With an ending like that, I felt that all of the time and emotions invested in getting to that point was wasted. Allie is clearly holding onto the past and though the flashbacks drew me in, I can't help but feel that all 5 friends would have been happier if they'd never met each other in the first place.

The story was told over multiple timelines. I liked the locked in setting. I am a big fan of these sort of books. I was not a fan of all the flashbacks.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

A very closed and claustrophobic feel to this one, with some good twists that genuinely surprised me. The remote setting helped with this too. Great writing to make it feel as though you're there with the characters in the snowstorm.

This was a locked room thriller with plenty of drama and unexpected twists, I did not guess the ending and found myself quite engaged throughout

I think the dynamic of these 5 friends and the mystery around their distance kept the pace at a steady speed which added to the drama and suspense when they were at the cabin. However, I hated the ending and unfortunately found the way in which it came to end at the cabin was a little messy and far fetched, although I assume that is what happens when you tell a story- it requires a little embellishment from the author but I honestly can’t get over the ending, just ruined it for me

Chilling!

I read this during the mini-heatwave we've just had and Jones' writing was so evocative, I felt like I was in the snowstorm in the Scottish Highlands too!

We Are All Liars is a closed room whodunnit, full of deception and a cast of unruly characters. Well written, absorbing, and gripping. Even the characters I didn't like had things about them to make me root for them.

Kept me guessing, even up to the very last chapter.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review.

We are all liars is set in a remote cabin in the Scottish highlands, where the ‘fierce five’ have been invited to celebrate Gail’s 35th birthday. Each fo the five have different characters and interests. Gail is the adventurous, well-prepared leader, Allie is a write who is a bit of a loner, Emily is super happy with Adam and their twins. Stacie is talkative but secretive too and finally Diana who is a rebel from a rough background. Each of the characters are well written, though they seem an unlikely group of friends.

The story is set in the present during a severe snowstorm interspersed with the police interviewing a person of interest. It took me a while to get into the style of writing, but it all became easier once I did.

This is full of secrets and lies as they investigate the disappearance of a friend, and the mystery unfolds. I found this to be an interesting and enjoyable mystery thriller.

There was a lot of suspense in this book, dramatic and secretive. It was clear what had happened to Emily from quite early on but I expected more from the reveal of the secret. It wasn’t the easiest read but I kept going in the hope it would go somewhere. The ending was very disappointing for me. I believe many will enjoy this book but overall it wasn’t for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.

This was based on a familiar equation of friends stuck in a snowstorm with secrets being revealed. the concept was good but the flashbacks into the past were disconcerting. So sometimes it was hard to grasp the scenes and connect them. But later the book settled down and became a fun read. A good thriller.

The Fierce Five are invited to celebrate Gail’s 35th birthday at her remote cabin in the Scottish Highlands. Gail is the adventurer of the group and is always well prepared. Then there’s writer Allie who lives inside herself and is somewhat of a loner, there’s beautiful Emily serenely happy with Adam and her much-loved twins, then Stacie, twice married, talkative but masking something, and finally, there’s Diana, a rebel from a tough background and affected by life.

The story of the events during a severe snowstorm is told in the present, with nonchronological flashbacks to the past and interspersed with police interviews with a POI. This the beginning of the novel makes it a difficult read however, over time it becomes more manageable. Though I did not love the style in the beginning.

The characters in themselves were written well, each individual is portrayed with all their issues, their thoughts, and burdens and this forms each person's character very well. At times they seem to be an unlikely group of friends, or maybe most of the time.

This novel contains secrets and lies as they find a reason or a suspect for the disappearance of a friend occurring in the Highlands. As the mystery unfolds as does the desire to continue reading grows.

Overall, this is my first book by the author and it won’t be the last. It’s a good mystery thriller that keeps you interested throughout.

Thanks to NetGalley and Orion for this arc.

A sinister psychological thriller. Five friends meet up for a reunion in a remote Scottish cabin. A slow pace that was difficult to read with a disappointing end.

This was fairly readable, but swiftly became so absurd that I had to abandon it. It's very atmospheric, but it felt a little as though it was intended to fill the trope of the chiller thriller. I found it increasingly more unbelievable, and by the end I no longer cared what was going to happen. A quick read, but there are far better books in this genre.

Once you get your head around the threads that flip between past and present you get a really good book. Like most people I want to have my books to be easy to read. Had to work a bit harder in this one but boy was it worth it. Just great.

A really well written book, with great characters and a thrilling storyline. It has some good twist and turns in it and is a good physiological thriller.

I really enjoyed this book it was well written with a compelling storyline and characters that were all well developed and brought something to the atmosphere of the book. I was gripped and couldn't put it down. Twisty and unpredictable and left me guessing until the end.

A psychological thriller with a classic premise - a group of friends fracturing - which is an intriguing read and has the benefit of a clever little ending.

This is a story that reveals its secrets over time, I liked the "locked in" setting and the "fierce five" all had something compelling about them. If anything it suffered from a disjointed first quarter, it was hard to grasp the characters, the flashback sequences were kind of random. Once you got the feel for it though it was hugely enjoyable.

Overall a good read made better by unexpected moments.

I like this more than I imagined! I was pulled into this story and I couldn’t stop reading to find out where the story would go next. Just when I thought I’d figured it out something would pop out from the shadows and surprise me, changing everything I thought I knew.

I loved the atmosphere the author created. It was dark and eerie and downright scary. It fit the book perfectly and kept me enthralled in the story. I wanted to find out everything I could about the characters and their past. I enjoyed the flashbacks and didn’t find them confusing, and they just gave me more insight into events before the book.

I’ll be checking out previous books and any future works because they have a talent for a good story! Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for a chance to read and review this book.

After reading the blurb this seemed like my kind of story and instantly had me thinking of some of my favourite books by the likes of Ruth Ware and Lucy Foley.
However, this did not live up to those expectations.
I almost felt like I was forcing myself to continue reading this, which wasn't great and was probably why it took me several months of picking it up and putting it down to eventually finish it.
I wasn't rooting for any of the characters because none of them were particularly likeable, which isn't always necessarily a bad thing but not having even one to get behind meant that I wasn't as invested as I could or should have been.
It felt very slow paced and seemed to drag on.
Quite a bit felt rather far fetched too.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
