Meet Me Under the Northern Lights is a cozy rom com. The characters are interesting and diverse. The writing and pacing also flows nicely sprinkled with some humor and romance. I was glad to see the author approach issues of mental health and addiction. Including touches of the Finnish culture and traditions was also a nice addition. Overall, the book was a fun winter read with a romance to make you feel warm and cozy inside.

Lucy Fairweather is flying high - presenting the sought after breakfast show on a well known Radio Station. But after one too many shifts with a hangover, Lucy's position is precarious. And then a video goes viral and it looks like Lucy has been playing around with her colleague, whose girlfriend milks the situation for her own publicity. We see the effects of a viral video on the victim and the abuse and death threats that follow. Her friend Skye and her partner Henri help her out and Lucy finds herself at the Arctic Circle working for Henri's brother running his outdoor centre. This is so far removed from Lucy's comfort zone and there are a lot of amusing mishaps until she finds her feet (literally). When her old life threatens to intrude the results could go either way. I enjoyed this one. It was exactly the kind of escape I needed around the holidays. I thought this book was well written with good character growth, especially for Lucy. The descriptions were good.! I thought it was a good mix of light-hearted and seriousness. The romance was definitely a slow-burn. It was a cute, fun read. Not your usual Tom com book I thought it would be follows a young radio presenter Lucy who after going viral on social media when very drunk is let go on leave and ends up not turning to alcohol as I thought but going to Finland

Lovely beautifully descriptive book makes me want to go there for a week or two

A lovely christmassy read with snowy location and a great heartwarming story. I loved the characters of Lucy and Tommi and their slow burn romance. Definitely a book to curl up to with a hot chocolate and get you in the mood for Christmas

Radio host Lucy has to escape from media attention after a damming video is released on the Internet. She goes to a Finland, to a new camp intended for those who want a break to get away from it all where she agrees to help in return for her stay. The camp is owned and run by Tommi, with whom she has a very mixed relationship.
I actually received and advance copy of this book from the publisher, however to my embarrassment I managed to not read it until after the publication date. Big mistake, I really enjoyed this book for both the dark and light parts. The author has managed to describe the dark feelings that Lucy has, complete with panic attacks, that anyone who has experienced these will recognise. Balanced against this age the wonderful descriptions of the Finnish landscape which makes me really want to visit one day - although I would definitely take my thermals with me. Overall a book that I can highly recommend, and not just for Christmas.

Oh how excellent. Lucy flees to the arctic circle to hide out at a camp and lick her wounds after viral bullying causes her to be put on enforced leave. She leaves her radio presenter role behind to try and heal anonymously in the snow and ice with the huskies and local radio. The betrayal of her job loss follows her and we go through her anguish and problems with alcohol as she falls for Tommi. Some lovely scenes of the lonely landscape are pictured along with the lifestyle needed to survive the cold.

Life goes very wrong for a radio presenter when a video goes viral and she is threatened. Suspended from work, her best friend gets her to an outdoor winter area in Finland. Things take a long time to come together and then fate takes a turn for the worse. I won't tell you any more as I recommend that you read and enjoy this book, I didn't want to put it down. 5 stars.

This is a lovely wintry, romantic book. Perfect for snuggling up with.
I loved all the landscape descriptions and think it really captures lapland and the Finnish so well you really are transported there on your own little magical journey.

Lucy's horrible experience with viral trolls was well written, and really sums up how these situations can turn so nasty so quickly, without actually stopping to think that there are real people and real lives being destroyed.

I also think the issues faced in the book including lose and alcoholism were gentle and appropriately addressed.

Overall I really loved this book and will be going to look for Emily's debut book, duvet day now.

This was a brilliant lighthearted sometimes funny read. This was Charming and Uplifting. I laugh-out-loud in some places. What a roller coaster. I liked Lucy and Skye they were my favourite. Mike i didn't really like. I wasn’t sure about Jonno. 5*.

This book is not so much romance as women's fiction with a secondary romance plot. (I'd call it chick lit, but chick lit is generally funny, and this book is not.) The story is primarily focused on Lucy and her complicated life choices. There's a LOT of drama in this book. Which I would tolerate better if there were lots of happy feels to offset it. But there's not, because this is not a romance.

This wasn't a bad book, it just wasn't one that I found particular excitement about. I enjoyed the scenery and the writing flowed well. It's difficult to pin down exactly what went wrong to cause it go down to 3 stars, other than to say it just didn't capture my attention. It took me a long time to get into it, I didn't feel much of a connection to the heroine at all, and the romance was very predictable. While I don't typically mind predictable romance - that's part of why I read romance, the predictability of a HEA - it felt cliche at times. Overall it just isn't a book I would recommend, particularly during the holidays when people want to dive into a holiday escape book. This wasn't a book you could immerse yourself in. It was very surface level enjoyment.

And as others mentioned, the heroine was not great. She wasn't likeable, especially in the beginning where she took very little accountability for her actions. Hard to get behind someone like that.

I was first drawn to this book by its cover, which had such beautiful colours, just like the Northern Lights! We get to meet Radio Presenter, Lucy Fairweather Lucy’s such a fun character, but she does like to have a drink! This unfortunately leads to her suspension from the radio station and to escape the unwanted publicity she heads to the ‘Wild Zone’, an Arctic Circle experience in Finland. What better place to hide away from her problems, but it’s completely unlike anywhere she’s ever been!

I loved the location, even though it made me feel freezing just by reading about it! It sounded amazing however and as it’s probably the nearest I’ll ever get to Finland, it was wonderful to be experiencing it. I liked Lucy’s character, even though she really didn’t help herself a lot of the time with the things she did. I did feel a bit aggrieved on her behalf though for the situation she finds herself in, but loved how her time in Finland completely changed the person she was.

It is a cute romantic read, with a lovely ‘will-they, won’t-they’ storyline. The supporting characters are, in the whole, likeable (apart from the obvious ones), and I loved Rudi and Johanna’s characters. The boss, Tommi, took a bit longer to like, but unlike the cold Arctic snow, his icy exterior began to thaw as the book moved on!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The location and experiences were amazing (I loved the huskies!), the characters were likeable and interesting and the storyline held my attention through to the last page. It’s the perfect winter read, which I would recommend!

This was a cute wintery romance with a slightly too self-absorbed female lead. Radio host Lucy Fairweather is shipped off to Finland‘s North by her best friends after she is suspended from her job and made into a recognizable villain curtesy of a doctored viral video. Bit by bit the far north and its inhabitants grow on Lucy and give her space to grow and mature a bit as well ! Great descriptions of nature and survival experiences in Northern Finland !

I loved the setting of this book, I've always wanted to see the Northen Lights.
This book is very current with cyber bullying and how easy and quickly it happens, and how it is difficult to stop once it happens. I didn't like the character of Lucy initially, but she didn't deserve to be treated as badly as she was.
This was an enjoyable read and was very descriptive.

After being subjected to nasty cyber bullying, Lucy escapes to the stunning outdoor retreat, Wild Zone near the Arctic Circle. Whilst it took me a while to take to Lucy and to get into the story, there's a host of characters including some beautiful husky dogs to whisk you away to this winter wonderland. The writer deals sensitively with some serious issues. A journey of self discovery, which was an enjoyable winter read.
