Really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from the author such a lovely cosy read. I loved the first book in the series and the sequel did not disappoint.

Just perfect!
I loved the characters and the whole sense of warmth I felt whilst reading this book.
I liked the relationship between Veronica and Daisy and how Veronica seems to have grown in this sequel.
Along with being heartwarming the underlying message of climate change and family resonated a lot
Another triumphant read

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Fantastic book, a great sequel to the first book. It took me a while to get into it but once I did I was hooked!

An absolute delight! I read the first book after receiving the NetGalley of this, book two. Feel-good, plucky and interesting older female lead, terrific supporting characters.

I was invited to read this title having previously received Away With The Penguins.

Unfortunately I could not get along with the main character and have no interest in reading this sequel.

Call of the Penguins continues Veronica's intrepid and surprising journey with the penguins.

An exceptional book, and a great talent - thoroughly recommended.

This was such a beautiful sequel to Away with the Penguins 🐧 and I would love to read more books by this author.

I just love Veronica and she’s developed so much from the first book where she was a grumpy and reclusive character and now she’s so open to love, adventure and friendship.

A feel-good, wholesome read 💖

I absolutely adored Away with the Penguins so had very high hopes for the sequel...
Sadly, it really didn't meet my expectations there were lots of big issues in the plot but I felt none where adequately given closure or discussion.
My favourite characters were Daisy & of course the penguins!

This was a very easy flowing read but there is a lot going on and many plot lines. Many topical events but just with fleeting focus and it felt like nothing ended up as the main event. It started off so well but the end was an uneventful let down. The young daisy was my favourite character and I would certainly read a book all about her!

My thanks to NetGalley and Black Swan publishing for the opportunity to review this book.
I loved it, regretting that I left it so long to actually read it.
Poignant, emotional and in parts humorous. I didn't realise that it was a sequel but it didn't detract from my enjoyment. Now I want to read the first book.
A must cosy book with all the feels

this was a lovely story. You didn't need to read the first book, but I would like to play catch up after reading this one.

I loved the fact that the various penguins were key characters of the story - Pip, from Locket Island, and Petra and Tony once Veronica goes to work with Sir Robert Saddlebow for his nature documentary,

To begin with, this seems like a book about penguins and Veronica, but it is so much deeper than that. There are issues of abandonment, and family background, from history that is unknown, due to the suicide of a parent, and abandonment from the other (of Patrick) and therefore what transpires with his relationship with Terry,

Let alone the wonderful character, Daisy, with her fun view of life, especially the joy she brings once she arrives in Bolder, and her insistence that everyone (even penguins get friendship bracelets) let alone what happens to Petra...

Terry's part of the story made me sob, so beautifully written, and a situation that is bravely discussed. From coming back to Patrick, after him abandoning Locket Island, to them coming back together and its conclusion.

I can only say wow to this book!

"Veronica McCreedy can't resist the promise of adventure . . .

Nine-year-old Daisy and nearly ninety-year-old Veronica make an unlikely pair of friends."

This book is a sequel to Away With The Penguins, and this book picks Veronica up and takes her and her new friend 9 year old Daisy on another adventure to spend some time with the penguins. It is filled with love, laughter, the occasional mishap and a little bit of danger, but ultimately it is a lovely book and one I have recommended to many.

Charming. That is really about all I have to say about this lovely book.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed book one and like Mrs Mcreedy as a character, but felt that this didn't quite live up to it sadly. I do like the important message that it gives about the planet and wildlife.

I enjoyed Away With The Penguins, Veronica was a fab character so I was interested to see where her journey led, this continued her story well and it was good to see more of some of the other characters however I didn’t feel it was as uplifting as the first book. There were times the book felt a bit preachy but otherwise it was really informative about penguins and I loved the impact they had on the characters.
