I'm fascinated by Irish mythology and appreciated this retelling of the CuchulainnRecommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine myth.
It's an easy read that can help children to approach these complex legends.
Well written and entertaining.

A rewarding read for young readers, the only possible flaw in this telling of how the young lad Setanta got the nickname the Hound of Ulster is that it never once (in my file at least) acknowledges that that is what it's doing. It kind of kills a little of its heritage like that, but it still is an interesting origin story, with the young lad adamant he will be one of the King's guardsmen, and training with his hurley stick until he can prove himself against his rivals – not knowing there will be a darker challenge on the way. It is a reprint, and 2021's brand new illustrations look a little cheesy at times, with over-expressive faces, but I'm certainly glad I saw it, and if it had pointed the way to finding the full legends elsewhere I would have been really most grateful for its existence. It's not quite as essential as a result, but it's still well worth a look.
