The northern lights- such a romantic, seasonal setting and certainly this story did not disappoint. The setting is glorious. There plenty of humorous episodes whilst Lucy makes her escape to Finland, away she hopes from a scandal back in Britain. Lucy has made some mistakes so she seems like a likeable but fallible character. Totally unprepared for the conditions she will find in The Wild Zone, she has to totally readjust her expectations and dig deep. I loved the descriptions of local life and the survival techniques which Lucy has to learn fast. With new friendships and the promise of romance, it makes for a heart-warming winter read.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollinsUK, One More Chapter for a copy of "Meet Me Under The Northern Lights" in exchange for my honest review.

This book is a wonderful winter/Christmas read, light-hearted and fun. Ms. Kerr paints a perfect picture of a wintery, snowy Finland. It makes you feel as if you are there in the story with the characters.

I hadn't read from this author before but definitely will look out for her in the future. This was a great light hearted read and perfect for Christmas. It was a very easy read and one I enjoyed every moment of.

Loved the premise of this book but unfortunately just could not get into it. The characters seemed far too fake, the storylines were quite far fetched and it was overall quite boring

This was absolutely not the book I was expecting, and tackled some very real storylines not usually found in a cozy romance. It's a great read that will keep you hooked. I can't wait to read more from Kerr.

4/5 Stars

Thanks to @onemorechapterhc for sending me an advance copy of Meet Me Under the Northern Lights for review! This book came out on December 3rd.

In the wake of a viral video, morning radio host Lucy experiences cyber bullying unlike anything in her career and flees to the Arctic Circle to get some space. What she finds is a LOT of snow, a blunt business owner, and more time with her thoughts than she bargained for. I wanted to shake Lucy as often as I wanted to hug her, and while there are certainly funny moments: Lucy getting thrown from the dogsled — there are many more heart wrenching ones: Tommi talking to Lucy about her alcohol use.

This story is focused on Lucy’s journey, with a dash of romance thrown in. It’s about her finding her confidence again, processing her grief, and figuring out how to move forward.

If I hadn’t already wanted to visit Finland, this would have sealed it! I loved the author’s note about getting to travel during the pandemic through the writing of this book.

Meet Me Under the Northern Lights fills the Natalie Normann gap I felt without a new Nordic romance from her this year. I also kept thinking about The Ex-Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon — if you enjoyed that book, you should definitely pick this up.

This isn’t a Christmas romance, which I love, because it’s perfect the season and for so many readers who may or may not celebrate Christmas!

Lucy and I share a love of music, so I created a Meet Me Under the Northern Lights inspired playlist with all the sweet, sad, wintery vibes. 🤍 I hope you enjoy!

CW: grief, death of a parent, cyberbullying, workplace harassment, alcoholism

This book just wasn't for me. The plot was a little too ridiculous, the characters were boring and their reactions to things didn't make any sense.

So, to start off with a star rating, I am giving this book 3.5 stars.
I did enjoy this book from start to finish, however, I found it a little slow and found myself putting it down every few pages and then I put it down for a few weeks. I like the plot of the story and I enjoyed getting to know Finland a bit – I would love to go and experience some of what Lucy does in the book! I liked all the characters; they were all likeable. The not so likeable characters I liked for their villainy.

I found myself liking Lucy more as the book progressed, as I found her a little annoying at the start, however once the plot really started going, I did end up liking her. The slow burn romance was a nice touch especially as it was not the main part of the book.

The plot was a little slow at times, and I found myself with 15% left and not much resolved from the start, however I liked the plot twist how the people come back into the setting and make Lucy face them. I liked how it ended, the fact that Lucy chose what she might not have prior to going to Finland and it was a nice ending as I really thought she would choose to try and get her life back to how it was.

Overall, this book is a really nice book to read during the winter or Christmas time and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to cosy up with a book set during the winter months!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it took no time at all I was so engrossed. I particularly liked the descriptions of the snow in Finland and how dangerous and difficult it is to live there in the winter. A great read if you want a bit of escapism.

I tried really hard to get into this one but just couldn't gel with the story or the characters sadly.

I've seen a lot of great reviews about it so don't let me not being able to read it stop you from trying this one!

Lucy is at a tough point in her life and is suspended from her radio job. Skye supports her to go work at Wild Zone in Finland. After a turbulent start, she soon gets stuck into her new life.

Whilst there Lucy faces up to her past and begins to make changes to her life. A whole new future opens up for her.

Perfect read to cosy up to during this winter.

Lucy Fairweather is a successful radio presenter but she has run away from problems her entire life and used alcohol to get her through difficult times.
When a video of her supposedly drunkenly coming onto a fellow presenter goes viral, and threats start to fall through her letterbox - her friend Skye suggests that she goes away for a time to let the dust settle. It so happens that Skye's brother in law, Tommi has started a new business called Wild Zone in Finland and could do with some help.
Lucy blindly agrees and realises too late of the wilderness and freezing conditions she has agreed to hide out in, but she very quickly ends up in Tommi's bad books and is worried he will make her leave. She sets out to show him how helpful she can be and starts to turn her life around - until two of her old work colleagues turn up at the site.

The Finland setting sounds beautiful and is the perfect spot for Lucy to work out who she is and what she really wants from life.

This was a great story. I loved the romance, but even more than that, I really enjoyed watching Lucy grow as a person. She started off a little flakey and not so Loveable but ended the novel as a character I was really fond of!

Unfortunately this didn't spark a lot in me. I thought the idea for the storyline was strong but it did feel a little over done and much longer than it needed to be. Sadly not the book for me.

Lucy Fairweather is a successful Radio DJ with a problem; she enjoys a night out with alcohol too much, and the boss has noticed! When an edited video of her goes viral Lucy runs away, as far as possible to the wilds of Finland.. Here she finds not only the Northern Lights, but love and a new outlook on life.
Initially I found Lucy to be a flighty character who had little regard for others. As the novel progressed so Lucy matured and grew into a loveable character..
An interesting read.

When a video of a radio host goes viral, Lucy needs to escape. What better place then the Artic. Wild Zone owned by brooding Tommi offers the opportunity for Lucy to reflect over the past few years.
A warm, romantic story, perfect for a winter read. The landscape descriptions were captured perfectly and it really felt you were there.
Lucy is a lot stronger then she realises and the secondary characters help her on her journey too. Lucy’s journey of self-discovery and healing take place amid the forest and frozen terrain of Finland.
A well researched book and I like how the book displayed the countries wonders as well as it’s dangers.

I’ve read quite a few festive books this year and this has be one of my favourites! The main character is very human - flawed and likeable - her fall from grace and self imposed exile against the most beautiful backdrop was such a warm, comforting read. I loved her journey - literally and metaphorically- as she discovered herself and what really matters. Highly recommended.

Lucy is a bubbly, vivacious radio presenter. Always at the centre of any party but her lifestyle is starting to impact her work. When a video purporting to show her in a clinch with a fellow presenter goes viral and she is suspended from work she knows her life has to change. She accepts the offer to spend some time in Finland at a remote wilderness resort in order to escape her current life, little knowing that the experience is about to change her whole world.

A rather endearing book full of romance and evoking the beauty of Finland this is a perfect winter read.

I get very excited to find books set in far off exotic locations. The Northern Lights are something that I would love to see in person one day, so I was very excited to dive into this story. Unfortunately, this book did not do what I had hoped. It was so nice to feel transported to Finland through the writing. But I didn't care for the characters at all...and that made it really had to get into the story. It was a slow moving story and I wanted so much more from this book. I hope that others really enjoy the story because I think it had so much amazing potential, however, this was not the book for me.

If you're looking for something with a good winter vibe, this may be the book for you. An escape to Finland gives you the snow scenes every winter read needs, without being a book centralized around a holiday. It's also has the perfect amount of romance for those that aren't looking for a sappy or over the top romance novel. In fact, I would argue that NetGalley's classification of this being a Romance novel isn't quite accurate.
