I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

I gave it 4 stars on GR so I must have loved it. I do remember thinking that she reminded me a bit of Lynn Painter's books if that's helpful.

Absolutely loved this enemies to lovers book! The build up between the rivalry of Victoria and Owen and the building friendship / romance between Nora and Luke is fabulous. I felt so on edge and was whizzing through the pages when they kept trying to meet up with all the downfalls but the romance was sizzling!
Definitely recommend to friends and thank you for the opportunity to read this book early

Wow what a gem this is! My first read by this author and definitely won’t be the last. I need more.
This is one I’ve devoured in just one sitting. I have adored it!

I couldn't put this book down and if I didn't have work I'd have finished it in one sitting. I found myself gripped with the relationship between Victoria and Owen.

They are both lawyers who are on different sides of the same cases, and of course they see each other as mortal enemies... When they have more in common than they first know.

Nora and Luke are best friends through the anonymity of the internet, Nora hides behind her twitter profile. They both only know so much about each other.

It's fun to watch Victoria and Owen fall in love and see their conflicting feelings about Luke and Nora at the same time because they don't know they are actually talking to each other.

My only gripe with this book is that Owen worked it out and then didn't want to disappoint Victoria with the truth that he was Luke. And the only reason Victoria wanted to meet Luke was because she's fallen out with Owen?
Every opportunity he had to tell her it felt like Victoria didn't allow him to talk about the Nora/Luke thing.
I think they are equally in the wrong with how they handled the situation. The fact he had to grovel with a big gesture to win her back is dumb because she was equally at fault? They both lied (she is almost blinded to her own bad choices lol) I know something had to go wrong to make them realise they loved eachother but🙄.

I still enjoyed myself and I'm glad I read it. A solid 4 star read. It was So close to being a 5. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for granting this book to me as a wish🥰✨

Sweet enemies to lovers book. This was a quick office romance read. I enjoyed reading this one.

3 stars for me

This was a fantastic workplace enemies romance, that gave off many You've Got Mail vibes. The characters were strong headed and very likeable. I really enjoyed this one.

As much as this is a good romance set up, I didn't like the characters enough to be invested in the plot.

Workplace enemies Victoria and Owen have had it out for each other since the first case they worked on opposite sides of the court. After a one-night stand, they cannot ignore the chemistry that ties them together. The only thing holding them back is that they each have a penpal on Twitter, Nora and Luke. When one too many coincidences finally add up, will they put the puzzle pieces together or will this be the end of this spirited duo?

This is one of my favourite romcoms I’ve ever read. I love how feisty the main characters are, even if the inciting incident doesn’t necessarily seem that dramatic and divisive, in my opinion. They were really interesting, well-fleshed out characters I could see, relate to and empathise with. I liked that they each had their outward personalities that they projected to those around them which clashed with their true selves and internal thoughts, but rounded them out so much better. In that sense, Victoria and Owen were very much their outward presentations and Nora and Luke were their internal selves.

I loved the premise, of them both being competing lawyers, not at different firms, but for different causes, which added a moral conflict as well. It had a satisfying conflict all throughout, with the two main characters butting heads constantly, their internal conflicts and then the conflicts brought on by the plot itself. I thought it had a really successful 3 act plot and the resolution was really satisfying. I really wish there was a sequel to this just so I could keep reading!

I really enjoyed this book, I genuinely would recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of enemies-to-lovers, an office romance, or anyone who loves 90s romcoms. This has big You’ve Got Mail energy and I am here for it! Will definitely be picking up a copy next time I’m at a bookstore and recommending it to all my friends.

This has been marketed as something similar to You've Got Mail, which is one of my favourite films of all time. Thankfully, it delivered. This time the couple are lawyers rather than booksellers so some of the magic for me was taken away.

I'm never a miscommunication fan, so was a bit apprehensive when this came up. But it was done well here.

Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for sending me and ARC in exchange for an honest review. I tried this book a couple of times and honestly couldn’t get into the plot. The writing was well done, the story just wasn’t catching my attention. I think I had a difficult time connecting to the characters in the story. It just wasn’t the book for me.

Thanks Again!

Overall I enjoyed this one. I’m a sucker for enemies to lovers and, unlike some contemporary romances, their dislike of each other was actually fairly believable! This also leads to some pretty intense sexual tension and chemistry between Victoria and Owen.

I also really liked both of them. Victoria is driven, determined, and a bit of an ice queen, to be honest! On the other hand, Owen was caring and definitely more open with his emotions so it was nice to see the effect he had on Victoria.

This book does feature the miscommunication trope which I know a lot of other readers don’t like but I actually didn’t mind it, it served a purpose.

Overall, it was enjoyable!

For somebody who loves You've Got Mail, I expected to like this book so much more than I did. I didn't particularly warm to Victoria or Owen. Luke was the only character I really liked. I found Victoria very bitter and couldn't really warm to her. I did however appreciate the mention that While You Were Sleeping got. A film that doesn't get the recognition if deserves. Overall, I was just a bit disappointed.

I really wanted to enjoy this one as on paper it ticks all the boxes I look for in a rom-com however I just couldn't get invested in the story or with the characters.

I'm gutted but it happens.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review

I Love You, I Hate You is an enemies/rivals to lovers romance by Elizabeth Davis.

Victoria and Owen are bitter rivals in the legal world, but great friends in Twitter DMs where they’re both anonymous- known as Nora and Luke. I loved that it was a You’ve Got Mail retelling and as ever I enjoyed the epistolary element- in fact I would’ve loved even more of that!

I enjoyed the story itself and I thought it actually was quite funny, which isn’t always the case with rom-coms. It was also well-paced which meant we could see their relationship and chemistry grow.

For me, though, I just wish the miscommunication had been resolved sooner as there were clear points when it could have been. Although I understood why the reveal didn’t happen sooner, I found that aspect a little frustrating.

Many thanks to Headline Eternal for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun read!

With characters having misunderstandings and can’t stand each other but unknown to them communicate online as friends. This was such a fun and entertaining concept. The way their interactions in real life differ from the interactions with their online personas.

The romance was sweet with a wonderful chemistry that just grows and grows. The pacing was really good and kept me invested in the characters lives. It was very easy to smile at their interactions. There’s a little bit of everything in this book from some steamy moments to romance and an overall fun feeling!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley .

Elizabeth Davis spoils lovers of You've got Mail with what is essentially a modern day retelling of the story. Instead of exchanging emails, Owen and Victoria are strangers exchanging Twitter DM's. Rather than arguing in bookstores, they're doing it in courtrooms.

A good old love/hate enemies to lovers trope which is honestly my bread and butter at this stage so how could I resist this one!
I loved the fact they were both lawyers and the aspect of Victoria's online friendships. As a lawyer who has been stuck at home during a global pandemic for the better part of 2 years, the only way I can keep up with my friends is online so it was veryyyyy relatable 😂 I also loved the banter between the two characters.

I will say though, I'm not a big fan of the miscommunication trope and I feel a lot of the book revolved around this which made it hard to read for me. Why can't people just talk about their thoughts and feelings?!!

In summary it was pretty much pretty okay for me which is why I gave 3 stars - not overly bad but not overly spectacular. It offered exactly what it said it would, so an solid middle rating overall.

*climbs to top of hill*

*plants flag*

Sheesh *gulps air*, metaphorical hill or not, I am not fit for this – at all!

What was that?

Why *points down* am I standing on top of a hill?

Well, after finishing ILYIHY I said three things… *counts off fingers*

• It was fantabulous
• Emotional
• And spicy af

So, in typical Laura-esque Drama Queen form, I decided this is the hill upon which I shall die because I dare you to come at me and disagree… *snorts* Just kidding… not!

Sparks and pheromones fly (in and out of the courtroom) in this tale which gave me all the You’ve Got Mail vibes – 21st Century style!

Owen and Victoria have rubbing each other up the wrong way down to a fine art. *whispers* Understatement of the century! What is it I always say? Never assume anything because it only makes a… ahem, well, you know the rest. And these two have assumptions up the wazoo when it comes to their opinions of each other *rolls eyes*. Yet, all that friction is only going to head one way *snorts* – fireworks (of the *whistle-winks* variety)!

I think it’s fair to say that between them their issues have issues, and both have hearts locked up tighter than Fort Knox. Yet, as their online personas leak into real life, will they take a chance by doing the one thing they fear most… opening up?

Enemies to lovers is one of my catnip tropes; add in Star Wars references and it’s safe to say I’m a goner. Full of heartfelt moments, witty banter, explosive chemistry and the sassiest five-year-old you’ll ever meet, ILYIHY is one of the best romcoms I have read this year (that’s another flag planted!).

Life is full of ‘Moments’… choose wisely!

Victoria and Owen are enemies in the court room, but online they are Nora and Luke, with a steady friendship. I did not really like Victoria but I can admire her grit and determination to make it as a litigator and not letting her difficult upbringing keep her from fulfilling her goals. She detests Owen as he comes from a rich family, but there is a definite spark between them. There was a bit of a silly argument near the end, but the conclusion was very satisfying. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
