A wonderful collection of poems to make you laugh, smile and generally appreciate the magic of woven words.

Very child-friendly and some cracking creative writing ideas at the back. Deserves a place in every primary school library in the land.

Another Seigal masterpiece.
Joshua Seigal never fails to produce books of brilliant poetry perfect for sharing and enjoying. His enthusiasm shines through and infects the children, prompting an enjoyment of poetry in all ages. The poems are accessible and relatable. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

A thoroughly enjoyable collection of poems. Seigal’s effective use of rhyme and rhythm are very appealing and entice the reader to read them aloud. Teachers and children are bound to recognise and enjoy the themes and poems in this book which would be a great addition to any classroom bookshelf, particularly accessible to KS1 and Lower KS2. Several of the poems had me thinking how brilliant they would be for a whole class assembly performance; ‘Fill the World’ and ‘The Reading Journey’ being particular favourites. Whilst many of the poems will delight the children because they are laugh-out-loud funny, there are also some with more thoughtful themes, ‘Drawing my Grandma’ being a perfect, and moving example. The inclusion of advice from Seigal to help children write their own verses based on some of the poems in the book is a welcome addition, as are Sarah Horne’s joyful and exuberant illustrations.

I have many of Joshua Seigal's other poetry books so I was excited to read an early copy of 'Yapping Away'. True to form, his latest offering is full of wonderful, clever poems, which children will really relate to. There is something for everyone! It is hard to choose a favourite but I loved 'Inside', 'Drawing my Grandma' and the hilarious 'How to Have a Tantrum'. The illustrations by Sarah Horne are delightful and complement the poems well. I also really enjoy the bit at the end where Joshua Seigal gives advice on how to write your own versions of his poems. This is a great poetry book for children and I will definitely be getting copies for school - I know my classes will love it.

Once again Joshua Seigal has written another wonderful collection of poems ranging from the comical ( Yeti on the Settee) seasonal focuses on summer and autumn, sensory delights ( Delicious and Ichy Sticky Choccy Bicky) and the emotions of life through the eyes of a young person ( New Baby, Happy , Sad and How to have a Tantrum) plus lots of animal poems also throughout the book.
This is an ideal collection for children under 8 especially KS1 as the language is pitched perfectly ( adventurous yet accessible) There is even a range of ideas for budding poets at the end of the book ( or ideas for teachers and parents ) Sarah Horne’s illustrations add to the playful and emotional responses to the poems. A lovely selections to further engage young readers to the delights of language.
