I read the book to my son last night and we loved it! The pictures were adorable. The information about the coral reefs and the animals was spot on! It was a great educational book that made learning about Coral Reefs fun & easy.

We live on an island and it was neat to see a book about where we live. If you're reading it to your child the age range about 5-10. If your child is reading it to themselves 7-10 is perfect.

This is a beautiful encyclopedia of all things coral reef. I love the colorful illustrations that make this book interesting and less textbook like. I think this can be enjoyed by any child that loves learning about the ocean!

This is a really beautiful and educational book that is perfect for young readers who are interested in learning more about the planet and in particular about coral reefs. It would definitley be more suitable for ages 9 and above. This books talks about what coral reefs are and the role they play in our environment and what is happening to them. This book has a lot of vivid and colour photos of coral reefs which I really liked!

Coral Reefs are an incredibly important piece of biodiversity, and Spencer was able to beautifully dilute the topic just enough to make it more understandable for younger readers without cutting down on the information. With lovely illustrations coupling the definitions and text, this is surely a success within the children's nonfiction section.

Even though this book was written for children, I learned a lot about coral reefs while reading it. Spencer did such a nice job compiling info about reefs, the different types of what they are made of, what kind of animals find nourishment and shelter in and around coral reefs, and facts about how climate change is affecting the oceans and reefs as well as what kids can do to help protect the oceans and slow or prevent climate change. The illustrations by Alexandria Neonakis were colorful and realistic, giving the sense that you are actually underwater, looking at the ocean floor. I really enjoyed this and will be sharing it with my young nieces and nephews. *Advance copy provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I quite liked this book, it was well written and engaging. From a child's point of view it's definitely a thought provoker, the content offers a chance for the reader to transport to the coral reef on a sort of field trip.

The information is given in small chunks so it's easily digestible to the reader and the listener. can learn and still be attentive.

Some of my favourite parts are the little bits of writing with pictures because it opens up a lot of conversation with the children but also inspires more education after the book, pretty positive, also I loved the way the author shows the human impact on the coral reef and sea life and instils the importance of our actions and the need to recycle, and be less wasteful by making changes to help the oceans and support sea life. I thought that was really important and a really good thing to teach children from a young age. So, it wins all the stars for this!

The only thing that really lets this book down I think its the illustration, for a new children's book it just seems dated and perhaps just an older style, and for some parts looks a bit blurry. but perhaps in a physical copy, it'll look better!

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this free ARC in return for my honest review. It is so refreshing to be educated along with the kids.

I do adore children's non-fiction; they explain complex information in ways that can be easily understood. It was great to explore the world of coral reefs. I was completely struck by the fact that coral reefs account for 1% of the ocean floor coverage but are depended upon by 25% of ocean life.

This book goes into detail abut the habitat of a coral reef and some of the creatures that call it home. I particularly enjoyed finding out about the Hawaiian creation story. Towards the end of the book their are examples of how you can help to protect the coral reefs through everyday actions and places where you can go to discover more about the oceans, reefs and taking care of our planet.

I'd recommended this book for primary juniors but you could certainly share it with younger children in small sections at a time.

The World of Coral Reefs is a nonfiction children’s book written by Erin Spencer.

This brightly illustrated book details numerous facts about coral reefs in a fun and engaging way.

Kids ages 7-10 will learn what coral reefs are, what they are made up of, the animals that inhabit and depend upon the reefs, as well as action items kids can take to protect the reefs for the future.

This well thought out book is a wonderful resource for any child fascinated by all things ocean!

Who knew that there were cold water coral reefs?! Do Northern Hemisphere folks have any idea just how big the Great Barrier Reef is? Here I learned about the formation and close appearance of the individual tiny polyps of coral as well as the many animals, fishes, and minute food particles like plankton who live/hide inside the coral reefs. Then there are the fine illustrations of the different types of coral, and lots more! Then come the need for coral in the ecosytem and how humans are responsible for their deterioration as well as what we as individuals can do to stop and rewind to a better state of coral (and oceanic) health. Get one for gifting and one for local library!
I requested and received a free temporary ebook from Storey Publishing via NetGalley. Thank you!

The World of Coral Reefs is a beautiful book! It is written in a clear and engaging way for children to feel empowered and educated about our Coral Reefs, as well as ocean. Excited to buy a hard copy. - Maureen Healy, author of The Emotionally Healthy Child and The Happiness Workbook for Kids

This is a short picture book about the biology of coral reefs and the way they have been affected by climate change and pollution. The illustrations are as vibrantly beautiful as you would expect a coral reef to be. Additional educational tools are included at the end of the story.

This colorful dive into coral reefs will be a fun interactive read with younger kids and engaging independent read for older elementary students. Images bring the text to life and provide examples to support readers in their understanding of new material. The glossary at the end of the book provides another source for kids to look up new bolded vocabulary in their quest for new knowledge. Resource links at the end of the book provide further reading on various topics related to the locations, biology, and conservation of coral reefs around the globe. Educator resources are also linked for those wishing to utilize this rich text in their classroom. This book is a great addition to any personal or classroom library!

Perfect nonfiction book for kids! Beautiful, detailed illustrations. Not too text heavy but full of information. The important words are easy to see in bright yellow and there are captions on most pages with extra information. I hope this becomes a nonfiction series.

I received an advance digital copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This books is eye catching and informative. It strikes a good balance between subject specific vocabulary which is supported by a glossary and easy explanations in small snippets of text. Large illustrations, maps and diagrams make this book accessible for children and many reading abilities and also a brilliant book to share together and read aloud.

Filled with facts about coral reefs and the animals that live within them as well as looking at human impact this book would be a lovely addition to any library or bookshelf.

The illustrations are vibrantly drawn and colored. At first a small part of me was disappointed to not see real coral reef photography, but as I continued turning pages I just fell in love with the illustrations. The colors and lighting are so well done of the spreads of animals. There are several informative illustrations too of maps, levels, close ups, internal looks, and more.

The book begins with a table of contents and then jumps into it’s opening section on Rainforests of the Sea. The sections listed in the table of contents are covered in two page spreads in the book, and then it goes onto the next topic. Much of the ordering of these sections makes a lot of sense like starting with their importance, the major reef, what it is, and closing with some of the changes the reefs are up against. But some of the topics in the middle do not have a clear logic to their organization. Some of the later sections give readers ideas for helping out with conservation such as using a reusable bag and avoiding plastic straws when possible.

This book is a strong introduction to coral reefs that dives into a lot of the relevant topics. The book really captures the importance of coral reefs and what is currently happening that is affecting them in positive or negative ways. The breakdowns of types, how they are composed, and how they reproduce are very helpful even to this adult reader! These elements factored with the resources in the back and visually appealing illustrations makes this a strong addition to elementary and middle grade science collections.

This wonderful reference/picture book is made for children but I can't help but to love this book as an adult. The artwork are amazing, very colourful and the information are arranged in simple order but very effective where both children and adult could understand well. This is very helpful for someone like me who has visual type of memory.
:
The book itself covers about the importance of preserving our coral reefs. It helps to protect marine life that depends on it, to reduce severe damage cause by natural disasters and the benefits of coral reefs to our environment.
:
There are many types of coral reefs and this in return were added to my knowledge. The labelling, the diagrams and the fantastic art does help to locate which part of the coral reefs are being mentioned. And if well protected they could live up to hundreds of years! Easy to understand, very suitable for both children and adult alike. I really love it, 5/5 stars!
