Another complex mystery from one of the best in the business. A wedding. 6 women on a hen do, both new and old friends of the bride. A dark, compelling narrative where nothing is as it seems.

Oh this was great! So enjoyable, with a good amount of intrigue and strong pacing. The relationship between the women was great, real and strong, even when things were up in the air. I enjoyed the twist at the end as something a little different from usual.

A bit of a slow starter but worth persevering with. A good read on the whole, though not especially original

One of us is a liar. One of us is a stranger. One of us is a cheater. But who could be a killer? The six of us arrived on the beautiful, sunbaked island of Aegos to leave it all behind, our suitcases packed with flip flops and beach towels, our heads full of dreams for the perfect weekend away with friends. On the first night, we laughed and danced under the stars. On the second night we went skinny dipping in the warm, summer sea. On the third night the wine loosened our tongues, the lies spilling and the masks starting to slip. And on the final night it all ignited as we celebrated around the beach fire – for someone, the holiday in Greece would be their last.

I knew from the premise that I would enjoy this read and I was not wrong. Clarke brings together a group of people who know each other, but not very well, for a hen weekend on a beautiful, albeit fictional, Greek island. We know from the beginning that people are hiding things, but how many of them have secrets?

I found this to be an addictive read, I was quickly consumed by it and wanted to keep reading to discover the secrets, and there are a lot of secrets that are revealed! The atmosphere works perfectly, the whole way through Clarke balances an idyllic location and happy occasion with darker undertones, it all felt intoxicating and only added to the sense of unease and danger.

The characters are strong as well. We get to read chapters from all of their perspectives which enables us to gain a better understanding of them. Clarke fleshes them out well and despite them all holding secrets, I still thought I got to know them well. All of the characters play a key part in the plot and I really enjoyed getting to know them and their secrets.

'One of the Girls' is a thrilling read set on a beautiful island. There are plenty of secrets in this that are just waiting to be uncovered.

A Greek island and six hens, all somehow linked beyond what they know. Then a murder. I give this book 3 and a half stars because I didn't get a real sense of place and by the end I didn't really care either way about Ed because his relationship with the women wasn't shown and I wasn't invested enough in the characters. Perhaps because there were six viewpoints. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book.

This is the first Lucy Clarke book I’ve read and to be honest I was a bit dubious before I began reading. Six girls having a hen party on a Greek island? What on earth could go wrong? Oh my goodness, it was brilliant! The mystery and intrigue was gripping and totally believable, and I felt for each and every character. It’s as if I was there with them, and the descriptive writing brought back memories of wonderful holidays in Greece. The story was different and unusual and I was totally absorbed. Even though very early on I successfully predicted some of what had happened in the past, it didn’t spoil the story because there was so much more unravelling to be done. The ending was fabulous and unexpected and I loved the whole thing. I started reading it yesterday, finished it today, and have already bought The Castaways! Isn’t it lovely when you discover a new favourite author?!

This is the third book that I've read by Lucy Clarke and whilst it wasn't quite as good as The Castaways, which was a 5 star read for me, this was still a great read.
I will say, even though I enjoyed each chapter being told from a different perspective and the amount of detail and character building that we get in the beginning, it takes until at least the halfway point for things to really get going.
Secrets and drama are hinted at before then but it really comes into its own from about halfway through.
And that's why I could only give this 4 stars as it does take quite a while for things to get going.
Fen's secret and storyline wasn't as strong as I would have liked and even though Lexi is the bride, she was probably the least interesting character for me.
I really enjoyed all of the reveals and how everything and everyone ended up connected as the story came to a conclusion.
The climax was great and I liked how it was all tied up at the end.
Lucy Clarke is also brilliant at creating characters that feel completely real, which is why I felt myself so wrapped up in this.
If you're a fan of Lucy Foley's books, I've got a feeling that you will enjoy One of the Girls as well.

This book was absolutely incredible! It was the perfect recipe for a brilliant book - an exotic location so well-described I could almost imagine I was there, a cast of believable, interesting, multi-faceted characters and a fantastic plot with just the right amount of twists and turns.

I adored reading about the dynamics between the group of women on the hen weekend. I loved how secrets were revealed throughout the book at (in my opinion) the perfect time to keep propelling the plot forward.

The ending was brilliant too - I love how all storyline were wrapped up in a satisfying way and there were no loose ends.

I can't say enough good things about the book but I also don't want to spoil anything for those yet to read it so all I will say is read this book immediately!

After reading and loving The Castaways, I was delighted to receive a copy of her new one from NetGalley.
Lexi is off on her hen do, a long weekend in Greece with 5 of her closest friends. Every girl on the holiday is hiding something and lots of secrets will be revealed over the few days - loud Bella, there with her girlfriend Fen, who’s family owns the Greek villa; Eleanor, who will become Lexi’s new sister in law; Ana, Lexi’s newest friend and Robyn, who alongside Bella is Lexi’s oldest friend.
The story is cleverly crafted, with secrets and lies slowly being revealed to the reader and to each of the hens, cumulative in a horrifying conclusion to the hen party….one will not be returning to Britain alive….
Thank you NetGalley- loved this book and would highly recommend.

Immersive Suspense….
A sun soaked Greek island, a hen weekend, six people and way more secrets than anyone will admit to. A plot populated with cast of wholly credible characters, an equally credible and compelling narrative and twists aplenty make this a one sit, immersive suspense with a fabulous backdrop. Bravo!

After only recently discovering Lucy Clarke's work with #TheCastaways, I could not wait to read #OneOfTheGirls and it did not disappoint. #TheCastaways is one of my books of the year and I actually loved #OneOfTheGirls even more! I don't say this lightly but... It is the PERFECT psychological thriller.

It is fast-paced and twisty in all the right places, and balances that with amazing character development throughout. With six narrators it could have been difficult to add weight to each individual, but as a reader you finish the book having got to know all six really well. When reading, I was torn between desperately wanting to join the group on the hen weekend in Greece (Lucy paints it as an idyllic slice of heaven!), and being extremely glad that I wasn't mixed up in all the chaos!

I cannot wait to see how big this book will be upon its release in April next year, Lucy Clarke is an amazing writer and has become one of few whose books I put straight to the top of my TBR pile!

Thank you so much #Netgalley & Harper Fiction for my early read.

This is a very clever book with multiple twists at the end which I simply did not see coming.

Lexi is being taken to a greek island with her friends for her hen party - Robyn and Bella are lifelong school friends - each has their own past. Bella - confirmed party girl - loud one of the group. Robyn, single mum of a young son whose husband left her after having an affair. Fen - Bellas girlfriend and her aunt owns the villa. Ana - Lexi's new friend whom she met at yoga and Eleanor - the groom's sister.
Each of the chapters begins from one of the women's perspectives, each drip-feeding into the bigger picture of the story.
As the story unravels, it's clear that there has been an accident on the last night of the hen weekend, but who was taken away in the ambulance. Without giving any of the plot away - it is not who you think!

Very clever writing which leaves the reader constantly guessing what is happening.

I enjoyed this psychological thriller by author Lucy Clarke that continued to twist and turn throughout. I have read other books by the author but consider this one the best yet.

The story is set on a Greek island where a group of women are attending a weekend bachelorette party. What starts as a dream weekend celebration ultimately ends up with a death. Throughout the book the tension builds as we learn about the six women and their stories as Lexi’s forthcoming marriage is celebrated. All the women are different but they all have the common link that they all carry secrets.

Throughout the book we learn more about each character, their hidden secrets, varying personalities and relationships. It all builds up to a thrilling climax that will keep you guessing.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Harper Collins UK for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Lucy Clarke is awesome.
Six very different women travel to a sun-soaked Greek island for a bachelorette trip, to celebrate Lexi’s upcoming wedding. From the glorious ocean views to the quaint tavernas and whitewashed streets, the vacation seems too good to be true. But dangerous undercurrents run beneath the sunset swims and midnight cocktails – because each of the women is hiding a secret. Someone is determined to make sure that Lexi’s marriage never happens – and that one of them doesn’t leave the island alive.
Lucy Clarke has proved again that she is the queen of thrillers.
I raced through this book and finsihed it in a day. Loved it.
