I'm so excited to read the rest if this book. The first chapter pulls you in. The writing in this book is beautiful.

This is a review based on the first chapter of Sally Rooney’s newest book!

Her prose are beautiful, but I can tell that these characters are no different from her last two books: unlikeable, non communicative, passive people who have no desire to improve themselves. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s the first impression I got from this chapter, and it’s just not for me. I look forward to enjoying the beautiful prose when I can get my hands on the full book, but will keep an eye on character development.

Even just from the extract I can tell Sally Rooney’s latest will be just as fantastically written as her previous novels. I can’t wait to read more!

Bow down to Sally Rooney! Although only an excerpt, I am hooked and railed in to Beautiful World, Where Are you! Maybe it is because I am biased as I love her previous novels, but I feel like Beautiful World will be another scorcher of a novel. It is beautifully written that submersing yourself within it shall be easy yet unbearable to part with! Thanks to NetGalley and Faber for allowing me to read an excerpt of Beautiful World, Where are you.

Difficult to leave a review but for an extract but it did the job as I would live to read more! Looking forward to reading this novel.

A brief look at Sally Rooney's new book.
This has the writing style that Sally Rooney does so well and tells of youth and love and finding your way.
Alice starts the story and this book is well written and compulsive reading.
thank you for allowing me to read an extract of this big forthcoming book.

BEAUTIFUL WORLD, WHERE ARE YOU
Author: Sally Rooney

𝙎𝙔𝙉𝙊𝙋𝙎𝙄𝙎:
"Alice, a novelist, meets Felix, who works in a distribution warehouse, and asks him if he'd like to travel to Rome with her. In Dublin, her best friend Eileen is getting over a break-up, and slips back into flirting with Simon, a man she has known since childhood.

Alice, Felix, Eileen and Simon are still young - but life is catching up with them. They desire each other, they delude each other, they get together, they break apart. They have sex, they worry about sex, they worry about their friendships and the world they live in. Are they standing in the last lighted room before the darkness, bearing witness to something? Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?"

𝙈𝙔 𝙊𝙋𝙄𝙉𝙄𝙊𝙉:
First of all I want to be clear about one thing: what I read was an extract of the book, specifically the first chapter. That is all I was given, that is all I read.

I put in a request for this because I have seen so many people here talk about Sally Rooney and I wanted to see for myself what the hype was all about.

That being said, I didn't love what I read. The text was lackluster, for lack of a better word, sprinkled with a bit of sophisticated vocabulary to make it look more spicy, which it wasn't, not for me anyway. Plus what woman invites a man she barely knows to her home? In this economy?? That alone made me feel uncomfortable, to say the least.

Hopefully the rest of the book is more interesting, but from this excerpt alone I don't know if I'm all that interested in reading more of it.

💬 To those who read the whole thing, does it get better? Worse? Let me know!

I just read the first chapter of Sally Rooney's new book, Beautiful World, Where Are You, and am intrigued!
The chapter opens with Alice, a novelist, meeting a man called Felix in a hotel bar. The two seem like an odd pair and not very well matched.
Alice invites Felix back to her rented house and the night takes a "disastrous" turn when it abruptly ends, leaving Alice on her own.

After reading this I'm so intrigued as to what will happen next! It's a classic Rooney book - set in Ireland, female protagonist who is socially slightly awkward. It sounds to me like it is going to be similar to the characters in Normal People and something tells me the path to love is going to be difficult but absolutely raw and brilliant.

Cannot wait to read more!

Thank you Netgalley for the extract.

I was offered to read the first chapter of this book by NetGallery. Based on the first chapter of this book I don’t think I’m interested in the rest of the story. I found the writing boring and the story didn’t grab my attention. I’m sure it would be interesting for people who like easy Summer reads but I don’t belong to that group. Maybe I’m not the target audience.
I have “Normal People” sitting on my shelf for a while now and based on this I’m a bit hesitant if I want to read it.

I absolutely adore Sally Rooney’s unique writing style and am clamoring for more! The first chapter is signature Rooney and I can’t wait to follow these characters’ journeys.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great introductory to a book that’s surely going to be just as great. This book will definitely make a lot of “best of” lists this year! Can’t wait to read the rest.

I don't know if this is just me or if Sally Rooney's new offering - a chapter from the new book - could have been an outtake from her previous novels. Lack of quotation marks is a bit tiring.

I used to love Sally but I think I am officially done, I don't think our writing/reading styles mesh well.
Its too hard to read her books!

This one is about Alice, Felix, Eileen and Simon's problems and struggles....??? ok! it's an interesting story that is relatable but there is so much unnecessary filler and I hate the emails in between.

This book will be a hit with some, just not for me.

Thank you Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy.

My review is based on only a snippet of this book but thoroughly enjoyed what I did get to read I love Sally Rooney’s writing style and have such an easy time falling in love with and becoming invested in her characters. So excited to get my hands on the full book. Thank you to NetGalley and Faber and Faber Ltd. for this extract.

I received an extract of this to try and really enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of Sally Rooney and can't wait to read the full thing.

The extract was short but I thought it was a nice teaser for what was to come. I am giving this 3 stars just based on not having read the full thing so I can't fully rate yet. I'm interested to see the journey she takes the characters on. The extract was really well written and engaging.
