Full disclosure, I only picked this book from NetGalley because I needed a ‘market’ prompt book for the Bookstagrammer Globe Challenge (which I still have 11 outstanding prompts for so am going to fail anyway…), and when I found out it was the second in a series I thought oh for goodness sake! However, after a quick internet search I identified it focused on somebody else’s story so thought I’d give it a go.

Ferry lane is a quiet market village in Cornwall where Star and her teenage daughter live. Star owns a jewellery business and Skye (her daughter) works in the florist next door with Star’s best friend Kara (I believe the first book focuses on Kara). Star has been single most of her life focusing on raising Skye but after a fling (again I think in the first book) with a New Yorker named Jack she can’t stop thinking about him and hoping he will return. However, Jack has a girlfriend in New York that he lives with and has been ignoring all of her messages. Clearly it is time to move on. In steps Conor the mysterious Irishman who sweeps Star off her feet in a fun light hearted relationship. But when she receives life changing news Star needs to decide whether their fun relationship could be something more.

This book was wonderfully lighthearted, even though it dealt with some heavy hitting topics. It definitely wasn’t earth shattering in any way shape or form, but it was a lovely read. Star’s relationships with her family were intriguing and I could definitely relate to her overwhelming sense of responsibility to look after everybody.

Overall, it was a lovely read. I’d definitely pick up another Nicola May story (there was definitely a hint that one of the characters was moving into a different series of books by May), but I’m also not rushing to pick up another in the imminent future.

Nicola May is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. She writes with such heart and this series is such a joy!

Taking place in the same place as her last book, getting to visit Ferry Lane Market in Hartmouth, Cornwall was an absolute treat! Thirty-three year-old mom, Star, falls for an American named Jack. But, unfortunately, she manages to get her heart smashed as Jack leaves without a word.

When he comes back with hopes to explain to Star--things don't go as easily as one would hope. Enter another man... And all types of confusion for poor Star.

I absolutely adore the comforting feel of community and home that this series provides. The romance sucked me in and kept me engaged from start to finish with this lovely read. Star, and the other citizens of Ferry Lane Market are all so endearing--I can't wait to read more about them!

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This is the second book in the Ferry Lane Market series and after reading the first one and loving it I just knew I had to get my hands on this one ! And I am so glad that I did!!! I was more than happy to dive back into this beautiful market!

In this book we have Star Bligh (love that name!) , when she was 16 she got pregnant and she thought that her life was over.... but she is now the owner of a successful jewellery stall in the market while being an amazing mum to her daughter Skye . The main complication in her life now is between Jack the handsome American who left with no word and Conor who manages to sweep her off her feet.. when Jack comes back to tell her why he had to leave does she want to hear it?

This book is such a joy and pleasure to read , it is the type of book that you can cosy up with and just get completely lost in it. The characters are so well described and the way the book is written you get completely drawn into their lives . They are amazing to read about , they are so realistic like you could be reading about someone you know , they are honest down to earth characters that you can relate with.

Overall an utterly fantastic read , heart warming and keeps you wanting more and makes you want to visit Ferry Lane Market !

Stars story is one I could relate to in a way, my mum was a single parent and didn’t date so she could solely focus on me so this book gave me a new perspective on my mums life too. It was a quick and enjoyable read from start to finish. This can be read without reading the first Ferry Lane Market book but reading this one will make you want to lose yourself in this believable and entirely relatable world

Another hit from nicola May, this is the second book in this series. Great heartfelt characters with a lovely well rounded, multi level story. Totally recommend

Ferry Market Lane is becoming a favourite series as it’s riveting and excellent.
The first book was excellent but this one is even better: life affirming, heart-warming and heart wrenching at times.
It’s a multi-layered story and you can read it as a sweet romantic story or as the story of a woman and her fight to overcome difficulties and find happiness. As there’re multiple layer it will up to you to read and follow the part that talks to your emotions.
There’s a strong sense of community but the author let us see glimpse of the darker side of these community: drugs, toxic relationships, broken families.
Star, the MC, is a complex and interesting character: she’s resilient, strong, generous but there’s also a softer side. She’s faulted but there’s also a strong sense of integrity and resilience, she’s a fighter who tries to do her best for her daughter and to achieve her goals.
The author did an excellent job in developing this character. The entire cast of characters is fleshed out and realistic.
The romantic part is sweet and I liked how it plays a part in the plot but it’s not the focal point.
I love how the author delivers a heart-warming story without sugar coating reality and doing an excellent job in describing the emotions and writing realistic dialogues.
I read it in one sitting as I couldn’t put it, I wanted to know what was going to happen and enjoy the atmosphere of Ferry Lane Market. The author is an excellent storyteller and I loved how she kept my attention till the end.
This series is strongly recommended, and it improves with each story.
Many thanks to Hodder & Stoughton, Rachel's Random Resources, and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Another fantastic book from the amazing series writer, Nicola May. I was thrilled to read and review the first book in this series, so leapt at the chance for this second instalment. The characters are mostly familiar, but this time the focus is on Steren ‘Sta’ Bligh. A single mum, whose own mother was also a single mum, Star has had her personal life on hold whilst her daughter reaches adulthood.
In book one, Star had a brief encounter with Air BnB guest, Jack. So brief that they have had no contact since he that night and has now disappeared from all contact. However, months later, things start to look up when newcomer, the lovable rogue Conor shows up and turns her world upside down.
It was an absolute joy to revisit the residents of Hartmouth, they already seem so familiar, and the story picked up smoothly from book one, it was like catching up with an old friend. Kara, Billy and the rest of the characters are incredibly well developed, and yet there was chance to learn a little more about each of them. My favourite, from the supporting cast, would have to be a toss-up between great aunt Florrie and Billy’s brother, Daz.
The subjects, which this gorgeous book explores, are beautifully handled. Nicola May has a sensitive style as she examines some potentially difficult topics, she manages it a skilled amount of empathy and humour. She even sneaked in a quick mention of Cockleberry Bay.
This is another highly recommended escape, I can’t wait for the next one.

A joyful romantic tale sprinkled with magic and charm, Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market is the latest enchanting page-turner from Nicola May.

When Star Bligh found out that she was pregnant at sixteen, she thought that her future was ruined. All her hopes and dreams had to be put on the backburner while she raised her beautiful daughter Skye. Star thought that she would never achieve her goals and reach her potential. However, despite of the many obstacles standing in her way, she had worked her fingers to the bone, worked every single hour possible and put her heart and soul into making her jewellery stall in Ferry Lane Market in Hartmouth, Cornwall a success.

Romance hadn’t been a part of her plan – until she found herself swept off her feet by gorgeous American visitor, Jack. Star and Jack connected instantly and formed an intense connection. But just when Star had begun to think that she could be in love with Jack, he left without even saying goodbye to her. Star decided to write off affairs of the heart once and for all and to never have anything to do with the male of the species ever again. However, nobody had told Star that men were like buses – you wait for ages for one to come along and then two come along at once! No sooner had she sworn off romance that roguish Conor walked into her life and made her wonder whether she had been too hasty in putting her heart firmly under lock and key.

Could Conor be the man who could make Star happy? As she beings to spend more and more time with him, Star wonders whether he could be the one – until Jack strides back into town and throws her already confused feelings into further disarray. Jack is finally ready to talk and to explain the reason why he had left so suddenly, but is Star ready to listen? Should she give her relationship with Jack another try? Or is it already far too late?

As a stunning revelation comes to light that threatens to turn her whole world upside down, will Star find the courage to fight for what she wants and be the one to call the shots? Or will she once again find herself having to put everyone else first and her happiness last?

Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market is an adorable romantic tale that hits all the right notes and that will leave readers with a massive grin on their face. Nicola May writes with great humour, sensitivity and heart and in Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market has written a wonderful story about second chances, healing from the past and life’s unexpected surprises with a fantastic heroine at its centre readers cannot help but root for.

A fantastic treat perfect for curling up with, romantics everywhere will not want to miss Nicola May’s latest, Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market.

When I reviewed Welcome to Ferry Lane Market, I commented on the complicated dynamic within the Moon family. Well in this follow-up, I can tell you that it gets a whole lot more so! We get to know Kara's close friend, Star, and her daughter Skye better in this second novel and see that she has not forgotten Jack. However, she has a distraction in Conor who arrives looking for a safe haven.

The close community in Ferry Lane Market is as warm and inclusive as before and you feel that this series could have a long way to go. There are plenty of characters with their own stories. Star's family turns out to be unconventional and with a mystery to be solved. You also feel that this is a community which is credible with some hard-edged problems. Offsetting the warm, human moments, you glimpse dysfunctional families, neglect, drug and alcohol abuse to name a few issues. This is a worthy successor to the first in the series Roll on number 3!

In short: Family ties and friendships make for a warm story
Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book

A sweet story about love, family and friendship, who could say no to visit the “Ferry Lane Market”?
This is the story of Star Bligh, who never had an easy life; she got pregnant when she was young and now that her amazing daughter is getting older maybe it’s time to start taking care of herself.
Star’s love life has never been easy, she is trying to start anew after her last boyfriend returned to the US without an explanation… Is it time to forget him or to ask for answers? Of course, it will not be as easy as it seems, thoughts and feelings are never easy to talk about or to accept… Are you ready to discover them?
This is the second book of the series Ferry Lane Market, you can read it as a standalone, but the characters are so lovely and the story so addictive that I am sure you’ll want to read the full series!
This is a story to wonder if it’s worth getting second chances, to search for answers you maybe are not ready to… But believe me, this book will make you smile and believe in happiness. Because, in the end, it doesn’t matter what you choose, only that you are happy.
Ready for a trip to the “Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market”?

Thank you to Rachel for letting me take part in this tour and to Hodder and Stoughton for my copy of this book via Netgalley. I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I was excited to return to Ferry Lane Market for the festive season. While this is the second book in the series you can read both books as standalone but you will get the most enjoyment if you read both.

Star is the main character in this book. She was featured in the first book but she was a secondary character in that one. Star has been through so much in her life. This has made her such a strong person but also someone who holds everything in and only relies on herself. Star had the weight of the world on her shoulders. It was nice to see her relax and be a bit carefree in this book. Star is the sort of person you always want as a friend as she puts others first and will be there for you when you need her the most.

I really enjoyed returning to Hartsmouth and seeing how all the characters are getting on. I love this little town and all its inhabitants. I loved dropping in on Kerry and seeing how she’s been doing since the last book. I also liked the story with Darren. I thought this was quite a touching story.

If you are looking for a romance with a sprinkling of festiveness then this is the one for you

Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market by Nicola May is a wonderful contemporary romance that takes place in Cornwall and the second book in the excellent series: Ferry Lane Market. I loved it!

I loved the first book in this series, so I was excited that I could have a chance to visit this fun, quirky, unique, and beautiful small village again. This time we get to follow along with Star’s story. As a former teenage/young mother, ( and come on 33 is still young but I do like the fact that the main character is in her 30s) she has had her fair share of ups and downs. Add a mystery and confusion surrounding a love interest, Jack, that has been in and out of her life without an obvious outward answer, toss in some interference with a seemingly dashing new guy to mix things up, and a personal quest to find herself, and one has a great book.

I liked Star, Jack, and the rest of the character cast surrounding the Market. The dialogue is fun, easy, snazzy, and it balances nicely with some of the more serious moments. There is so much more material available for future books, so I am very excited to see where this goes.

5/5 stars

Thank you NG and Hodder & Stoughton for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication.

A single mother with a love dilemma😕

This is really the story of a community, not just a couple's romance or a story of family and friendship. Set in a small Cornish town, it's full of friends, relatives and neighbors who really care about and for each other. It's a lovely take on village life.

It did take a while for me to warm up to Star, a jewelry maker & single mother who's not over one man when she starts a hot relationship with Conor, the new man in town. Star has her share of problems, worrying about her teenage daughter and facing off against her mother; Conor helps brighten her days and warm her nights so she can try to forget Jack, the man who stole her heart in a whirlwind visit during the previous summer.

I found the first story in the series more compelling but this was a good ensemble of characters I grew to care about and had a lovely ending.

Thanks to Hodder & Stoughton and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

This book is the second book in the Ferry Lane Market series. It can be read as a standalone novel, but is much more enjoyable when it is read as past of the series.
In this book we catch up with Kara and Billy but the main protagonist is Star, Kara's best friend. Star became pregnant at 16, and now her daughter Skye is growing up. Star evaluates her life choices and her family members to try and work out what she wants to do next.
Star suddenly finds that she has a lot of upheaval and needs to decide what she wants to do. There are a lot of twists and turns and revelations, some of which affect other characters too.
There are a lot of subplots involving other characters, some old, some new. Although there was always something happening it was easy to read and understand. The writing flowed well and I was compelled to keep on reading.
I really enjoyed reading this book, there were some surprises along the way and it was very emotional in places. It was a very heartwarming read. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

The second book in Nicola May’s Ferry Lane Market series, Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market, transports us once again to Hartmouth. Home to Steren (Star) Bligh and Kara Moon. This time around, Star is our protagonist and we learn how challenging life has been for her since she had her daughter, Skye, at age sixteen. Since then, Star has built herself a career and a home for them both. There is just one thing missing....

I love how the author brings all the characters together and somehow they all become intertwined. With such a close-knit community, it’s surprising that newcomers are made to feel welcome, but they really are. As long as they treat the current residents in the right way then they will soon become part of the furniture.

There are twists and turns as we learn the stories behind some of the characters’ lives. Many of these aren’t expected and I’m sure you’ll be shocked at things you discover as you read on. However, as life in Ferry Lane Market continues, I developed a virtual friendship with many of them and, as always, with books that create an enveloping feeling, I want to visit Hartmouth, buy some flowers from Kara, and some exquisite jewellery from Star! I hope Nicola has started writing the third in the series because I can’t wait for another trip to Ferry Lane Market.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of Starry Skies in Ferry Lane Market, and a special thanks to Nicola May for ensuring I got a copy. 🤗

STARRY SKIES IN FERRY LANE MARKET by NICOLA MAY.

Take a trip back to the welcoming community of Hartmouth. On Ferry Lane Market we catch up with Star Bligh who owns a successful jewellery stall.
This is her story. We explore Star’s relationships with both her mother Estelle and Skye her daughter, as well as the rollercoaster ride that is her love life.
There is a lot of drama and twists and turns as Star seeks her happily ever after.

It was good to catch up with previous characters and to see where life has taken them since we were last in Heartmouth.

Nicola May creates a lovely community feel in all her books, but Heartmouth is especially warm and welcoming.

This is book 2 in the Ferry Lane Market series. It can be read as a stand alone, but really is best read in publication order.

Warm, charming, full of emotion, action-packed and generally a flipping good read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With thanks to #NetGalley and #HodderAndStoughton for an ARC of #StarrySkiesInFerryLaneMarket by #NicolaMay.

I loved this emotional story, packed with drama and action, set in a wonderful place full of great people. It's just your idyllic place where to live.
Having not read the first book of the series, Welcome to Ferry Lane Market, I felt a bit left out at the beginning, feeling that uneasy feeling of "there's something I'm not told about this story".
The sensation didn't last long, as I was soon engulfed in the lovely characters and their engrossing stories, nonetheless I had the urge to buy and read the first instalment as soon as I finished this one.
What I'm trying to say is, yes, you can read this book as a standalone, but the enjoyment is higher if you read the first one first.
And now I'm all ready and can't wait for the third one of this brilliant series!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me ith an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I’m enjoying reading this Ferry Lane Market series. The characters are so relatable and the way the story continues to develop with each book is a pleasure to read.

In this book, we find out what Kara and the characters from the first book are doing since our last visit, but the main character focus for this story is Star, as well as her daughter Skye, and her relationship with mother Estelle. Along with all this, we find out which of the gorgeous men Star ends up with.

Reading all about the way the characters interact, it felt as though you could hear them talking at your own local market.

An absorbing read, about life in Hartmouth, I was hooked. Reading about how Jack's life is since he was in Hartmouth, the way Star was with Connor, as well a revelation from one of boys that work the ferry.

This book had everything action, drama and emotion, secrets were also uncovered.

I’m looking forward to seeing what will come in the next book.

Highly Recommend This Series.

So this is the 2nd book based in Ferry Lane Market. I couldn’t wait to read it. This book concentrates more on the character of Star but still includes all the others from the 1st book. I loved how it carried on really well from the 1st, was very intrigued to see what had happened to the main characters. It gave you a lot more insight into Stars upbringing and still showed you what a great friendship she has with Kara. It brings Jack back into the story as well. A great story that I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend. So delighted also to see there is going to be a third one in this series - really looking forward to it.
