This manga tells the story of a handsome young girl and a handsome young buy in high school who come across each other. While I enjoyed reading this shojo manga it also does not stand out to me compared to others.
The male lead, Ichimura, is very forward to Yoi, our main girl, and while she is swayed by his charms she knows when to hold her own which I like about her. I also love their friends despite them only being briefly in this volume. I know for sure I want to keep reading this manga and seeing how Yoi and Ichimura’s fast paced relationship further develops.

Ooooh gosh I loved this manga so much! The two main characters, Yoi and Ichimura were so good looking, they gave me butterflies lol. The artwork alone was giving you all the romantic tension. I liked the premise of the plot as well and thought their relationship was so cute and sweet. Also that ending omg I can't wait to read the next volume because I must know what happens next and how everything works out!

How can an art style be so beautiful? The cover looked so cool and interesting, and the style itself is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone looks stunning and beautiful, and I ended up gazing so lovingly at it.

The story itself is not bad. I like the premise, although I was getting Monthly Girls Nozaki-Kun vibes. Our MC was almost a mirror reflection of Kashima, but she had her own personality that stopped her being a blatant rip off, but it’s clear where the inspiration came from.

I really enjoyed this. It’s a little slow paced, but I became invested in our main couple. It was cute to see them get to know each other and grow, and I’m interested to see where the manga will take them. The love interest could do with more fleshing out, but I think the next volume might provide more insight.

Overall, I highly recommend this and I hope to read more in the future.

I really liked this volume!

I picked this one up without knowing anything about it. Based on the cover I actually thought it was a BL which fits so perfectly with the theme of the story? I appreciated how the main lead struggled with feminity and her sense of self in a realistic way. I think it's common when you are that age that people keep telling you who you are as a person and how that imagine others have of you might not reflect you as a person.

I really like both main characters, I am so excited to see how their relationship will unfold, what kind of hardships they will meet and who they will be together. I really like their dynamic the chemistry was on point.

The art is also absolutely gorgeous. Which is no surprise considering Mika Yamamori is the mangaka. I actually didn't realize this was one of her works until I logged it into Goodreads and then it made so much sense.

I am very excited too read future volumes, I am kind of sad that I picked this up so early on in the series Yamamoris works are perfect for binge reading!

I was really anticipating this read, and it met, and then greatly surpassed, by expectations! I loved the artstyle, every page was so beautifully drawn. The characters were all interesting, and I am very, very intrigued to see where this story goes!

Thank NetGalley for the e-arc of this manga

In the Clear Moonlit Dusk is about a girl who’s popular for her somehow masculine face, cool vibes and tall too. Often mistaken as boy & also being call as a prince when she is indeed a girl. Until one day she encounters with a senpai that called her beautiful for the first time.

This manga makes me go waku waku & fuwa fuwa all the way! I am in love with the beautiful drawn artstyle and in love with Yoi- chan as well. Her vibes really is gakkoi and i really love her!!,!

Beautiful art, fun storyline and a sweet romance. What else could you want? In the Clear Moonlight Dusk is a story with the gorgeous cool teens you always wanted to be, romance you dream of, and adventure to rival a fairy tale. And it all combines to make you keep turning page after page, wanting more!

I'm disappointed that the main character love interest isn't a boy, but I really do like the way they wrote her. I appreciate that she is a tomboyish girl who is constantly perceived a really cool boy to the point where the whole school calls her "Prince." She carries on the burden of that projection until she meets a rough rowdy boy with a good heart who tells her its ok to be a girl and lean on him.

🎇4.5 stars✨

I managed to read this one in a matter of hours. To say it was a breeze would be putting it mildly. This volume 1 consisted of only 4 chapters, so it felt a little short. That being said, I know how much work and time it takes to complete even one page and/or panel.

The title of the manga is what attracted me towards picking it, followed by its story. At first glance, the colouring of the cover page looked amateur-ish. But that didn't have any effect on storytelling and art style was impeccable. The personalities of our protagonists shine through the pages.

Volume 1 was barely a starter and it ends on a cliffhanger as always. I would definitely pick up the next volumes to see how their relationship evolves.

The queen Mika Yamamori is back with another series!

Yoi Takiguchi is tall and has a rather masculine face, therefore, everyone mistook her for a boy. That’s why she earned the nicknamed Prince at school. All of her female classmates admired her, but she never caught the interest of a guy yet. That is, until she bumped into the school’s other prince, Kohaku. He doesn’t know at first that she is a girl, but still, he finds her beautiful. It’s the first time that she caught the attention of a guy and that he finds her beautiful the way she is.

In my opinion, this series is trying to switch gender norms. Yoi Takiguchi has a boyish face and short hair, the complete opposite of the typical main character of a shojo manga.

The male interest was pretty great too. Kohaku is rather direct and not your mysterious guy that no one knows anything about. It was a nice change for once. A sentence that struck me was when Kohaku says to Yoi that she gave him butterflies. It surprises me since this sentence usually comes out of the mouth of female characters, rather than masculine ones, which I appreciate.

Overall, it was a good introduction to this new series, it didn’t reveal much, so I’m excited to see what the future of the series holds.

I absolutely adored the book, and would love to get it for my teen collection.
I'm excited to see how this continues, and look forward to a physical release of the manga.

In your typical, girl gets confused as a male concept; Yoi Takiguchi is taller than most girls her age, with a face most call 'handsome', and a deeper voice, she is known throughout the school as a 'Prince'. While it's done in appreciation and not as a joke, Yoi isn't used to being treated as a female. That is until she meets the other school's Prince 'Kohaku Ichimura', the only one who sees Yoi for who she is.

As the two hang out more, and get closer, Ichimura's feelings for Yoi grow, and Yoi begins to experience her first love.

Thank you to NetGalley~ and Kondasha for the arc once again

I liked the characters and I thought it was cute. But I'm not quite satisfied with how the manga went. I like when characters are forward but I feel it a wee bit to early with declarations of love after from what I can tell is after not even a week of knowing one another. I also think that some of the male leads behavior is a turn off. The characters joke about sexual harassment and how he's like a stalker. But in all seriousness he doesn't respect female leads boundaries.

Also the reasons for said romance are still shallow at this point. With physical beauty being the main thing that attracts the male lead to the main character. While I'm fine with that being the thing that first attracts him to main girl, other than that I don't feel that his loves have sturdy legs to stand on. With that being said I also thought that I should comment that the art is super beautiful as well. I like the two's dynamic well enough and the ending of volume one was a good cliffhanger that makes me want to pick up a second volume.

In the Clear Moonlit Dusk Vol. 1
by Mika Yamamori
Review

My first thoughts upon finishing this were all— inelegant:
“Omg, I’m obsessed! I love it, I love it, it’s too good!”

— so this review will just be an expounding on these incomprehensible but joyful sentiments.

This is the story of two princes.

(If you’re a first time shojo reader: a prince is any handsome, gentlemanly male in the story; they’re often seen in handsome contemplation and with roses in the background; they’re good at everything they do and they often hold the rest of the world at arms length. To be a prince is to be slightly mysterious )

“A tall, lanky physique and a masculine face inherited from her parents.
Yoi Takiguchi.
First Year High School Student.
Gender: Female. “

This is the story of two princes. One of them, is Yoi Takiguchi, a girl.

It opens up with a classical shojo manga scene — girls running to catch the train before it leaves and a young man, holding the door open for them, all super gentlemanly like with shalalala flowers in the background.

Whose heart wouldn’t skip a beat?!?!

Yoi-Chan is so considerate, gentle and kind! Just last sports day she carried a competitor who had fallen, Princess-style over the finish line!

So princely!

Except that title comes with a downside— Yoi-Chan secretly wants what most high school girls want— to feel like a Princess, to flirt with boys, to fall in love. But how can she ever experience that when she’s so shy and looks like that.

“You’re incredibly beautiful……for a guy.”

After an awkward first meeting with the school’s other prince, Ichimura-sempai. They keep bumping into each other by chance, on stairways, at the convenience store, and at every point he makes his interest clear, even professing to be enraptured by her face!

“It’s like I wanna watch you forever.”

I can’t blame her for feeling all out of sorts with this being the first time she’s been approached (by a boy!) like this! But seeing as she’s a prince too, by the end she’s able to knock him off kilter for once!

A delightful, trope filled romp, showcasing the best of the genre! Not to mention the spectacular art and smooth paneling! This was such a joy to read, with many moments spent giggling and blushing! I’m excited to see where things go from here!

Would I read this again?

I had to! I love it so much!

What was your favourite scene?

I’ve bookmarked so many pages!!! But my favorite (non-spoilery) scene was when Yoi-chan stepped in (with her karate moves!) to save Kohaku from an assailant! She’s so suave!

Would I read the next volume in the series?

I wish it was in my hands right this second!

Would I recommend this?

This is all I’m going to talk about on Twitter for days, I’m going to force everyone to read it and watch them fall in love with these two!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Kodansha for sending this arc to me for review!

IIn The Clear Moonlit Dusk volume 1 is one of the strongest beginning volumes of a manga I’ve ever read. The story is quite engaging and I already love Yoi and Ichimura, as well as their dynamic. Since both characters have a “princely” reputation at their school, they already have a mutual understanding of what it’s like when peers judge them based upon apperance and socioeconomic status. I also love how Ichimiura is very honest about his attraction, perhaps even clumsily so, to Yoi (he tells her she is beautiful before even realizing she is female, in fact), but never acts pushy and is mindful about consent.

The ending of this volume was such a cliffhanger and I’m so excited to read volume two! The art style is wonderful and I’m anticipating some great discussion on themes touched in this first volume, including unconscious bias and breaking gender roles.

Thanks so much to Kodansha and Netgalley for providing me with a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review. The newly English translated In The Clear Moonlit Dusk volume 1 is now available as an ebook!

"Asking someone directly, 'Aren't you a guy?' Is pretty rude, isn't it?" - this can be argued nowadays, but the stupid joke aside xD

At school, Yoi's nickname is "Prince." Because her facial features are more masculine, her voice is not very feminine either ... And she definitely looks like a "prince of shoujo manga". Yes or no, there is a whole fan club ...
One day, by chance (as is the law in manga titles), Yoi encounters the other school prince. He is an ordinary boy who is not particularly interested in participating in the fantasies of various "fan clubs". And on their first encounter, he thought Yoi was cute ... before he worried he'd offended some random dude. He was then enlightened by classmates about the story of the school prince. And their common history is only just beginning.

The title is very reminiscent of Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, even Sukitte Ii na yo. and many more, but those more familiar can get an idea. Modern shoujo with no ligaments and too bloated types. Fun, quite witty and cute type titles.

(The geek in me has already ordered the VA for the anime version, if they ever make one - Paku Romi and Sugita Tomokazu. Mmmm, classic!)

The original opinion is in Bulgarian, I apologize for the translation errors. I am adding a link.

Thank you so much to Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC; it is greatly appreciated.

I'm a little torn on this one. The character design is simply gorgeous, and I fell in love with the art. I could stare at some of these pages all day; they are just that beautiful. I 100% give the art a 5/5.

On the other hand the way one of the main characters, Takiguchi, behaves is in a way that feels a bit uncomfortable and problematic. He doesn't really respect the other main character's boundaries. Yes, this is used to further the plot and their relationship, but I feel like this could have been done in a way that feels less "I'm going to invade your personal space whether you like it or not".

The story itself also feels very familiar, and has all the tropes you would normally expect in a high school romance. So far this manga isn't doing anything new. However, it really reminds me of Fruits Basket, and Ouran High School Host Club, which I adore, so I'm hoping that the series finds its own footing. Unfortunately, for now I would give the story a 2/5.

My overall score for this manga averages to 3.5/5. It has potential, and I do look forward to the next installment.

This is a sweet high school romance between a girl who has an androgynous look and is nicknamed "the prince" by her classmates, and an upperclassman who is also his class "prince". A really unusual pairing, but I loved it! I'm sure that in future volumes we'll learn more about our main characters' histories and backgrounds, and I am here for it! I groaned out loud when I hit the last page... I want more! Thanks to Kodansha and Netgalley for a digital copy to read and review.

I have to admit this book was pretty cute. So Yoi is a prince with classic pretty boy looks only she's a girl. Ichimura is the only person who can see past that princely exterior and see a person he would love to get to know. I really wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when becoming across this book, I didn't even read what it's about. I thought it was another lgbt book for a moment but that quickly cleared up once reading it. I loved seeing their interactions. I mean Ichimura clearly liked Yoi and kept popping up where he could to see her and you can tell by the way he sometimes awkwardly talks it clearly has a thing for Yoi if only she can give him a chance. Yoi its a bit self conscious she's always known she was somewhat masculine and just given into the role it was interesting seeing her reactions towards Ichimura. Overall if you want a cutesy book to read then check this book out. I really enjoyed it.

Yoi is what my non-binary dreams are made of, A level of androgyny I will never be able to attain.

Is this book Gay? No.
But does it get Gender Affirmation right? YES!!!!!

This is so incredibly cute, and I'm 10/10 going to continue reading this because I must see them get their happy ending.
