Lucy Clarke is a real teller of stories. The background of each character is built beautifully and with great care, in order to differentiate easily between the ladies.. Lucy has built the characters in such a way that they really stick in your mind.
The blurb gives a hint as to the ending of the story, but it is just a hint. The ending, and the revelations leading up to it, blew me away. An excellent read.

A slow-burning, character-driven thriller, One of the Girls sets us on a journey of suspense from the first chapter: Six women, with complex friendships, are on a hen weekend on a fictional Greek island – and something bad has happened on the last night which will bind them all together forever.

We then jump between the telling of the story from the women’s arrival on the island – switching perspectives between each of the six characters - and glimpses from an unknown narrator in the future, looking back on the weekend following the eventful last night.

But what has happened? What are the secrets that are alluded to in the flashbacks? We gradually find out as we hear more from each person’s perspective. Everyone has a secret they are holding close to their chests – from hen Lexi’s best friend Bella, who we quickly learn has been keeping something from her girlfriend, Fen, which she has found out; to the mysterious Ana, Lexi’s new friend from yoga; and the tense Eleanor, groom Ed’s sister whom no-one really knows.

I found the story a little slow moving, but the gradual reveal of each character’s pasts, intentions and struggles was compelling; and I enjoyed the complexities of each woman and the unfolding of the hidden connections which definitely picked up and surprised me towards the end.

I found this book quite slow to start with, but I'm glad I persevered as it rewarded me with plenty of twists, turns and an unexpected ending.

A character driven book, each chapter is dedicated one of the 6 friends, each with a secret, who are on a Greek island for a hen party. Unfortunately I didn't warm to any of the characters but they were well written and it was easy to follow each point of view without any confusion.

As a murder mystery, it was an enjoyable read and I will definitely look out for more for Lucy Clarke.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy in return for an honest review.

Lexi Lowe and her hens travel to Greece for her hen party, there are plenty of secrets being harboured during the weekend away. The final night ends in secrets coming to the forefront and a change in their lives forever.

Loved how the story unfolded and the chapters used to gain insight of each character. I found it quite difficult to warm to Bella throughout the story, due to the nature of her character.

I thought I had the ending figured out but was completely thrown off.

Fantastic read.

⏩for synopsis

Well this was my first LC book and after this read certainly won’t be my last! WHAT A READ!

I must admit going into this I thought I’d read a thousand books like this, but well I was wrong, I loved every second of it! How the lies and deception were woven into each characters stories. You never knew who to trust or what each characters motives were, how they appeared to be linked and nothing made sense! 🫤 I was wizzing through the pages just to find out anything out!

Completely character driven I found all the characters ‘main’ characters within their own right; they all had a background, a game to play and a story to tell. The author drip fed you little clues throughout and it was literally blink and you’d miss them. A complete mind bend.

Although it had a complicated plot and a cast of characters, I had no problem keeping up, found it easy to read and concluded neatly. Very much recommend!

With thanks to author @lucyclarke_author @netgalley and @harpercollinsuk for allowing me to read this one early!

OUT: May 26th

What starts out as a girly hen weekend turns in to a real rollercoaster of secrets, lies, deception and surprises. Lexi is getting married and her and her friends go off to a villa for her hen party. This is a tale with the past expertly woven in to the present.
I loved each of the characters and the way they were inextricably linked with each other.
Lots of events that I didn't see coming and a real page turner. Also loved the setting, you really feel that you are there with them!. A great read, kept me guessing. Highly recommend.

I loved this, a thrilling murder mystery read about friendship, love, deception, lies and secrets.

It’s a hen weekend for Lexi and her 5 friends in a villa on a remote island in Greece, with each chapter dedicated to a different girl, I liked how the characters are developed throughout the story and intertwined together. All the characters have some big secret, with connections you don’t see coming. The story takes many twists and turns. A definite page turner. I was totally engrossed. It keeps you guessing right up to the end.

I really enjoyed the descriptions of the location, you feel like your right there hearing the waves, feeling the sea breeze. it’s the perfect escapism read, A great thriller written really well. Definitely recommend this one.

One Of The Girls is a book I really enjoyed, I would have enjoyed it more if I’d been in Greece when I read it but hay ho you can’t have it all 😂😂
Lexi Lowe is on her hen weekend when we meet her she’s with five of her friends on the Greek island of Aegos. They all have secrets and they all are linked to each other but I didn’t guess hardly any of the twists. There is friction between them from the start as their different personalities rub some up the wrong way. Lexi is trying to keep the peace but you kind of know it’s not going to end well.
The book flowed well and I enjoyed the different characters and what they brought to the book, I don’t think it was perhaps a psychological thriller but it didn’t matter as I enjoyed it anyway. I have read other books by Lucy Clarke and knew this was going to be up my street.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book I’ve read by Lucy and I definitely enjoyed this one more! The short chapters kept my attention and I loved the different viewpoints! Didn’t see the ending coming and I suspected everyone! Plot twist after plot twist and very well thought out characters!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One Of The Girls by @lucyclarke_author

One is a Liar
One is a Stranger
One is a Cheater
Who is the killer.

Lexi is getting married so that can only mean one thing, a hen do set in the amazing picturesque Greece.
Six women brought to together by Lexi to celebrate her upcoming wedding, but not everything is as it seems, with hidden secrets to be revealed.

This is my first book I have read by Lucy Clarke and I can certainly say it won't be my last.
With the thoughts of Who done it and to whom from early on you get yourself hooked on this amazing storyline and find you can't put it down.

I would like to thank @harpercollinsuk @harperfiction @netgalley for giving me the chance to read this before publication on 26th May 2022.

I would certainly recommend you read this book when it officially comes out, and I'm off to read more books by Lucy Clarke.

Fast paced, easy reading with some delightful twists and turns to unpack as I read. Finished in two sittings which is the sign of a good book. Recommend.

Lexi is getting married, so what better way to celebrate than to have a hen weekend with her five friends. Tucked away in a secluded villa on a picturesque island in Greece, secrets and lies between the group of friends start to reveal themselves.

I thoroughly enjoyed One Of The Girls by Lucy Clarke and found myself racing through it every opportunity I got. It's an easy read, full of twists and turns that kept me guessing right to the end. Highly recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley, Harper Collins Uk. Harper fiction for sharing this book with me in return for an honest opinion

I found the book rather hard going as it was slow. There were lots of characters and that seemed overwhelming at times.

The six of us arrived on that beautiful Greek island dreaming of sun-drenched beaches and blood orange sunsets, ready to lose ourselves in the wild freedom of a weekend away with friends.

On the first night we swam under a blanket of stars. On the second night the games began on our clifftop terrace. On the third night the idyll cracked, secrets and lies whispering on the breeze.

And by the final night there was a body on the rocks below...

I've read all of Lucy Clarke's books and I think this one might just be one of my favourites. I'd class it more of a character-driven story than a thriller, it's smart and well plotted, with a goood twist, and all wrapped up in a very satisfying conclusion. I've always found Lucy Clarke's novels so vivid and descriptive, and this was no exception. It took me a few chapters to get to grips with all the characters - the chapters alternate between the six women and an unknown narrator, so I didn't feel like I had much chance to warm up to the women, though I did really like Fen. Each woman had her own backstory, some were more interesting than others, but overall I really enjoyed the book - definitely recommend reading when it's out!

This was an easy read that would be a perfect holiday read. The pace was very slow with a lot of characters introduce, but it did pick up just after half way.

Thank you to @netgalley, @lucyclarke_author and the publisher for the advanced e-copy of Lucy's upcoming thriller 'One of the Girls'. After having really enjoyed 'You Let Me In' and 'The Castaways' I went into this book with high hopes and it didn't disappoint. As with Lucy's previous book, expect beautiful scenery but also heart-racing thrills.

Set on the beautiful fictional Greek island of Aegos, it is the scene for Lexi's hen party. Lexi is due to marry Ed and what better way to prepare than having a sun-soaked trip with her closest friends? Lexi is joined by oldest friends Bella and Robyn, Bella's girlfriend Fen, her soon to be sister-in-law Eleanor and her newest friend, Ana. There might be the typical Greek sunshine but dark clouds are looming over these friendships as old tensions and new deceit threaten to spoil the trip.

I liked the fact that each chapter focuses on one of the six women, with their individual back stories and how they have an impact on the present. Fen's previous traumatic experience in Greece looms large over her failure to relax until she faces these demons. Robyn, reeling from a failed marriage takes time to consider who she really is. Bella is carrying her guilt from leaving her job as a nurse whilst encountering relationship problems. Eleanor, grieving for her fiancé, carries this trauma into the trip along with the knowledge of how another woman has destroyed her happiness. Ana holds a secret and it's only a matter of time before it's discovered. And Lexi, the hen, thinks all is well and they are going to have the time of their lives. Little does she know...

This is the perfect summer read with secrets and deception at the heart. I whizzed through it but, on a lounger, in the sun with the smell of sun-tan lotion lingering in the air, would have been the ultimate reading experience.

Another brilliant Lucy Clarke story!
A group of hens each have there own issue's and secrets stay in a Greek Villa in the middle of nowhere, what could possibly go wrong?
Very cleverly written so the reader is left puzzled as to who did what to who.
I loved this book and was left feeling rather sad went it ended.

My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy and have given my honest opinion.

This book started off slowly, getting to know the 6 main characters and learning more about their lives. Lexi is getting married and Bella, Fen, Eleanor, Robyn and Ana are coming to Greece to celebrate with her. They all hold secrets and their lives all entwine somehow. I enjoyed the build up of the characters and learning more about them but I feel it was all dragged out a bit. On the 65% Mark it started picking up for me, secrets were revealed, links to each other were discovered and the overall story began to blossom. The last 20% I couldn't put down as I needed to know what was going to happen and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Based on that, I'd give the book an overall 3.5 stars but I've rounded it down to 3 based on the fact that the first 60% dragged a bit for me.

I loved this book. A group of women head off on a long hen weekend. Lexi is bride to be and ahe and her hens are all hiding truths from each other and themselves.
The situation escalates with tragic consequences and yet the story is filled with hope and new possibilities.
