I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I really did not get on with this book and completely disagree that it can be read as a stand-alone. I was quite disappointed when I learnt that it is the second of a series and, as much as I tried, could not get to grips with the characters. Second to this, I disliked the meddling ways of the protagonist and how Kerra just seems to be involved in everyone’s business. When gossip starts to turn against her, Kerra dislikes the rumours and, in my opinion, she had just set herself up for this situation.

Halton introduces a lot of characters early on. If you have read the first book, this would be easy enough to navigate. I was surprised at the central romance to the story, featuring Kerra and Ross, as the two adults are sneaking around as if they are conducting an illicit affair. Maybe this is left-over from the first book, but I was frustrated that the main reason was because of Kerra’s dad, who would disapprove of these childhood sweethearts. As two grown adults, surely they should be proud of their relationship and stand up for what they believe is right for themselves, rather than sneaking around each other’s houses in “cloak and dagger” style?

Kerra seems to be involved in a lot of people’s business, even though Penvennan Cove is a small village. I disliked how she seems to know everyone’s affairs, even though it is clear that Kerra has only recently moved back from London. Still owning a London flat, it is not as if she is a well-established resident, and I understood the bit of resistance she receives when locals learn she has purchased one of the fisherman cottages. It felt like she was a business entrepreneur and a property magnate! Back off, woman!

So, did this book have any redeeming features? I did like some of the minor characters and I enjoyed the surprising feature of the local Christmas pantomime (completely unexpected, even though there are big snow flakes on the front cover!). I thought this could have been focused upon more in the story because it showed the community coming together, rather than just seeing the rumours and gossip swirling. I also liked the story of Kerra’s cat, Ripley, and how she seems to dominate everything around her – even the poor dog who lives next door.

I thought this book had the foundations of being a great piece of holiday fiction but I don’t think it helped in the slightest that I was coming in to a series mid-book. Reading a bit more about this author, I discovered this is a pseudonym for another writer who I don’t quite get along with, so maybe this wasn’t a surprise that visiting Penvennan Cove just didn’t rock my boat.

With thanks to Aria Fiction and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thoroughly good read. Warm hearted, well written, you really feel you are there in the cove, moving amongst the characters.
It shows the ups and downs of family life and long remembered feuds and how they can affect others.
I read this as a stand alone rather than having read the first book and don’t feel I missed anything by reading it this way.
Would definitely read others from this author.

Sadly, I didn't like the book as much as i thought i would. The writing just didn't catch me and the plot wasn't mine :(

Making Waves at Penvennan Cove is the second book in Linn N.Hoaltons series set in a tiny, picturesque village in Cornwall. Having previously read and enjoyed the first book, I felt glad to come back and see the familiar faces. The series isn't just about Kerra's homecoming, it is about building friendships and relationships, and, of course, whenever you have a new couple (Kerra and Ross), it isn't just about these two people, it is about their families and their friends who also need to re-adjust and compromise.

I really enjoyed this book. Kerra is a great lead and I was completely invested in her story and how things would turn out. Can't wait to read more from this Author.

I was given a copy of Making waves at Penvennan cove by Linn b Halton by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the series. Kerra and Ross are keeping their relationship a secret from their families as the families have been at war for years. I hadn't read the first book of this series but still found it an enjoyable read.

I felt I was missing too much information from the first book this series and found it difficult to engage with the characters.

This is the second book in a trilogy. Having previously read the first I was looking forward to see how the story had progressed.
Unfortunately this book was a massive disappointment, most of it was repetitive of the first, explaining characters relationships, jobs etc. the storyline hadn't moved on at all and was just full of lots of 'filler'. Plus the main character Kerra has been turned into a really annoying self-centred do-gooder.
Sorry for the less than favourable review but I certainly wont bother with the 3rd book.

I requested to read this book as it is the second in the series and I thoroughly enjoyed the first one. This one did not disappoint!

I love the village setting and the characters are very quirky and fun which makes you really invest in their lives. I would definitely recommend this novel, however I would suggest reading the first one initially as I think I would have been slightly lost if I hadn't.

Thank you to Netgalley and Aria & Aries for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I wish I had known when I saw this book that it was the second in a series. It should be made clearer on the screen, as this book definitely needed the reader to have read the previous book to know what was going on. There is not enough of a recap that you can understand what is happened and for me this spoilt my enjoyment of the book from the beginning. Which is a shame.

I have to say that I love the cover of this book, and any stories that centre around a small community is right up my street. Even when it childish and idle gossip about each other that keeps them going. And the whole area was described beautifully. I could have liked this book, but I feel like I just spent too much time trying to work out who was who, and what had happened in the previous book. It left me wondering what's going to happened next but unfortunately I am not invested enough in the series to pick up the next book.

Thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for allowing me a copy of this book, it is very appreciated and I am honoured to read this book.

This is a beautiful women fiction novel which broaches many concepts and thoughts by women and I love the connections and relationships between the main female and others as it shows the reality of a female and how they think.

My second visit to Penvennan cove is heartwarming. Kerra and Ross continue their romance in secret, but are there ever secrets in a small-town setting? Read the first book in the series, if you can, as you learn a lot about the main characters and the community. This story of family, friendships, secrets and small-town communities has relatably flawed characters and a believable relationship dynamic. The ethos is contemporary and realistic and explores all aspects of living in a small coastal town. The setting is vibrant and complements this engaging story.

I received a copy of this book from 'Head of Zeus' (Aria) via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

When Kerra returns to her hometown after living and working in London, she enjoys reconnecting with her long ago sweetheart. When their relationship becomes no longer a secret, family feuds and other circumstances add bumps to her happy road. This is a sweet contemporary romance with realistic characters, but did not hold my attention. Maybe I would have liked it better if I read the first book in the series first, as I did not realize this was not a standalone novel. I had to try to figure out what was going on, and felt as if I had stepped into the theater in the middle of the play.

I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Please don't make me wait for the next book, I really want to read it, but fear it may not have been written yet! This was a glorious second book to this trilogy, and builds on the base from the first book and enhances everything so much.

Although Kerra is still our main character, we get embroiled into the lives of so many others in the cove, that it feels like its a real story about a community. A small Cornish community that may not be that keen on change.

Kerra feels like a far more rounded character now, and I liked her a whole deal more, and am really now believing in the relationship she is in, while feeling the Romeo and Juliet vibes from the relevant fathers!

There is so much I thoroughly enjoyed but if I mention things they are likely to be spoilers for book 1, or this one, and give too much away about the storylines that may still need to be completed in book 3.

I just know that I have gone from liking the series with book 1, to ridiculously eager for the last book to see how everything will conclude. So from that point of view Making Waves at Penvennan Cove has certainly done its job, and set everything up incredibly well.

Thank you to Aria and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily

Lovely to be back with Kerra and Ross in the beautiful Penvennan Cove, romance is still on the cards but with both of their families hating each other what will happen when the secret comes out? Lovely warmhearted story with good characters and storyline making it a perfect beach read
