Brant is Cait’s story is so moving. I love how Brant fell in love almost immediately and how Cait didn't know what to do with it. Her past leaves her feeling unworthy of love and she is unable to push pass it. Brant was so gentle and loving and giving Cait just what she needed. I love how Cait grew and began to see how wonderful life could be. I really enjoyed how the author wrote the ending, it gave me a giggle. Really enjoy this slow burn story of love.

I read this one day after I finished the first book in the series, Maybe We Will, and I have to say that Foster’s books are not holding my attention. I’ve enjoyed many of her Love in Bloom titles, but her low angst romances are missing the conflict and tension that make for a really satisfying love story. The protagonists get together too early in the story and don’t face any real roadblocks to their HEA.

In this case, Cait, the half-sister to Abby and Dierdra, is a welcome surprise when she shows up in Silver Harbor for the reading of their mother’s will. She’s clearly struggling from some childhood trauma (besides being adopted and having her adoptive mother die when she was only 4) and from a couple of disastrous romantic relationships. However, with the warm welcome from her sisters and the island’s residents, she starts to open up. Brant is a charming, flirtatious local who, after 3 months of persistence, finally wears her down enough that she starts dating him. However, there’s the mystery of her past that prevents her from believing that she’s worthy of receiving or capable of giving love. Like so many victims of abuse, she blames herself to some degree and doesn’t want to burden him with loving her.

Once she realizes that his care, concern and strong feelings for her can be trusted, she still has to confront the demons from her past to move on. The most satisfying part of the book is when she finally finds the strength to do just that. Still, it’s too little too late to keep this story compelling. I’ll still probably read the next book in the series because it’ll be fun to see what I assume is an opposites attract theme between uptight Dierdra and hippy drifter Jagger. However, I’ll keep my expectations low and just mellow out with another sweet, but less than satisfying romance.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Montlake through
NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my
own.

Cait is a tattooist and always wondered who her family was. Until she is contacted by someone from Silver Island. Now she has two half sisters and more friends. Brant is a boatbuilder and has been attracted to Cait from the first time he saw her. While hiking, Cait jumps in the water to save a drowning animal, by the way Cait can’t swim. Brant sees her struggling and jumps in to save both of them. Brant finally breaks down some of Cait’s walls and gets her to a date with him. Cait’s past seems to be holding her future back and the only way to get past it, is to confront it.

So good. Can be read alone. A woman whose past is about to make her lose the best thing she’s ever had. Romance. Sex. And a little dog.

Maybe We Should is the second book in the Silver Harbor Series and once again I was hooked. I absolutely loved Brant with his charming, caring, patient ways never pushing too hard. And Cait, was such a strong person after going through all she had, struggling to overcome her past while still trying to allow herself to trust another man. It was sweet getting to see them work past all these issues. Their chemistry was steamy. You get so many feels. I always love getting to visit in on some of Melissa's previous characters from past books. I can't wait for more of these stories.

Three months ago, Cait Weatherby's life took a sharp turn: she found out who her birth other was, discovered she had two half sisters and became part owner of a house and a dilapidated bistro in Silver Island. Nothing had prepared her for the onslaught of feelings in her heart. You see, Cait has been putting strong walls around herself to protect her soul and her heart. Adopted as an infant, she lost the only mother she ever knew - a loving and caring mother - and was left in the hands of a cruel and abusive father. At sixteen, she took the courage to flee and never looked back.

When she gets contacted by a friend of her late biological mother, she takes off to Silver Island to learn more about her past. There, she finds a kinship to her newfound sisters and a part-time job helping put the bistro back together. She's an accomplished tattoo artist and body piercer at The Cape and she's been trying to go back and forth between her two different lives. The Cape has been her safe for a long time, working at the tattoo shop with Tank Wicked and the subtle protection of the Dark Knights.

There is one huge complication in Cait's life: it came in the form of Brant Remington, a blue-eyed, baseball cap wearing boat builder who's just sunshine impersonated. In the words of his family and friends, he's "the good one". And he's been relentlessly hitting on Cait from day one!

Will he be able, with the help an adorable little dog, to peel away the layers of protection and tear down the wall built around Cait's heart?

We met Cait in book 1 and I immediately had a soft spot for her. We could tell she had been deeply hurt and being skittish would be expected. It was so good to see her start to trust again - beginning with her newfound sisters. The friendship that develops between them is beautiful. It's impossible not to notice how starved for love she is and how terrified she is of loving back.

Brant is the perfect sunshine/cinnamon hero. And when he saves Cait from almost drowning while trying to save a little dog, he comes up with the sweetest ruse: co-parenting the little pooch! This way he and Cait can spend more time together. When he shows up with little Scrappy on a sling, we all swooned - Cait included!

This book is quintessential Melissa - a girl with a broken spirit being healed by the power of Love. It is a book about a person who survived abuse and Melissa does it with absolute grace.

Brant is so book-boyfriend material! The way he understood and respected Cait's feelings is just swoony!

It's a slow but steady ride to Cait and Brant - filled with a cute dog, Sharpies bought in bulk, and a lot of love, understanding and healing.

Bonus: if you are a Melissa reader, you already know that (even though this is a book you can totally pick up and read without having read anything previously) she makes you feel that we are part of this world, and we get to catch up with our friends: we get to see Aiden and Abby, Grant and Jules, and Tank and Leah.

As always, a MUST read.

Possible triggers: emotional and physical abuse by a parent, loss of a parent (previous to story), mentions of alcoholism

Melissa has done it again, given us a wonderful & emotional story. I loved Cait when we met her in book 1, who found her sisters after their mother passed away. My heart broke for Cait, for all she had endured while growing up after her adoptive mother passed away & she was left with her adoptive father. What she went through would have broken a weaker person but Cait is strong though tried to keep her distance from Brant who was attracted to her as soon as he saw her. I loved how patient he was with her, how he not only told her how he felt about her but also showed her with his actions. And their dog is absolutely adorable!

After reading Maybe We Will a few months ago, the next two books immediately went on my to-be-read list. Melissa Foster not only gave readers a wonderful romance with that first novel, but she had many of us eager to see the two other sisters find their own happily-ever-after. In short, what we got was a fantastic series starter that ticked off all the boxes. And now, Maybe We Should is out in the proverbial wild, and I'm not going to suggest that maybe you should read this new romance; I'm telling you that you most definitely should read this as soon as humanly possible. Heck, read both books. Like now.

After Abby de Messiéres found love with Aiden Aldridge in Maybe We Will, it's now time for the eldest of Ava de Messiéres's daughters to find her way towards her happy ending. Maybe We Should is thirty-two-year-old Cait Weatherby's story, one she shares with thirty-three-year-old shipbuilder Brant Remington. Cait found family in the form of her two half-sisters, Deirdra and Abby de Messiéres, after their mother passed away. She's unsure if she's found home on Silver Island, with her chosen family and her work as a tattoo artist seeing her returning to Cape Cod regularly. With Brant she may have found love, but her past casts a dark shadow that could lead to her losing everything she's just found.

The books in this series should come with a warning: Possibility of book hangover highly likely! Cait mentions often that she felt butterflies in her tummy whenever Brant did or said something to and for her. Like those proverbial butterflies, Cait's journey had her hovering below the surface, not seeking attention. Then over time, she realized what Brant, her sisters, and her chosen family knew all along--that she was someone deserving of love and all of life's goodness. Seeing her take flight to embrace it all was quite joyous.

Cait and Brant's story certainly had the romance, but it was also a tale of family and home, all of which are constants in Melissa Foster's brand of writing. As prolific as an author as Foster is, I continue to marvel over the fact that each book of hers that I've read so far--and I doubt that I've even gone through a third of her published work--offers up a different story. Dare I say that Maybe We Should is one of her best to date. Five-plus stars.

This is the second book in this series, but as any reader of the talented Melissa Foster will know that all her books link and weave together, so don't be surprised to meet friends from other storylines. I love how this happens, and it just works so well every time.

In the first Silver Harbor book we met sisters Abby and Deidra, back after their mother's death. Much to their surprise they discovered that they have an older sister, Cait. In this book we get Cait's story, as she finds her way in a new family, and still happy with her tattoo shop family on the mainland.

Cait has not had an easy life, and she is very cautious when making friends – but Brant is patient, determined, and clearly falling for her. As Cait is trying to navigate between supporting Abby in the restaurant and also taking her tattooing shifts, she is really pulled between the two. Brant becomes a safe haven and gives her the chance to explore her new feelings. It is endearing and very romantic, and their friends love it happening.

As ever, Melissa Foster gives her an entirely believable, family-oriented, and sexy read. I really could read about these wonderful people every day of the week – I am really invested in their lives and happiness!

I wondered about Cait's past from the first book and I never dreamed it would be so painful. But author Melissa Foster has a way of bringing all the pain to the surface and making things better for the characters and the reader.

While Cait just wants to live her life her way, Brant wants to know more about her. He is intrigued by her, and he thinks they would make a great couple, but she refuses him each time he asks her on a date.

As they grow closer and her walls began to fall, she remembers her past and thinks she doesn't deserve to be happy and Brant could find someone better than her.

Brant will have to show her that they can be happy together. Cait must face her past in order to have a future with him.

I have loved reading Melissa Foster since I found her years ago, her stories are the best. I love the way her characters cross over with ease, it wouldn't be Silver Harbor without the whole gang there. This story has a painful back story, but it will keep you reading to see that Cait and Brant get their happily ever after in the end. I was cheering for Cait and Brant from the beginning. Thank you, Melissa Foster, for another great story.

M/F Romance
Triggers: Abuse

Brant is relentless in his pursuit of newcomer, Cait. She is an enigma to him. While she is shy and sometimes reserved, she has this strength about her, and Brant wants to see what she’s about. When he rescues her from drowning while she’s attempting to save a puppy, he learns again, that she’s so much stronger than she appears.

Cait is trying to get her feet under her. She’s always been about art and now that she has found some sisters, she knows that her family is starting to become what she’s always dreamt it to be. Growing up, Cait had a less than ideal childhood and had a horrible first marriage. She knows that she is the only person she’s ever been able to rely on and while she wants to change that and learn to trust, she’s wary.

With Brant and her sisters’ help, Cait learns that it’s okay to have more than one family. She has her family on the mainland, who make sure to check out everyone in Cait’s life, and then she has her island family. When the two clash, Cait isn’t sure she’s ready. But with each day, Brant chips away at her armor and Cait learns that these people, these new people aren’t going to see her lacking in any way.

Cait grows into the person she’s always known she could be, and Brant shows her what unconditional love truly is. It’s a coming of age story and a love story wrapped into a tight community who won’t let Cait fail.

Cait has learnt in the most painful way possible to be cautious about those she allows close as she has been disappointed by everyone in her life. Learning about her past has brought her to Silver Island where she is slowly building a relationship with the two sisters that she knew nothing about but that doesn’t mean she is about to let a man in her life no matter how charming he appears to be.

Brant was enchanted by Cait from their first meeting but not matter what he does he can’t break through the walls she has built around herself. Little did he know that a dog was about to play matchmaker and he is determined to show her with everything he does and says that she can trust him with her heart.

Brant is pure perfection as he pulls out all the stop to win Cait’s heart and show her that she deserves so much more than what life has thrown at her so far. With the help of family and friends he shows her what love truly means and that everything she has overcome has only made her stronger and more deserving of a future filled with happiness.

Maybe We Should is an excellent addition to the Silver Harbor series. Brant is everything good about this book and more.

I adored Cait and her sassiness in the other stories she featured in, but Brant won me over. His charm and persistence makes this story. Cait's cautiousness is opposite of Brant's openness, but it balances their relationship so well.

With Brant, you're never sure what honesty and humor will come out of his mouth.

At first, the story started off slower than I would have liked. I was debating how much I would actually enjoy this story. Once the marsh situation occurred, I was hooked. Between Cait and Brant taking care of Scrappy and their banter together, I was hooked.

I received this story as an Advance Reader's Copy. I volunteered to leave my review. All opinions are my own.

Another win from Melissa Foster. This is a wonderful story about facing your issues head on, overcoming obstacles, and finding true happiness. I loved Cait and how strong she was, and Brant made me swoon over and over. This book is full of angst and such incredible chemistry. Loved! *I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Family is not always blood. So many times it’s more of the connections you make with the people around you. Cait was given up for adoption as a baby. After dealing with a emotional childhood & a difficult relationship with her stepfather, Cait has closed herself off emotionally. She’s thrilled that she found her sisters & has made a place for herself in the community. It’s just difficult for her to let down her barriers & let people in.

Brant Remington is the complete opposite of Cait. He appears open & welcoming. He embraces all of his friends & doesn’t have barriers to shut anyone out. He is totally attracted to Cait & sets out to prove to her that she can depend on him & their attraction. He is hoping that the family atmosphere of Silver Lakes helps him convince her that it’s okay to let people in.

Melissa Foster doesn’t just write a story. She sets the stage with her first book in the series & builds on it with every new addition. Her books can be read as stand alone stories but for the true experience, you should read them in order. Her signature is shown in her warm & relatable characters & their friendships that feel closer than family. She has nailed a small town atmosphere from its gossipy but well meaning inhabitants to the underlying threads of secrets untold. Losing myself in a good romance is one of the most relaxing activities for me & Ms. Foster’s books are some of the best. From the first page to the last word, her stories pull you in & don’t let you disconnect until you’ve finished. My emotions feel like they’ve gone through a wringer. I love her ability to write a story that allows me escape for a time.

Cait and Brant's story was emotional. The chemistry between these two was intense but sometimes, it felt like Cait was undeserving of Brant. He was sweet and caring and he knows Cait is unattainable. But still, he's persistent, trying to break her walls. She didn’t make it easy on him. Until he proves he truly cares for her. It really took time for me to understand Cait and definitely see her reasons. I enjoyed their story.

Cait and Brant....wow! Cait has had such a troubled childhood that she keeps herself in a small bubble of people she has learned to trust but that doesn't come easily for her. It's taken her years to get where she currently is, however, that doesn't mean she believes she'll ever have a happily ever after. Enter Brant and he is so amazing! He is just what Cait needs to overcome her past. His patience and willingness to be there for her and help her move at her speed to get to a better place is perfect! He does so much to show her he cares and with the help and support of the sisters she's recently found, the family she's made with her friends and Brant's family, Cait slowly finds what she needs...Brant! Another feel good Melissa Foster story with characters who are family or become family and have each other's backs all the time! Loved it! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I loved Brant and Cait's sweet, sexy story! He was the perfect guy to help Cait break free of her painful past. There were so many things that I loved about Brant and Cait's story - the mermaid connection, the banter, Brant's family, visiting Cape Cod... and the lists goes on. One of my favorite scenes is when Brant shows up at Wicked Ink to see Cait, and I absolutely loved Scrappy, the dog that they rescued. I can't wait to return to Silver Island!

When the question is “Maybe we should?” The answer is a most definite YES!

I have enjoyed the other book in this series and found this one to be just as enjoyable.

Can’t and Brant have great chemistry - but she just needs to let all of her traumatic experiences of her upbringing to allow herself to be loved the way she should. How can Brant convince Cait that she had “family” that loves her on Silver Island? Cait has one huge hurdle that she needs to meet head-on before she can let herself be loved the way she deserves to be loved!

Pick up this book and lose yourself in another Silver Harbor adventure!

So many things happen in this book, but when it comes down to it, trust and communication are the truest things in life.

Brant is such an open and giving man. Cait is closed off and not interested, in anything. Will Brant be able to break through her walls and give her what she needs? Will Cait be able to open up and give him what he needs?

This story covers a topic that is very delicate. The confrontation in the conference room was epic, but I have a hard time believing that what happens after would actually happen in real life. But again, this is a book and escape from real life so c'est la vie.

Ms Foster handles the tough topic well and she covers a myriad of emotions in this story. It's a topic that is hard to handle in a romance, but she did it and she did it well.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. It was sweet, heartwarming and steamy. The book held my attention and I didn't want to put it down. It book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book 2 in the Silver Harbor series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as other books by this author.

It’s a pleasure to come back to Melissa Foster’s romance universe and for a few blissful hours forget all the troubles of the real world. I have reviewed quite a few of her Love in Bloom books and I’m always looking forward to seeing the familiar faces and re-connecting with the recurring characters.

In Maybe We Will we got introduced to three siters- Abby, Deidra, and Cait. Abby already got her HEA with Aiden and now it’s the turn of her newly-found half-sister Cait. Ava de Messiere, Abby, Deidra, and Cait’s sister got pregnant as a teenager and was forced by her overbearing parents to give up her baby Cait. Cait had a kind adoptive mother, but what happened to this lovely, creative girl after her second mum died? We know there must have been something, since Cait was always cautious, weary of making new acquaintances, even after it became clear her half-sisters absolutely adore her. Cait’s lack of trust means she won’t let Brant Remington, a boatbuilder and Silver Island golden boy, come close enough to ask her for a date. There’s a spark, but what will it take to persuade Cait he is a man of his word? We quickly get an answer when Brant saves Cait and an adorable little dog from drowning. Brant is determined to show Cait she is fist and foremost safe with him.

You know the guy is special when he really ‘sees’ you and cares about all the little things that are important to you. Cait has tried to keep her new family life and her work life (she is a tattoo artist) separate, but all these people want only what is the best for this lovely girl who is still suffering from the trauma of her past and we know that together they will help her put it behind and let her live in her present. Having said that, I felt Brant was a bit too eager to start dating Cait- I probably would have run for the hills if someone was that pushy. He kept saying that if he wasn’t one of the good guys, people on the island would have known it and told Cait, so she should trust him implicitly, but somehow this argument didn’t exactly convince me.
If you’re a fan of Melissa’s, you know there will be lots of family and friends’ scenes as well as hot and passionate romance, both of them being different sides of love that works its own kind of healing magic on all of us. As this is already Book 94 (yes, Melissa is a very prolific author), the book sometimes felt a bit overcrowded with the characters from the previous books making their appearance, at the expense of focusing more on the main couple. If this is your first book by Melissa, I would suggest starting from Book 1 in this particular sub-series, Maybe We Will, which will give you the background story of Cait’s birth mother.
Looking forward to the next story in the series!

Cait is having a harder time resisting Brant lately. Then he goes and rescues her and a dog from the marsh, and co-adopts the dog with her. Now she's finding it even harder to resist the man with his kind nature and his beautiful smile. Will she let him past her walls completely? Or have the scars from her past done too much damage to her? Is her heart filled with too much fear at taking that leap with Brant?

Brant has been drawn to the gorgeous, skittish woman he calls Caity ever since she appeared on the island. He flirts and he charms, but he knows the shadows he sees in her eyes are there for a reason. Rescuing her and a dog from the marsh, though, then offering to co-adopt the dog with her has given him a way to reach her, to scale the walls she keeps around herself. He knows she's wary, but he's determined to get herself to open up completely to him, to get her to see how he feels about her. Now she just has to figure out her part and let him in.

Cait - my God, I just wanted to give this woman a huge hug the whole way through. She had been through so much, was so guarded, but I could tell even before she opened up to Brant that she had so much love to give. I love the way Brant sweetly, gently (and so so deliciously) wooed her and found his way into her heart. Sweet, swoony and sexy - now I can't wait for more Silver Harbor.
