Tense and addictive, did I say tense! The neighbor you really don't want, the supposed friend you need to keep your eye on - not sure if I was rooting for him, or wanted to strangle him myself. No spoilers - but things kind of work themselves out, for some ...

The plot....reveal all of your neighbor's secrets and see what happens. Just remember to keep the consequences away from your front door. The Perfect Ending may just show up in the wrong plot line, leaving this author to face some unpredictable reactions.

This was such a different plot that it made it really interesting to read, yes the main character wasnt very likeable but what a thought process to come up with this book.

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

The characters were well-developed, and I found myself invested in their lives. The plot was well thought out and had enough twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my seat. I appreciated the attention to detail, and the author did a great job of creating a vivid world that was easy to picture in my mind.
The themes explored in the book were thought-provoking and gave me a lot to consider. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story with well-developed characters.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this book and would definitely read it again. It was a great addition to my reading collection, and I can't wait to see what else this author has in store.

✨Book Review✨
The Perfect Ending by Rob Kaufman
⭐️ Rating: 4/5
Release date: Out Now!

Psychological thriller author Scott Atwood has the worst case of writers block he’s ever had. If he can’t come up with an idea soon, his career and he’s decided his life, are over. Whilst looking out his window he comes up with the perfect story for his book. Although he just might have to destroy a few of his neighbors lives to further along his idea...

I actually wasn’t expecting to like this book as much as I did. But I ended up quite enjoying it. The concept is quite unique. Does this answer the age old question of where authors get their ideas from? Well I most certainly hope not. This book really lived up to its name and gave us “The Perfect Ending”. I had no idea where the book was going, there were some pretty crazy twists and turns. But the ending was definitely the craziest. But not in an over the top ridiculous way. I highly recommend checking this one out if you’re into fast paced thrillers. It’s definitely worth a read! (Trigger warning for suicide).

This was a Read Now on Netgalley and sounded interesting even though the last thing I needed was another book to read. It was a good choice on my part and I really enjoyed it. I think it answers that age-old question of where authors get their ideas! Best-selling author Scott Atwood is suffering from writer's block and, after considering and rejecting plans to end his life, he decides to create some drama in his own neighbourhood to form the basis for his next book. Like dominoes, one thing leads to another and then .... well, you'll have to read it for yourself.

Very cleverly written with unusual but not very likeable characters, it was a pretty quick read. The ending surprised me but it wrapped up the book nicely. I recommend this book and I'll definitely read some of Mr. Kaufman's other novels.

Many thanks to Rob Kaufman and the Independent Book Publishers Association as well as Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book.

What is real? What is fiction? Scott Atwood is having the worst time getting over his writers block and writing the next best seller for his agent - and he has 2 weeks to do it. From the beginning you get sucked into the story and the characters, and at the end you are surprised the book is over.

Well it sure was different. Not sure how I feel about it. I didn't hate it but really didn't like it either. The whole writer's response to writers block was extreme. To know so much about your neighbors is rather disturbing. It was a story inside a story. Interesting concept

Scott Atwood is an author . He is cute having this writers block and couldn’t find any words to write even for its chapter 1.
Suddenly he wants to end his life but in a good and memorable way.
He started to sit by the train station and from there grab some ideas.
- the story was short but detailed . The ending part is quite sad, but it was a different ending and twisty.
- I also listen to this vi audiobook and the narrator sounds like ‘now ‘ from the Simpsons.
- overall, it was a 5⭐️ For me! Definitely a good book.

The first book I've read y Rob Kaufman and unfortunately despite an intriguing premise it failed to grip me. I felt this was mainly due to the unsympathetic main character - I struggled to finish this one sadly.

What a creepy cover! This storyline had me gripped and I raced through it...well worth reading :) I can't wait to read more from this author!

This was a quick read in which I figured out the twist pretty easily. But, in the stretch between then and the reveal, I couldn’t stop thinking about why the main character didn’t just write about his idea of blowing up his neighbor’s lives rather than actually blowing up their lives, and that was distracting and eye roll inducing.

I was genuinely enjoying this book, despite not being fond of the protagonist, right up until the end.
I feel that the final "twist" ending was a bit of a cop-out and fell flat.
I think the premise was great and it had some real potential but wasn't explored as well as it could have been. The main character had only just started to get into the swing of his manipulations when he was cut short- which I think was a shame.
His decision to leave his manuscript with the original names was ridiculous, leaving it out in the open for the suspect to see was even more stupid. It was these decisions towards the end of the book which turned a 4 star read into a two star.

This is such an incredible read.

Scott is a once great author who is now drinking his way through the days without managing to write a single word for his long suffering agent.

I really don’t want to spoil this book, but it is a A+ thriller with elements of relatability at the never ending responsibility of life and a few moments of hilarity.

Don’t spoil it for yourself but definitely read it!

The Perfect Ending was my first Rob Kaufman novel, and I really enjoyed it, so it won't be my last! The concept of this book was really interesting, and I've never read anything quite like it before. I liked the ending and didn't see it coming at all...and it's an ending I'll remember for a long time. The book had plenty of twists and turns, and I had a hard time putting it down. Thanks to NetGalley, Kaufman, and Independent Book Publishers Association for giving me the opportunity to read and review The Perfect Ending. : )

What??? A book about writing? Yes please! The Perfect Ending is full of twists, turns and maddening darkness. How far would you go? Would you give in to your dark impulses to regain your success? In a world where you're only as good as your last piece, you have to create your own fresh story for an ever changing fickle audience. The Perfect Ending is artistic cannibalism, pulling the curtain back on the writing process and one man's desperation.

Scott Atwood, a writer taken over by writer’s block, knows his career is over, so he decides his life must be too. He must have the perfect ending to his life, jumping in front of a train, but then the perfect idea comes for his next novel — a writer who must ruin the lives of others to come up with an idea for his new book. However, Scott takes his story way too far…
I went into this novel not expecting much, but I was so pleasantly surprised! It was fast paced and interesting from the very beginning. The main plot kept me intrigued, as well as the subplots. The narration from the main character was incredibly engrossing. And the ending was immensely satisfying! And although I did figure out the ending, it was by no means predictable.
The only complaint I have is that I wish I liked the side characters more. Although I hated what Scott, the main character, was doing to their lives, it wasn’t because I cared about the people he was doing it to, it was just because what he was doing was wrong. It would’ve added an extra layer of caring if I loved the side characters.
This book really shocked me by how great it was! I can definitely see reading from this author in the future and I will recommend this book to anyone I know who loves thrillers!

This has to be one my favourite books this year...and I don't want to give much away...but Scott is writer under pressure to deliver his next book...with no plot coming to mind he is about to take his life and then he figures out that the best plot for the book is his neighbours....an affair, a harvard student taking drugs, a neighbour who refuses to come out...can he manipulate things into his book....and why does his arm hurt! When you get to the end you realise just how brilliant this book is.....

Scott Atwood is a writer with writer's block meaning he can't make his deadlines. After trying and repeatedly failing to come up with a good story, he decides he only has one option - he decides to throw himself in front of a subway train. But, even in that, he fails as someone pulls him out at the last minute. But the experience gives him an idea - what if, instead of waiting for inspiration, he makes something happen like, oh, letting a husband know when his wife's secret lover is with her in their house, then waiting to see what happens.

I really enjoyed The Perfect Ending by Robert Kaufman... right up until the ending. I finished this several days ago and have been mulling it over back and forth. I read other reviews to see if my opinion is the norm - it's apparently not as most reviewers seem to think it worked well with the story. So my final assessment - I'm still not satisfied with the ending but I am in a minority but I did enjoy the rest of the book so I'll leave it up to other readers to decide for themselves. I will say, though, that, overall, I enjoyed the story enough to look for more by this author in the future.

3.5
