I'm always concerned when I read blurbs that suggest "for fans of Jenny Colgan and Trisha Ashley" (or any other authors). What if I'm not a fan or haven't read anything by them? And if I am a fan, does this mean the novel is at best an imitation of another well known writer's work?
Certainly this isn't true of Kiley Dunbar's novels. Her stories are romantic, with original plots and settings and a heartwarming mix of comedy & pathos. Before you're more than a few pages in you're absorbed in the world she creates and the problems that beset her heroines.
Matchmaking always has its dangers... and rest assured there will be complications at Port Willow. Will it all turn out for the best? Snuggle up in a comfy chair for another Kiley Dunbar dose of romantic escapism to find out.

Another lovely story from this author.
What I love is how she sets the scene and describes things so well, you feel like you are right there.
The characters are all well developed throughout the story that again you feel like you know them all and you really route for all of them to have the ending they deserve. I hope there is a follow up to this story as I would love to catch up with all the characters again..

brief mention of miscarriage

Matchmaking at Port Willow by Kiley Dunbar is the second book in the Port Willow Bay series and follows 3 couples.
We get to see Beatrice and Atholl's relationship develope and oh my god they were so sweet to each other!! i loved them! And seeing Beatrice overcome her struggles with her miscarriage and children was so heartwarming! and i was sp nervous throughout, i really didn't know where her storyline was going but it ended up being good, thank god!

Nina's character was really different and unique from others shown in the book, she was distand and constantly put up walls around her (i mean i get why I HATED LUKE AND HOW HE TREATED HER) and seeing Mutt slowly remove those walls made me so happy. Not to mention, Nina's character development was IMMACULATE. she finally stood up for herself in the end and I loved her.
Now Mutt and Nina's relationship was so great, plus they had great chemistry and i was always on the edge of my seat reading them!

It's a good thing Beatrice continued to meddle with other people's relationship and play matchmaker because it was the best part of the story for me lol.

All the other characters were still the same, lovable, funny bunch and I'm kinda hoping we get another novella !!

In Matchmaking at Port Willow Kiley Dunbar takes us back to the magical setting of Port Willow, the Scottish Highland village where Beatrice mended her broken heart and found a new wonderful life alongside Atholl. Now she’s running The Princess and the Pea Inn and has set herself to give others the same happy ending she got.

Although second book in the series it can be read perfectly as a stand alone as the main plot is about two new characters and enough background information about the returning ones is given.

Nina’s life in NYC turned upside down in a matter of minutes (and at Christmas time, at that!) and now she finds herself in Port Willow on an unwanted work assignment trying to regain her boss’ trust. But, is that really what she wants? It took me a while to warm up to her. I didn’t like how she was so set up in her ways and her ideas at first, belittling some of the people of Port Willow when it was clear they were a thousand times better than the people she left behind in NYC. As the story progressed she became much more sympathetic and I really liked her relationship with Mutt.

It was a joy seeing how well life was treating Beatrice, Atholl and all the lovely people of Port Willow. One thing I love in this series is the sense of community and how everyone will help each other no matter what.

Bea’s “meddling” will have another chance to shine with an older couple who may have lost their spark after a long marriage and, although there were some moments of complete lack of communication and assuming things (hate that!), at the end it turned out a great side plot.

It was a pleasure to return to Port Willow and its inhabitants, and I enjoyed this second visit even more. Hopefully there will be a third.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love the location of Port Willow in Scotland and it is great to be back there catching up with the people from the first book. This is another lovely heartwarming book that draws you in from the beginning and makes you wish that you lived there with all of the lovely quirky characters. Perfect book to curl up in front of the fire with

This is another adorable book by Kiley Dunbar! Charming setting. Lovable characters. This book is like being wrapped up in a big, warm, hug from the first page to the last.

Beatrice is running the Princess and the Pea Inn in the beautiful Scottish highlands. She is madly in love with her boyfriend Atholl, and wants everyone around her to be as happy. So she starts matchmaking guests who are staying at the Inn.

This novel deals beautifully with some sensitive topics. I was happy to return to Port Willow however I do suggest you read the first in the series to get a complete understanding of the characters involved.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I absolutely love the setting in the Scottish Highlands and enjoyed reading about the Scottish customs and features. I love Scotland and haven't been able to visit for a long time. It was lovely to be able to escape there via the pages of this book.
This is a lovely cosy festive read, perfect for reading on a cold day. Port Willow is a lovely location and it would be wonderful if there were more books in this location. Fabulous!

I loved the highland village setting. To me you don't get that setting enough in contemporary novels. Which is shame because it really is the perfect setting.

Lovely to be back in Port Willow and reading another Kiley Dunbar book! Although the second book set in this location, I believe you get enough back story to read this as a standalone (although I highly recommend catching up on the previous book as it’s great!)
I loved the small village of Port Willow and its quirky inhabitants, they are such an interesting bunch. I also loved the new visitors and guests, I soon warmed to most of them. Beatrice and Atholl are all loved up and it’s nice that their story continues as well as the story of visitor Nina.
Nina is not the easiest character to like at first, she is ambitious, driven and thinks she is above everyone and everything in Port Willow. She has been involved with someone at work, and they’ve clearly given her the push. Although she has the support of those in Port Willow she is determined to keep pushing them away.
Events throughout this story will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Brilliantly written, with characters you will love. I hope there will be another trip to Port Willow in the future.

CW: mention of past miscarriage

A few days before Christmas, which she expects to spend quietly with her boyfriend, an executive at the company she works at, Nina finds herself dumped, demoted, and sent on a scouting trip to the Scottish Highlands. At the Princess and the Pea Inn, she meets Mutt, a disgruntled handyman, and they dislike each other at first sight. In parallel, there is Beatrice and her boyfriend Atholl, who found love in the previous book in the series, and the older married couple whose romance Beatrice is hoping to rekindle.

▪ Scottish Highlands Setting. If it were up to me, all romance novels would be set in the Highlands. There is something about the weather, the topography, and the flora that makes it perfect: it provides plenty of naturally occurring obstacles (snow, fog, various farm animals) and breathtaking beauty.
▪ This book begins like a Hallmark Christmas movie. I mean that in the best possible way. I love those movies, no matter how predictable they are. So it charmed me right from the start. However, things depart from that format, most notably with the three parallel romances happening at once. I admit I was much more interested in Nina (and Mutt) than in the other couples, even though the other two romances grew on me towards the end.
▪ Small town, quirky people. This is another of my favourite romance tropes: quirky supporting characters. Port Willow has a few eccentrics, but everyone is kind and generous, and they make you want to move there like Beatrice did. I would definitely read more books in this series to spend time with these characters again.

In conclusion, this is a lovely, cosy book that will make you feel (there is a bit of grief mixed in with the joy) and dream of moving to a small coastal town in Scotland.

Beatrice has always given the Princess and The Pea Inn her all, working tirelessly at a job she loves, and working alongside the man she loves certainly helps make her work day more enjoyable too.

On the build up to Christmas Beatrice and Atholl are going about their regular business, preparing for the festivities ahead, however an even bigger surprise arrives for the couple as they discover they are expecting a baby.

Despite the overwhelming happiness, Beatrice definitely seems to feel the weight of her forthcoming life change weighing on her so she is even more grateful when a married couple who are looking to rekindle their love for one another arrives at the Inn. Beatrice seizes this opportunity to embrace her somewhat meddling ways and makes it her own personal mission to help this couple in any way she can, something that doesn’t always run smoothly that’s for sure!.

The thing I love most about picking up a book by Kiley Dunbar is, before I have even turned the first page I know I am in for an incredible adventure alongside the characters within her story. Beatrice is a strong willed character who secures a place in your heart instantly. She always goes above and beyond to help others, even though sometimes her meddling can go a little bit too far – it always comes from her heart.

The storyline is original and has several different life stories intertwined throughout, making each of the characters more realistic and relatable at times too. This story was an absolute joy to read, and if you love a captivating romantic comedy then this is undoubtedly the book for you.

haven’t read the first book in this series, though I really don’t feel like that mattered. The opening of the book ensures that we are transported to the beautiful and unusual setting of Port Willow.

We are then taken away from there to New York City, where we meet Nina. Nina has been dealt a tough hand but she also comes across as someone who has lived a very privileged life and she hides behind a tough exterior. I did find myself warming more to her character by the end of the book.

I loved watching the romance unfold in this one and I found the romance plot very believable and enjoyable. It was also great to meet such a vibrant cast of characters.

Kiley Dunbar has certainly established herself as a must-read author and I have loved how this book has given me all the feels. There is some dramatic twists and turns, moments of joy and fun, and well-developed characters. I hope there will be more to come in this series as I’d definitely like to visit Port Willow again!

What a gorgeous trip back to Port Willow – Kiley never disappoints with her stunning descriptions of the Highlands settings once more, with the most wonderful of returning characters and new additions. In the first book of the series, Kiley gently touches upon miscarriage within Beatrice’s story and did so beautifully. In the second book, the topic is touched upon again in another light, in which second chances are given and we witness how difficult it can be to accept another pregnancy after previously miscarrying and how the trauma can never fully allow you to feel excited for the new life that’s about to begin. Kiley has done a brilliant job with covering this, I honestly have never thought about how much a woman would have to adapt to being pregnant again after the loss of a previous child and it really shed a lot of light on how important this is to pay attention to. The start of a new life, whilst exciting for the people around you, can also be a difficult time for the woman, as it is also a reminder of what could have been. So thank you Kiley, for highlighting this extremely important issue throughout.

I was thrilled to be reunited with Beatrice and Atholl, after seeing their romance blossom the first time round. Beatrice is such a beautiful soul, always on a mission for everybody to feel the love that she now feels with Atholl and she found that within once certain couple who definitely needed some time to rekindle. Beatrice’s story this time was filled with so much happiness and joy, it’s hard to believe what she had previously gone through. I was beaming with excitement over the turn of events for our leading lady and to have the gorgeous Atholl by her side, it was an absolute pleasure to see their stories evolve. Atholl is honestly one of my favourite leading men in a book, with a heart so big, always taking care of others, he is an absolute dream.

Ruth and Mark are two newcomers to Port Willow, after winning a competition hosted by Beatrice herself. The two have begun to lose touch with one another after their last son had recently flew the nest. The changes had left them not knowing what to do with their lives or how to be and this little trip to the Highlands was most certainly the breathe of fresh air they needed in their lives. There was so much miscommunication between the two of them, that it had really started to weigh their marriage down. Lucky for them, Beatrice was having no more of it and was not seeing them leave the Inn until all feelings were resolved. They were a beautiful couple who were just going through a lot in too little of time, it’s much too easy to fall in to bad routines. Like Beatrice’s miscarriage, Kiley touches upon Ruth’s menopause and handled it incredibly, allowing us to experience the frustrations and emotional rollercoasters alongside her, forcing me to want to reach a hand out for her to hold. I was over the moon with the couple’s ending and would love to see them again one day.

My favourite story-line of book two has to go to Nina and Mutt. Both extremely out of sorts with the world, looking for greater things and an escape from their pasts. Nina was a lovely character who had so much worth and so much talent within her that was all being used in all the wrong places and on all the wrong people. Her visit to Port Willow did start off on a rocky foot, dismissing all of the wonderful things it had to offer, however, with the help of the handsome Mutt (Murray), her eyes and mind begun to open to endless possibilities of how wonderful the town was. Their friendship was a joy to watch grow, my favourite scenes especially taking place at the ball, as that is where their friendship starting to take a turn for the better. Being the cousin of Atholl, Mutt of course, had the heart of an angel and his past mistakes proved just how big hearted he was, despite the negative outcomes that may have endured. Nina and Mutt were absolutely destined to meet when they did and destined to be together, with their little furry companion, Bear. I would love to see them again one day also and see where their next adventures take them.

This another great and cosy escapism romance, focused strongly on second chances and a whole lot of love. I can’t wait to see whether or not Kiley has anything more in store for this series, as it is really is a beautiful place to be and everybody who hasn’t yet begun reading these, definitely needs to make a move on changing that!

4.5 Stars

Sweet, heartfelt and absolutely enchanting, it’s impossible not to be completely charmed by Kiley Dunbar’s latest novel, Matchmaking at Port Willow.

Everything has been coming up roses for Beatrice Halliday ever since she had moved to the magical town of Port Willow six months ago. After nursing a broken heart she had thought beyond repair, Beatrice had managed to turn her life around. Now successfully running The Princess and the Pea Inn where she welcomes tourists from all over the world, Beatrice has also met her own Prince Charming who has made her so happy: the gorgeous Atholl Fergusson. Beatrice is on top of the world, until she makes a surprise discovery that threatens the life that has come to mean everything to her!

In desperate need of a distraction, Beatrice decides that the best way to stop herself from dwelling on her problems is by match-making. With an empty-nester couple holidaying at the inn needing to bring the spark back into their relationship, not to mention city girl Nina and Atholl’s handsome Mutt needing a push in the right direction, Beatrice certainly has her hands full in the romance stakes. But will cupid’s arrow strike again in Port Willow? Or is she about to realise that sometimes one should just let the laws of attraction take their course…

Kiley Dunbar’s Matchmaking at Port Willow is a little escapist slice of happiness that will leave readers with a massive smile on their face. Matchmaking at Port Willow is a lovely story that is uplifting, heart-warming and so irresistible, I simply didn’t want to put it down.

It’s such fun to catch up with Beatrice, Atholl and all the latest goings-on at the Princess and the Pea Inn. New character Nina comes across as initially rather prickly, but I soon found myself warming to her and hoping that she would get her happy ending in Port Willow.

Warm, witty and absolutely wonderful, heart-melting contemporary romance does not get any better than Kiley Dunbar’s Matchmaking at Port Willow.
