WHAT A BOOK!! I’m a huge fan of Lucy Clarke anyway but this book was fantastic! The story follows a group of friends on a hen party in an isolated villa in Greece. It’s written from each of their perspectives throughout the book which keeps it fast paced and interesting. There are so many twists and turns in the book it’s impossible to put it down. Very rarely does a book make me gasp out loud but this one had me on the edge of my seat and I absolutely LOVED it! Hugely recommend! 5 stars!

Ladies, we've all been on one of those hen parties haven't we, where some people know each other, some people don't, it's all supremely awkward and there is one girl who is an absolute nightmare? This book takes that all-too-familiar setting and weaves in a complex web of secrets and lies which all come together quite satisfyingly in the end. Add to that the Greek island setting and it makes for a perfect beach read. This isn't my favourite of Lucy Clarke's novels, but it still had me racing through it wanting to know what happened next!

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I spent the first half of this book flicking back and forth trying to remember who all the characters were. It was rather frustrating but I stuck with it because I had really loved the author’s first book. It definitely got easier and more enjoyable at around 75% in. I just hope other readers are just as persistent as I was. I really think this would be better on screen.

When I saw that there was a new Lucy Clarke book available on NetGalley, I immediately requested it, and I was very happy that this book met ALL of my expectations !! The premise of the book is that bride to be Lexi Lowe is going on her hen do with five other friends, to the fictional Greek Island of Aegos. However although this group may be small, there are plenty of secrets and tensions are high as the holiday comes to its climatic ending.

The first thing I want to comment on is how much I love Clarkes writing. The scenery of the island and location was written beautifully, and I felt utterly transported to this warm sunny island - even whilst reading on a cold winters day! The plot was interesting throughout, and with the slow unravelling of each of the hens secrets I was never bored, as I was kept constantly guessing on where things were going until the final chapters. I also really loved how in depth each character was written, and how connected the group was. The separate character arcs and different short POVs switching each chapter really aided my interest, especially seeing the different relationships between characters develop throughout the book.

I loved the ending, this was the perfect conclusion after the climax of the book - it didn’t feel rushed and all loose ends were tied up. By this point I’d grown to really understand the six friends and actually found the final few POV changes heartwarming, smiling through it all.

Overall this was such a gripping thriller, but it also felt like so much more. I really enjoyed this one and I can’t wait to see what Clarke writes next !!

One of the Girls; Lucy Clarke
Genre: Suspense/Thriller
Rating: 3.5 stars

One of the Girls is the latest novel by bestselling author, Lucy Clarke. It’s my first book by this author but I have heard about her other books and have been wanting to read something by her for a while.
The story follows six women on an epic weekend away an idealistic Greek island. The perfect setting for an island escape or something more deadly? The story examines the themes of female friendship, secrets and letting go of the past. We get alternating perspectives told by each of the characters. The characters are realistic, fleshed out and relatable. It’s hard to choose one I liked the most. There were some shocking and clever twists.

The book was easy to read, well-paced and enjoyable. I’d recommend this one to fans of authors like Lucy Foley, Ruth Ware, Rachel Hawkins, and Kiersten Modglin.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Also sehr cool gemacht 😉!
Mein Fazit: BITTE LESEN!!!! Spannung pur!!

6 women go on holiday to Greece for a Hen Weekend. Before the end of the weekend we know from the start that someone dies.

What keeps you reading is not only discovering who it is who dies, as I certainly didn't guess, but just how it happened.

Each short chapter is from the point of view of one of the ladies, and we can soon as readers see that things may not be quite as they seem.

Yet even as the revelations came, I hadn't guessed most of it, and its certainly a book that kept me hooked and on my toes.

I loved every second of this rather addictive story, from the stunning setting, to the compulsively addictive, just need to read the next page, climax, this is Lucy Clarke at her very best.

I was wrong footed time and time again, while not really having time to think of my own theories as I was turning the pages so fast as I kept wanting to know what would happen next.

Brilliant!

Thank you to Harper Collins and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

**ARC Post**

Thank you to @harpercollinsuk @netgalley and @lucyclarke_author for my ARC copy of One of the Girls in exchange for an honest review ....

🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

I really enjoyed reading this book, I did struggle to get into it at the start as it seemed short and sharp but as I continued the story really began to flow and I was hooked!!...

I loved having the point of views from all 6 characters and grew to love/mistrust/love all of them 😅

I especially loved the tid bits of what was to come in between certain chapters (this really makes you think about who and why)

The last half of the book and more so once all the truths started to come out I was gripped, I literally could not put it down and the suspense was fantastic (I found I was chewing my lip it made me that anxious 😂)

Lucy is a new author to me and I will definitely be taking a look at her other books ....

If you love suspense, thriller and mystery then you will love this book!!

Amazing! Lucy’s books keep getting better and better. For me, her best yet. The storyline and characters so relatable. There were so many twists and turns as to what happened on this hen do. Like so many of Lucy’s books, she tells the story from the perspective of the different characters. This only adds to the brilliance of the book.

Another gripping read from Lucy Clarke, One of the Girls had me hooked from the beginning. It has all the ingredients of a great thriller—beautiful writing, compelling characters, plenty of suspense and a twisty plot that kept me guessing right till the end. A tale of secrets, lies and stormy friendships, set on a Greek island, this was a real page turner and one of the reading highlights of the year for me.

When Lexi's boyfriend proposes her best friend Bella organises a hen party; an opportunity for six women in Lexi's life to celebrate her up coming marriage. But in the beautiful villa on the Greek island underlying secrets and tensions bubble leading to confrontations between old friends and new; will all of the party return home ...alive?

I loved this thriller as the women's relationships felt very 'real' and the dynamics between them drew me in and and I was gripped; as secrets were slowly revealed and relationships tested the suspense built and I had to finish the novel in one sitting.

A tense and engaging thriller where those that are closest to you can do you the most harm.

Wow!! Loved it! I read The Castaways last year and loved how Clarke twists and turns the plot and she's done it again! I've really liked how she keeps you on your seat while tying the plot up perfectly in the end.

It took me such a long time to get my head around who was who,and their relationships with each other.
It made for a confusing beginning to the book.
Once I'd got it,it seemed everyone had a secret, and to be honest,a lot of them weren't that big,or that scandalous.

Overall,it kept me quiet for a few hours, and that's never a bad thing.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.

I really enjoyed this novel by Lucy Clarke. Fast paced and interesting it kept me engaged from the start. 6 women go to a remote Greek villa for a hen weekend, all with different issues that intertwine and twist around each other until the story reaches its finale. Well worth a read!

A very well developed story with great characters and lots of twists and turns. I really liked that this book kept you guessing in terms of what was going to happen and the ending was quite different from what I had initially expected.
Lucy Clarke has a real talent for character description and development, I felt like we really get to know these six women and their secrets. I also liked the way the author kept the chapters short and character specific as it kept the reader engaged, wanting to know what happens next and how these women's lives intertwine.
This was set in a beautiful location and the descriptions of the landscape have a poetic element to the novel which contrasted well with the more sinister elements of some of the women's past experiences.
A great read.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for the opportunity to read/review the latest book by Lucy Clarke. My favourite book of the year was The Castaways and I recently read You let me in so I knew I would enjoy the latest book by Lucy Clarke and it doesn't disappoint.

As usual Lucy's books are set near the sea and this one sees Lexi and 5 of her friends heading to the Greek island of Aegos for her hen party to celebrate her upcoming wedding.

Reading the book is almost as good as being on the island yourself with all the characters as its so well written. you really feel you get to know the characters very well and are amongst them all. After getting to know the characters a little, the book really starts to take off. Each of Lexi's friends Bella, Ana, Robyn, Fen and Robyn all have their own secrets and reasons for wanting to attend the Hen party.

The book is written from everyone's perspective and flows perfectly. Lots of tension, unexpected twists and turns, jealousy and fun along the way is this island retreat in the last days before she gets married, but someone is determined to make sure that Lexi’s marriage never happens – and that one of them doesn’t leave the island alive. A super well written book and the perfect book to take on your hols or curl up and dream about if you cant get away. Cant wait to read more by Lucy.

I enjoyed this. The story zipped along nicely. Having read a few very long, dull tomes lately this was a nice palate cleanser. I read The Sea Sisters by the same author about seven years ago so hoped this would be a similar easy read and it was. The story follows six women on a hen do in a remote farmhouse above cliffs in Greece. They don't all know each other personally but are all connected through the bride and her fiance. It did take a few chapters for the characters to all gel in my mind as six is quite a few and I enjoyed how the mystery played out. I did guess most of the twists and turns in advance but that was fine. I could really easily imagine this as a BBC or ITV Monday night drama. It was nice to lose myself on a hot Greek Island for a few hours immersed in the mess of other womens lives.

Overall a good read although it did take me a while to get into the story line and I didn't really gel with the characters.

I am not sure I will read more from this author but thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for allowing me to read this one.
