This book is just everything you’d want it to be. It is a fun story about friendship and a found family on a desert island. As you’d expect, the characters are inanimate objects brought to life and given rather quirky personalities. I adored the little treasure chest and the island. My 6 year old thoroughly enjoyed seeing what was in the chest too. Another classic from Hendra and Linnet and can’t wait to buy it to be with my other books by these wonderful authors.

I Spy Island by Sue Hendra
Illustrated by Paul Linnet

I love books by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet. We have all the Supertato and No-Bot, the Robot books. This book is another fabulously funny one to add to the collection!
The story starts with 'Island' playing a game of eye spy with 'Glove', 'Bird', 'Banana' and bottle which unsurprisingly is always 'something beginning with 's'(the sea!) as there is not much around to see! Their day suddenly gets more exciting when a treasure chest washes up on the shore.
To begin with no one is sure what a treasure chest is but it isn't long before they become great friends. Luckily treasure chests have other uses (to storing treasure) especially when there's a big storm coming!

Young children are going to love this funny story with such loveable creatures playing games by the sea. We were all giggling along to the story!
This book would be the perfect addition to an early years topic on the seaside too. The children I have taught have always loved every book I've read them by this author and I'm certain this one will be just as popular!
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for this eARC.

Sue Hedra and Paul Linnet are a winning combination. Their children's books have entertained and inspired over the last few years..the Supertato adventures and Cake being personal favourites and now we have another fantastic book. This is a gem -no pun intended -with a story about a treasure chest washing up on I spy island. The illustrations are as delightful and entertaining as always and the prose is word perfect . This is ideal as ever for all younger readers ( early years /KS1) ;vocabulary that is imaginative and challenging ( in a good way) and lots of opportunities to ask questions and build children's imaginations. This will be another winner with teachers and parents alike. Ideal for a pirate themed topic and a book I will certainly purchase for family and recommend to education colleagues . A summer delight.... roll on the next in the series
