This is the second book in the Drew family series. This book was another absolutely brilliant read in this gangland family crime thriller. Emma is one of these authors I don’t even bother reading the blurb when I hear she has a new book out, I just dive straight in. Her Rival had me completely gripped from the very beginning and had me totally engrossed until the very last page. This book ended with a bang and now I just cannot wait to read Book 3. A massive 5⭐️ read from me.

I liked this story and then I thought, "how can that be?" I liked the main characters and once again "how can that be?" Because there were some pretty dark things going on. But I realized that Lily put her finger on it. She said that they were good people doing some bad things.

I also liked how the family had each other's backs. It was the family and their business, First. Even as steely as Lily could be, she loved her family fiercely but also held them to a high standard. The family business was crime organization but she still expected the best. Her struggle with Ray also added interest to her part of the story. Also the struggles with her daughter Ruby too. The development of the people in the story had plenty of depth.

There was plenty of emotion and people set against them. At one point I thought "how are they ever going to get out of this?" They do but it also gathers speed to an explosive ending with several twists. Although maybe I shouldn't say ending because not everything has been settled. They still have a vengeful enemy on their trail. With the door wide open to more story. It did make me want to go to the next book to see how things would shake out.

I received an advanced reader copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Scarlet Drew is new to London's criminal underworld, but she's hell bent on making a name for herself as joint head of the family firm with her aunt Lily. But when Scarlet finds herself alone with a rival business owner at a black-tie event, she is little prepared for what happens next.

Scarlet is just eighteen years old but she is proving herself as the new head of the family alongside her aunt Lily. They have a new money laundering business, the police are still after Scarlet for Jasper's death and Scarlet wants revenge on the person at the black-tie event who had put her in a dangerous situation. This is only half of what goes on in this well written book.

Emma Tallon's books just keep getting better. This is my favourite one so far. Filled with twists, shocks and surprises, I could not put this book down. The more I read, the more I needed to know. The characters are all back from the first book and some new ones too. But Emma, how could you end this book like that!! My anxiety is through the roof. I need to know NOW. Roll on book 3.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #EmmaTallon for my ARC of #HerRival in exchange for an honest review.

I had read Emma Tallon’s ‘Boss Girl’ and really liked it. This book is the second in the ‘Drew’ family series (the first being ‘Her Revenge’). This is excellent gang – crime writing.

Scarlett joins the Drew family enterprise headed by her aunt Lily, which has a bunch of illegal businesses with some legitimate ones as cover. Scarlett and her mom do their best to get their lives on track after the passing of Scarlett’s dad. There are also Lily’s children – Ruby who has been wayward but after some force disciplining seems to be getting her life back on track, twins Cillian and Connor who always stay strong to keep the firm going. There is also Ray, whose association with Lily goes back many years and always looks out for her.
Scarlett gets invited to an after-event party and is assaulted. She is determined to get even (and more) with Lily and the family’s support. They plan a daring reprisal, but they gradually realize that what they have set off to do is more audacious, bigger in scale and dangerous than anything they have done in the past. On the other side is a strong woman too, who will not back down.

The character development is exceptional with very strong female characters. As the story progresses, I was drawn to many of the characters – especially Scarlett & Lily. The pace is excellent and this is a page turner. As a gang – crime series, there is violence – some bad in two episodes but was at a level which I could take. The way the book ends, it is clear the story is set to continue.

A book & author I strongly recommend. I hope the next book in the series comes out soon.

This is very good gang – crime writing.

Book two of the Drew family. I loved meeting this family earlier in the year and I enjoyed catching up with them in this book. We also have two new characters that will be interesting to see how they interact with the family in the next book. Billie being what looks like a serious girlfriend and of course John who’s actually going to set the cat amongst the pigeons when they realise his occupation. Emma always writes drawing you into the book and leaving you wanting more. Roll on book three in this fab series

Another fantastic gritty installment of this new series, I've always loved Emma's books and in my opinion they just keep getting better! A lot of new and interesting characters are introduced in this one and I can't wait to see what happens next. One of my favourite series by far!

I absolutely love this author…. She is up there with the very best, Martina Cole, Kimberley chambers and Casey Kellher..

This book is 2nd in a series but could be read as a standalone, but I prefer to start at the beginning.

The Drew’s are back, but are they in over there heads? Maybe… maybe not. No spoilers from me, from page 1 to the last page I was gripped and could not put this down. This is gangland at its best.

The only downside to this book is having to wait for the next chapter.

Oh my word, Miss Tallon, you've done it again. A corker of a read, all the stars thrown at this.

Still getting to know the Drew Family, I knew with the first book this was going to be a family to watch for. What brilliant characters the author has created.
After the death of her father, Scarlet Drew has thrown her all into the family business. Along with her aunt and her cousins this is a family not to be messed with. This family need to be one step ahead at all times because when you have what others want, then you need to watch your back.

There is enough going on in this story to keep you hooked, it certainly kept me entertained. Absloultly brilliant. Loved how it ended and intregued as to where this story could go next.
Could be read as a stand alone, but for me i'd say read Her Revenge first.

Her Rival is the second book in the Drew family series and is as good as the first book if not better.Scarlet is now firmly entrenched in the Drew family business and along with Lily,Connor and Cillian things are looking good, and when a opportunity arises to pull off their biggest job yet they just can’t turn it down but it will be there downfall? With plenty of sub plots along the way to keep you gripped it really is a top notch book again from Emma Tallon. I would advise for anyone wanting to read this series to start at the first book, you won’t be disappointed in this excellent series. As with the Tyler series of books Emma Tallon seems to be getting better and my opinion is up there with the best authors of this genre.A cracking 5 star read once again from Emma Tallon.

This is the second Instalment of the notorious criminal Drew family. There are a lot of twists that I didn’t see coming and some comical scenes of the sacred Sunday family lunch being gatecrashed by Cillian’s new girlfriend. The story finishes on a cliffhanger and I’m intrigued to see which direction the author chooses to take with it.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is book #2 in the Drew Family series. Whilst part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone book. We are picking up the story with the family trying to cope with the aftermath of what happened in the first book. The Drew family are strong though, and its business as usual, with Scarlett picking up the reins alongside her Aunt Lily. Lily is a fierce woman who doesn’t suffer fools gladly, and I really like her character, likening her to an East End version of Aunt Polly from Peaky Blinders! Scarlett still looks a little out of her depth at times, but is certainly showing she has the Drew blood running through her.

I loved this latest instalment, and I have to admit to being on the edge of my seat throughout! Scarlett is opening a new business venture, but is forced to take on an unwanted assistant in the form of her wayward cousin, Ruby. I didn’t really like Ruby in the first book, but found that she grew on me as this book moved on. Scarlett also finds herself in a dangerous situation and with the help of the family seeks out her revenge. There are a few little storylines running alongside the main plot, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next book with these.

Of course, this is a ‘gangster’ themed book and the Drew family aren’t ones for sugar coating anything! So, a word of warning that there are some violent scenes, bad language and lots of blood. It is all done in the best possible taste and appropriate to the style of the book however! The storyline grabs you from the very start, and I love how the author manages to put such great pictures of all the characters into your mind as you read – I already know who would play all the characters if this was ever televised!

The plot is realistic and full of suspense, and I just couldn’t put the book down!! Make sure you read to the very last word though, because…O.M.G.!! What the hell is going to happen in the next book???!!! I literally cannot wait to find out how the Drew family react to what has just happened! This is a fantastic read which transported me to the dark shadowy London underworld, deep into the hearts of Lily Drew and her family, and even though I finished the book hours ago, I’m still trying to process everything and catch my breath!! Best book so far! Fab. Fab. Fab. Would definitely recommend!

No secret I love this author’s books and this the 2nd in her new series ( about the Drew’s ) is my favourite yet ( it can also be read as a stand alone )
So, the Drews are back, and back for business, but have they bitten off more than they can cope with this time?,Scarlett and ‘the family boss’ Lily don’t think so, the twins ‘Cillian and Connor’ are not so sure, as the stakes get higher the tension matches it and I was thrust into just a perfect gangland family drama
There are old scores to settle, new enemies to make and new additions to the cast that make good and exciting layers to the story and all this done with Lily’s watchful eye missing nothing, I love her, her steely manner and no nonsense approach yet her 100% loyalty to family mean she is a wonderful character to read
And then Ruby re-appears and what a different Ruby ( will say no more on that )
From the opening line to the final twist of a cliff hanger last line I was involved and enjoying the fierce, powerful and dangerous situations and antics the Drew’s got themselves in
My favourite book family at the moment and the only disappointment was when I finished it knowing got to wait for the 3rd installment
Loved it

10/10

As the first book in this series, Her Revenge, ended, Scarlet Drew has laid her father Ronan to rest, and got closure by ending the life of his killer, Jasper Snow. However, the death was made to look like a suicide. As this second book in the series opens, Scarlet finds herself being questioned by the police concerning suspicious circumstances surrounding Jasper's death.

Ronan was the family head of the firm, a family that is part of the London underworld. Now Lily, Ronan's sister, is the head, and Scarlet has a powerful role. While Scarlet is dealing with the police, Lily is dealing with another sensitive matter, and that is concerning her daughter Ruby, Ruby has been missing for quite some time and Lily is turning over every stone in order to locate her. Once Ruby returns, it becomes more than clear how she feels about Scarlet. She is not too happy playing second fiddle to her cousin.

Scarlet attends a black-tie event and escapes a dangerous situation and thus sets in motion a plan of revenge. However, she just might have met her match, and is soon facing the challenge of her life. There can be only one winner, even if the results prove tragic. Meanwhile, the family will do whatever they can to protect their own. This gritty story by Emma Tallon is a thrilling read from the very first page to the shocking ending. With the introduction of new characters, Ms. Tallon has cleverly whet our appetites right at the end of this story, which will no doubt force readers wait for the third book with bated breath. Scarlet and Lily are remarkably strong women and this series is proving to be just as explosive as her Anna Davis series.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Her Rival is the second book in the Drew series, and I couldn’t wait to read this after reading the first one. Emma Tallon’s writing seems to get better and better.
Scarlett is now heading the Drew’s family business with the help of her Aunt Lily. Only 18 years old, but she is headstrong and determined knows how to conduct business. She decides to open a hairdresser with her friend Natalie which is just a front to launder money. But at the same time the police her after of her for Jasper’s death.
She attends a charity event and gets more than she bargains for when she assaulted by the person that’s holding it. So, she seeks revenge.
In the meantime, the other half of the story centres around Ruby. After coming off the drugs, she returns to the family fold. But she must prove herself and her family that she can be trusted again.
Thank you Bookouture for a copy of Her Rival. Yet again Ms Tallon does not disappoint with this next instalment in the Drew series. This is another gripping, gangland thriller that kept me turning the pages, with some breath-taking moments and I like how to author teased you with the last line of the book, leaving you wanting more. Can’t wait for book 3. 5 stars from me.

Wow! Emma Tallon has done it again.
A blindingly good read, one that gripped me from the start and didn’t let go.
I love reading about the Drew family and their exploits and this didn’t let me down.
It doesn’t end on a high note (spoiler alert) but the threads it leaves open are more than enough to keep me eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the story.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series I was super excited to make a start on Her Rival and it absolutely did not disappoint! Enough twists and turns to snap your neck (felt relevant given the episodes of violence within the book 👀)!

As I said in my review for Her Revenge, the first book in this series, I just LOVE the Drew family. Fierce, dangerous, but oh so likeable!

Let me finish by saying THAT LAST LINE 😳 Bring on installment number three!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoutute for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review 📖
