cup of tea. But I know Ms. Glines work, and I knew she would give me something that I would love no matter what era or style it was written in. She would put her one of kind twist on things, create words that touched my heart and characters that would leave a mark... and she did just that! I absolutely loved what I found waiting between the pages here. I highly recommend you take a chance on this one, these characters will find their way into your heart in a matter of a few pages!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Glitter by Abbi Glines was a beautifully written Historical Romance. I fell in love with Miriam. Her strength and love for her sister, willing to do what ever she had to so her family would have the life they deserved just melted my heart. She hadn't been given love her whole life but she shined with her heart full of love. I absolutely loved little Emma. How could you not love that little firecracker? This book does have a HEA and I loved it so much. I highly recommend this book!!!

Glitter is a thoroughly entertaining, tremendously written historical romance set in Regency England.

I've read many books by this author, all contemporary. When I found out about Glitter, I knew I'd be reading it as soon as possible.

I loved it! The writing style, as always, is amazing. The plot gripping enough, it moves smoothly and at a nice pace. But it's the characters for me. Miriam and Emma simply stole the show.

Hugh and Nathaniel are stepbrothers, and while one has every intention on marrying, the other hates him so much he'd do anything to sabotage it. But none of them are ready for Miriam; charming, kind, loyal, level-headed, drop dead gorgeous Miriam.

There are also secondary characters who only add to the sweetness to the story; her sister, aunt and uncle, and of course Emma. She's four years old and the sass on her... It was so funny!

Everything combined made Glitter amusing, entertaining and enjoyable.

If you love historical romances with independent and intelligent heroines, pick this one up.

Miriam Bathurst, 18, reluctantly leaves behind her beloved 12 year old sister Whitney, who walks with a limp due to a fall from a horse, to move to London with her Uncle Alfred and Aunt Harriet. After their father passed away, the girls were left with his huge gambling debt and a mother who doesn't pay much attention to either of them. Though Miriam is being sent to London for the marriage mart, she would much rather spend her time reading and writing novels. However, Miriam knows that the only way to support Whitney and her mother is to find a husband, and she is willing to do anything for her sister. Though she misses Whitney, Miriam finds her Aunt Harriet, an American, to be a real hoot and someone with whom she loves to spend company. She also feels a sense of pride from her Uncle Alfred, something she never once felt from her cold, insensitive father. After Miriam makes her appearance with the ton, it seems there are two young men both hoping to make her their bride. The only problem is that the men are half brothers, fiercely competitive, and both devilishly handsome. Lord Ashington has all the women charmed, but he only has his sight set on Miriam, her beauty and spunk captivating his attention. His half brother, Nicholas Compton, however, is merely trying to ruin Ashington's chance with Miriam, so he begins calling on her as well. Though Compton knows how to impress Miriam, she can see through his game and know he is not courting her for the right reasons. As the half brothers come to call on Miriam, often running into each other, the story becomes rather humorous. And it seems that Lord Ashington is hiding a bit of a surprise from Miriam. A surprise that really makes this story so much more special, in my opinion.

If you are having a Bridgerton hangover and need something to tide you over until the next season is released, then look no further. Abbi Glines has outdone herself, writing a historical regency romance that is both well-written and fabulously researched. This is a slow burn romance with plenty of drama. I also love the huge role that sibling relationships play in the story, whether through the loving relationship of sisters Miriam and Whitney or the combative one of Lord Ashington and Compton. I would highly recommend this entertaining story of elegance, family, and romance.

Thank you for the ARC!
Love the genre switch for Abbi.
First of all I will ready anything written by Abbi Glines, so in that way I am biased.

Historical fiction is always a fun read for me, however not usually my first choice. So when I went into this one I was not sure. But as usual Ms. Glines did not disappoint! Love Triangle Alert!

When a lady is sent to London for the "season" to find a well to do husband to care for her and her younger sibling, of course you need some drama and love triangle.

Miriam is easy to love from the beginning, she stay strong and true to herself throughout the book which I love.
Lord Ashington was not so easy to love but grows on you throughout the story, which I believe is intentional.
Nicholas was a surprise, and I am happy with the way his character ended up.
My favorite character in the book is Aunt Harriet, we all need a woman like her in our life!

Great fun read and I will probably read it again!

Miriam is finding a husband for one reason and one reason only, to help her family become better off. After her dad dies leaving a boatload of gambling debt behind, it is just to her to find a husband and get her family back in better standings for her sister. So off Miriam goes to London to live with her Aunt and Uncle to join the season. Everyone is taken by the new girl including Hugh Compton, Earl of Ashington, and his brother Nathaniel who have a tense rival against each other. So the story begins of who she wants to choose, and which brother will win over her heart, and will the secrets that come out at their visit to the Earl's country estate cause everything to come tumbling down? You'll have to read to find out!

Wow this is unlike any other Abbi Gline's books I've read. It was a little less graphic, and a whole different era all together. I was caught up in this book. I finished it in 1 day! Who was Miriam going to pick?! I loved the sisterly bond between her and Whitney, and the aunt and uncle who had ties to America were hilarious. The reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was because it was a little predicable, and I'm a little over the "She's the most perfect stunning smart girl anyones ever seen. Of course the most handsome popular boy wants her" trope. I mean they only stated it 100 times! But even with that set up I still really enjoyed the book. It was fast, and easy to follow. I was worried I was aging out of Abbi's books but this one reeled me back in. I'm hoping there is a sequel!

I don't tend to read regency romances, but I do enjoy reading Abbi Glines, so I was curious as to how this would go.

Fortunately, I found this to be an entertaining story. It's rather simplistic - the synopsis pretty much gives you the entire plot - but I think AG has definitely lent her voice to the genre. Based on her author's note, being true to her own style was something she wanted to convey, and I think she achieves that.

This short and sweet story is one that I'm sure will check all the boxes for fans of both AG and regency romances.
