Okay, the second book held my interest much more than the first. It moved faster and didn't get bogged down in backstory. I liked Jem more this time around and am glad the secondary characters are getting more fleshed out.

The love triangle began to take off (Team Rhys!) and the murder mystery was pretty good. I could definitely use more Jem/Rhys heart-to-heart chats. Maybe they can team up to solve the next mystery?

The scenery stole the show as did the book cover. I realized I was reading two different cozy romance books set in the Isles of Scilly at the same time. Must be a sign I need to visit! This is a solid second installment to the series. I'm down for the third.

This was my first cozy mystery and I really enjoyed it. All the characters are so loveable. I really like how there's a big focus on the friendship between the three women and not a massive focus on the romance aspect. I also really enjoyed the mystery that we were following throughout this story. I liked the reveal at the end and I was glad it made sense in regards to the rest of the plot. Overall, I would definitely continue on with this series and I would recommend it to anyone who loves mystery novels!

Jem, Pauley, and Mikki are on their way to the First Annual Pirate Extravaganza in Jem's new boat, Bellatrix. There are no docking slips in Tresco, so they go around the island to anchor near the beach at Candlewick Castle. As they wade ashore, they see vultures working on what turns out to be the dead body of a man who turns out to be Hermie Castleberry. Of course, they can't just report the body, Jem has to swim out to find the sunken boat and see a chest with ropes attached which probably held the man under water. The boat is very fancy. When the police arrive, Hack chews Jem out for disturbing the crime scene in spite of the fact that Jem and Hack are beginning to be interested in each other. When they get to Tresco, they find Rhys (Jen's teenaged boyfriend) dressed in a suit waiting to meet with Hermie.

However, Rhys is soon arrested for the murder; a witness claims he was arguing with Hermie and threatened to kill him, and a knife and chainmail gloves are buried near his house. Then Jem, Pauli, and Mikki go into full detective mode in spite of Hack telling them to stay out of it. When Jem goes to talk with another person who might know something, she finds one of the so called witnesses has his throat cut. Whoever is guilty is trying to kill real witnesses, and bribing people to give false witness. Will Jem be able to save all her friends, and will she be able to decide which man she prefers?

This is a clever, exciting, and suspenseful murder mystery with likeable, smart good guys and nasty bad guys.

I am absolutely loving this series so far!!!.
I love the setting of St. Morwenna and the other islands they visit off the coast of Cornwall.. Its described so beautifully that its definitely someplace I would like to visit someday.
Jemma is who I want to be when I grow up. lol She is a librarian who at the moment is back on the island of St. Morwenna where she grew up, catologing her best friend Pauleys familys extensive library..
In this book Jemma. Pauley, and MIcki are headed to the pirate festival when they stumble across a dead body..
Jemma decides to take a look and see what she can discover from the body and the crime scene.. Which lands her in a little bit of hot water with the cheif of police, and maybe potential love interest Hack..

When her childhood best friend/ boyfriend Rhys is arrested for the crime, Jemma and her friends, have to figure out a way to prove someone is framing him.. I love Rhys, he has struggled in the past after the death of his brother, but seems to be improving his life one day at a time.. and his cute little escape artist puppy Buck is helping him. We have two potential love interests., Hack and Rhys. and while Im rooting for a second chance romance with Rhys, I do really like both guys..

They mystery of trying to figure out who the real killer is and who is trying to frame Rhys is really good. I had no idea who the killer was unil it was revealed..

This is definitely one of my new favorite series and I can't wait to continue on in this series!! If you love a good cozy mystery with a great cast of characters set in a beautiful place, with a great mystery to solve you should absolutely read this series.. I think this is one that I will collecting in physical copies..

Thank you #Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Death at Candlewick Castle by Emma Jameson in exchange for an honest review. Jem is working at the library in Cornwall and afterwork she goes out to have fun with her friends, only to find a dead body on the beach of the castle. This book is filled with twists and turns. I would love to wander around in the UK looking at the castles and beaches.

Jemima Jago is living her best life. Cataloguing the oldest library in Cornwall means she gets to return home to the Isles of Scilly and stay with her bff Paulie, who just happens to own said library. She has also recently become the proud, make that very proud, owner of a small wooden boat called Bellatrix to ferry herself and her friends around in.

When Jem, Paulie and the third member of their trio, Mickie, head off for the first annual pirate extravaganza they are hoping to find buried treasure unfortunately the three ladies discover a dead body instead!  Having recently solved a difficult murder mystery on the islands Jem can't help getting involved once again especially as new police sergeant and possible beau Hack would rather she didn't!

This is the second book in the Jem Jago series and I enjoyed it once again. The main characters are more rounded now and show more of their personalities and foibles. The beautiful landscapes and traditions of the Scilly Islands are also major players and actual locations as well as those from Ms Jameson vivid imagination are identified at the end. This is becoming a fun series and I will definitely be on the look out for more.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own.  I very much enjoyed this easy summer read, and recommend it.

Jemima Jago is hoping for a fabulous Summer, but she manages to find another body and it’s murder yet again! When the police are targeting a friend for the murder of the newest resident of St. Morwena, Jem, works to provide the police with other suspects.

It’s supposed to be a Summer of sun and fun, not one of gloom and doom. So Jem does her best to help solve the murder and salvage her Summer while saving her friend from jail.

This is a really fun series set in Cornwall and I can’t get enough of it. I hope Jem never finishes cataloging the books and stays in St Morwenna for a very long time to come.

In the Scillies, Jemima Jago finds another body. Hermie Castleberry is lying on the beach below Candlewick Castle, and it's not a natural death...

There are soon plenty of potential suspects as Hermie has got several backs up. But when a further body turns up, Jem has to get to the truth before the wrong person is convicted
