This is a bit of a brainteaser. She knows she didn't do it, but does she really? Do you as a reader believe her? There are many gaps to be filled, the main character can't explain everything, and she even doubts herself from time to time. She also decides not to tell everyone everything she knows, even though she knows she should. She can't be totally sure about whom to trust. She is however sure someone is trying to make her look guilty.

I felt like the book could have moved on a bit faster, that it was lagging at times. Not enough to really annoy me, but there was some repetition that could have been cut out. I did feel for the main character, and I can understand the self doubt at the same time you know that you didn't do it, but there are things you can't explain. There's a bit of anxiety and distress in the book that it can feel a bit heavy, but I think it works very well in this book. It's one of those books you have to be in the right mood to read to fully appreciate it. You have to feel it, and let the story carry you, and you need to trust that the author knows what she is doing. She does. She knows what she's doing.

Wow what can I say having already been a fan of this authors Gina Harte crime series I was excited to read this stand alone psychological thriller and I certainly wasn’t disappointed once I had picked it up I couldn’t put it down. It was a complete page Turner from start to finish and had me reading well into the night as I wanted to know what happened next. So many twists and turns and happenings to keep the reader on their toes. I loved how the characters were all interlinked and entwined with each other and how the theme of sleepwalking was explored throughout the book giving the reader an insight into what it feels like to live with this condition. I am already looking forward to the next read from this author as each book just keeps getting better and better.

Very different to this author's Harte series but just as well written with plenty of tension and unexpected twists all the way to the last paragraph!
I did figure out most of the twists before they were revealed but an enjoyable read none the less.

Marissa wants a quiet life. She is an awkward person struggling with people and her emotions but this was down to the murder of her mother as a young child and the pain she endured at her family’s care. When her new neighbour moves in and soon strange things begin to happen. Is her sleepwalking as harmless as she thought? Her neighbour, Glen and her new work contact, Ben, also seem to me more than meets the eye.
I’m a massive fan of Carla’s Gina Harte series and have devoured them all. When I read she had a stand-alone to be released I was intrigued. But by no means was I disappointed with this! Outstanding read and kept me hooked!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you for NetGalley for allowing me to preview this book for my honest opinion.
I felt like the first few chapters of this book was super busy with lots of information for me to remember and file away for future use. Once we got past the "setting of the story" page, I felt the story was very interesting and kept me turning the pages. This book has a little bit of everything: prior murder, conflict with the neighbor, creepy co worker and sleepwalking! .

It’s a given that any Gina Harte novel I will adore and will be awarded a full five star rating. However this is a new genre for Carla Kovach so I went into the unknown with this one.

I wasn’t sure how I’d enjoy this as I’m sk used to the relationships between her regular characters in the series I was unsure if she could set that apart from this novel.

I didn’t need to worry though as the author got this standalone psychological thriller spot on!

The opening chapters were expertly written and pulled me into this new story with ease. It certainly set the pace for the rest of the novel.

The first third of the book introduced us to Marissa’s world which frankly was busy … a lot was going on but this opens up the chapters for the various storylines that run parallel to each other through the story.

The setting and characters were great. I loved the duel timeline as it gave us an insight to her childhood which fed nicely into the present day.

The sleepwalking element to the story did it for me. Who knows what they do while sleepwalking and this really set all my suspicions off with theories.

I’m in awe of this author and her ability to switch to a separate genre and still have me enthralled and wanting more! I really hope she decided to write more psycho thrillers because if not that’s a talent wasted!

This book comes out the traps fast and doesn’t let up at all.

You’re on the edge of your seat, questioning everything and everyone.

The main character is so broken you can’t help but feel for her.

Read if you like CL Taylor or Lisa Jewell.

This one starts off quite creepy and becomes very mysterious. Troubled by her mums murder, Marissa then has some interesting characters enter her life and becomes immediately suspicious.
Lots of unravelling. I did actually guess the ending but this did not deter from the action and how it all unfolded.

I’m a big fan of the Gina Harte series and have only read one or two of Carla’s stand alone books so seeing this I was curious about how it was going to be, it was such a fantastic read that now I’m finished, hope that Carla will continue to write more psychological thrillers alongside her crime fiction. Definitely a five star (and more if I could give it ) read for me.

This author is new to me, but I'm sure glad to have come across this book! Such suspense and drama! I was on the edge of my seat with every page! Marissa witnessed something horrific as a child, and now as an adult bad things keep happening all around her! Since she tends to sleepwalk, she's left wondering if she's responsible for all these bad incidents. If it's not her fault, then who is trying to frame her?
If you love suspense, this is a must read! I'm grateful I received an advanced copy from netgalley for me to read and review.

Carla Kovach does it again!! What She Did is an absolutely brilliant psychological thriller!! I know every time I start a new Carla book it's going to grab me and hook me in. I was gripped from the first page and definitely didn't see that ending coming. Worth more than five stars.

Marissa lives alone in her little flat, trying to get on with her life after traumatically watching her mother get murdered in front of her when she was a young child. The one day she finds out that her only remaining relative had been killed, which brings everything in her past back to her. Marissa is also worried as someone spotted what they thought was her outside her uncle's house, but she's sure she wasn't there... even though she is prone to sleepwalking. Could she have done something bad in her sleep? When Marissa's nasty neighbour is found dead next Marissa realises that the police may believe her to be the killer. She is sure that someone is trying to set her up and stalking her. Who can she trust? Can she find out the truth about what has happened before she gets the blame?

I'm a huge fan of Carla Kovach's books and loved this one. A thrilling and tense story that keeps you turning the pages and guessing until the shocking ending. I liked the range of characters, twists, and also how the book moved between past and present to give us more insight into Marissa's life. An absolutely gripping thriller - recommended!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

A good read.
Marissa lives alone in her tiny one-bed flat. It’s quiet and safe; all she’s ever wanted since the night her mother was killed in front of her. But when the police knock on her door with the news that her last remaining family member has been murdered, she comes face to face with the trauma she has spent a lifetime running from. A witness saw her car outside his house that day, but Marissa knows she’s innocent. She hasn’t seen her uncle in years and remembers going to bed in her own home that night. But she’s had blackouts before and can’t always trust her memory.
I'm doing more promotion on its release date among my fellow Authors Bloggers Family Friends and followers.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advanced copy of this psychological thriller.
