A real winter read. Enthralling characters and plenty of of twists and turns to keep you racing to the next chapter. Well written as usual and a delight to read. From surf to snow an amazing book.

I can definitely recommend this book. How can you work & live with someone you hate. How do you get them to trust you, when they know how much you hate them. The twists and turns in this book makes think who is the villain of the story. Definitely a love story with a difference. Best to sit down with a nice hot chocolate, turn off your phone as you won't want to be disturbed.

This was such a good book, I was immersed in it by the first few pages; and the story never flagged with highs, lows and drama. As always, an original plot with amazing detail and sympathetic, believable characters. I loved the Austrian setting and Karen is adept at describing weather and using it to heighten atmosphere. But she can also make stylish occasions jump off the page. I am in awe of her descriptive powers bringing both surfing and snowboarding to life. I have read many of her books and this is my favourite. Definitely a cut above others in the genre and a wonderful winter read. Highly recommended.
Thanks to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for an ARC . My opinions are completely my own.

I always get engrossed in Karen Swan books and I am not a fan of winter sports but this book had me riveted from the start.

Clover Phillips roots for the underdog and her role interviewing and exposing a wrong doing makes her seem ruthless, but she gets the story and has become successful with her team, Matty & Johnny.
Her next project is Kit Foley a previous surf champion, disliked by many, turns to snowboarding for his next win.
Set in London, where the team are based, California surrounded by sea, sand and surfing , Austria snow topped mountains at the the start of Kits training and Switzerland where the competition takes place.
Travelling from my armchair, this had emotion, sport, life problems, duplicity and love.
Definitely recommend

This book is a perfect winter read and my first Karen Swan book as well. It was the perfect mix of angst and sweetness and I ate it all up (even though the main female character did frustrate me at times). I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy of this so I can read this again when it’s nice and cold!!

Please can I just say I adore Karen Swan’s book since reading her first one, quite some years ago now. Karen always weaves a wonderful engaging story into the most amazing parts of the world. It’s sucks you into these fabulous places and makes your want to go travelling. This book is no exception. Brilliant characters who had secrets and depth throughout. Beautifully written and also impossible to put down. Thank you for letting me review this book, I absolutely loved it! Definitely add to your to read pile, and then read it quickly!!

Well she has done it again. What can I say apart from Karen Swan you are fabulous and every book that you write ought to have a "Buy this, you won't regret it!" sticker on the front cover.
This latest novel takes us from a tragic death at sea to the exciting world of snowboarding in the Alps. It is glamorous, thrilling and unashamedly romantic. I would detail the plot more but I would hate to spoil any of the delicious twists and turns for you readers. Honestly though just buy it, it is wonderful.

Surprised to read some of the reviews on here, stating disappointment in this book - I loved it. Compelling reading and definitely not your average Christmas themed Love Story. I felt the story had depth, twisting and turning - couldn’t put it down.

I’ve read all of Karen Swan’s books and for me she’s one of the few novelists when asked to pick my favourite I would be hard pressed. Her writing is consistently compelling and absorbing, each man character filled with a full backstory that drives the novel and draws in the reader. This novel doesn’t disappoint and sits beside the others in my dilemma of which is my favourite. The main characters, Kit, a surfer turned snowboarder, and Clover, a documentary filmmaker, each have their own pressures and compulsions that drive them to be the best. And in this case that drive makes it inevitable that they will hate each other when Clover is drawn to make a documentary on Kit whose fall from grace in the surfing world was terrible and devastating. But the chemistry that makes them who they are also draws them together. And it’s the chemistry that Karen Swan builds so well, so beautifully slow burn that it can make you ache for them. The characters’ pain is real and wonderfully and subtly painted so that, yet again, her novel makes you stay up until silly o’clock so that you can finish it, and then feel sorry that you did because there is no more to read.

I devoured this book - it was so good! Clover is a documentary maker and has shown the world the affects of Corey Allbright's surfing accident. Now, she is covering the side of the story with Kit Foley, the man who caused the accident. Corey's nemesis. But Clover begins to realise not every story is simply black and white. A cracking romance with plenty of conflicts. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

With grateful thanks to netgalley for an early copy in return for an honest opinion.
Having read quite a few of this authors books I was delighted to get an early copy.
This was for me rather a mixed book in the sense that we start the book in the middle of the story something I'm not fond of but it kind of worked OK, there also seemed to be a bit of a guessing game on the readers part.
I normally love this ladys books but this left me feeling rather flat to be honest.

I always love Karen Swan’s books (especially the Chet ones) for their stunning covers and exotic locations and this is no different.
Clover, our film director main character , is great: strong, talented and determined to pursue the truth about Kit the surfed turned snowboarder. Moving, tense and once again a location to add to my travel list. Perfect.

Interesting premise but I did not think the writing provided much information - piecemeal and you are supposed to fill in the blanks by thinking about why something terrible happened.
Until obviously near the end when the story comes together.
Did they win the Oscar? Somebody will have to let me know because I could not finish the book.

Simply loved this book!

Outstanding beginning which made a lump come to my throat within the first few pages, so I knew it was going to be great!

Loved all the characters, brilliantly interwoven with each other, and set in 2 sports which I know nothing about but written in such a way, you felt like you had been watching it for years. The emotional rollercoasters, not just for the main characters, but for the others, made this book stand out.

Brilliant!

My thanks to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for an honest review.

I love Karen Swan books and this is no exception. Clover is an award winning film director. She decides to do s documentary about Kit Foley as a follow up she did about his opponent Cory in surfing. Kit is being made to help with his sponsor but isn't making it easy for Clover

I thoroughly enjoyed my first Christmas book of 2021. Midnight in the Snow is set in the beautiful scenic Austrian Alps which just oozes Christmas time.
This story features two adrenaline sports of surfing and snowboarding on a professional level which links Kit Foleys life as it is exposed to the world by Clover Phillips a film director. As Clover and her film crew follow a reluctant Kit and his close knit team 24/7 tensions are high. Kit is in self-preservation mode and unwilling to share secrets of his past that will unravel why he is to blame for the tragedy that struck his once best friend and surfing rival Cory.
Another great read from Karen Swan. My thanks to Net Galley and the publishers Pan Macmillan for the ARC of Midnight in the Snow.

I read this in 2 days. I truly enjoyed it. An even paced, easy to understand book of love, hate, anger, loss, pride and misunderstandings
The book takes us on Clovers journey, she is a talented documentary maker, who made an award winning documentary about Corey Albright, a pro surfer. Due to a competitive accident his life is in tatters and Kit is to blame.
We meet Johnny the camera man, Matty the researcher who are both part of Clo's team.
In order to expose Kit the trio head off to the slopes to film a documentary. This is where the battle to get Kit to reveal himself begins, with the help of his brother, best friend and assistant Ari. Many highs and lows follow. Some steamy moments. We briefly meet Olympic snowboarder Mikey Schultz.

It was my kind of story.
Quote of the book: You wanted to beat me, more than you wanted to win.

Midnight in the Snow is set in the world of professional snowboarding. Kit Foley is trying to make his name as a major force in the sport after switching from surfing in difficult circumstances. Clover Phillips is a film maker, examining the reasons behind Kit's transference from surfing to snowboarding. Can she get under that hardened exterior to find out exactly what happened four years previous?

I really enjoyed this book. The settings were beautiful, the descriptions of a sport I know nothing about were informative and clear. The 2 main characters were fascinating, and there was a great supporting cast. Definitely worth a read, whilst wrapped up warm!
