I loved reading Orphans of St Halibut’s and was so pleased to see the characters back, along with grumpy and determined Pamela- she is potentially the star of the show! More antics, mishaps, mini disasters and beating the odds will keep readers turning pages until the very end!
I love how the orphans overcome just about everything and those who are villainous or bad get what they deserve at some point and in some clever way. Perfect for those needing a laugh and a brilliant read!

The description of The Orphans of St. Halibut’s as being a cross between Roald Dahl and Lemony Snicket perfectly encapsulates this series. Pamela’s Revenge is a darkly hilarious adventure story, with a dastardly villain and a bunch of courageous children getting revenge on the untrustworthy, greedy and downright evil adults on their lives.

I would recommend this book to children aged 8 upwards. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

I was delighted to be able to read this sequel! The first book was darkly hilarious and I particularly enjoyed all the funny and silly acronyms, including DEATH. This sequel, Pamela’s Revenge was equally funny and dark, with lots of beautiful illustrations that children will love.

I always enjoy a story where the adults get their come uppance and where children get to really have their revenge on adults who have wronged them and this is such a good way to show that! I particularly enjoyed new villain Benadrylla Crumplepatch and her sickly sweet evilness was great fun to read.

Thank you to Macmillan’s Children’s books for this e-book review copy.

Twisty, turny and downright HILARIOUS! Loved the first book and this witty sequel is EVEN BETTER (how is that possible?!). I snort-laughed my way through the whole thing and especially this bit I can't say because SPOILERS but I need everyone I know to read this book so we can laugh about how clever and wonderful it is, please. LOVE.

I have been looking forward to this wonderful sequel for such a long time! The first The Orphans of St Halibut’s book was one of my absolute favourite reads of 2020. I love its wonderfully dark, Dickensian comedy of errors with chapter after chapter of hilarious, twisted escapades – it’s one of those books where I laughed out loud page after page and have continued to smile every time I’ve come back to it since.

In Pamela’s Revenge, disaster has returned to the town of Sad Sack. Not only has the children’s beloved St Halibut’s orphanage burned down but the mysterious and somewhat intimidating Benadrylla Crumplepatch wants to build a new railway line, destroying their new home in the forest. The children must find a way to outsmart her and her bizarre company, and deal with the over-the-top bureaucracy of D.E.A.T.H (Department for Education, Assimilation, Training and Health) and the Ministry of F.U.N. (Forms, Underlining and Notices).

Pamela’s Revenge is overflowing with children getting the better of adults, fortune-telling tea and a goat who shouldn’t be messed with – all wrapped up in plenty of sticky marshmallows. This off-the-wall story will capture readers in its twisted tale and take them on a hilariously silly ride with children who know what they want and will stop at nothing to get it!

Thank you to Macmillan’s Children’s Books for this brilliant book!
