Sheryl Browne has done it again! I loved her previous psychological thrillers and this one was even better! Just when you think you've got it figured out, she throws in another twist that leaves you scratching your head wondering just what happened.

The author's characters are likeable, believable and vulnerable which makes her books a joy to read.

Sheryl Browne can do no wrong for me with her writing, this book is one of her best, so well written on this sensitive topic it had me engrossed in the storyline from the beginning until the very last page. The characters were all brilliant and the amount of research Sheryl must have done certainly shines through to write this brilliantly addictive book.

I received an ARC of ‘The Liar’s Child’ by Sheryl Browne through NetGalley, from Bookouture. This book stood out to me, and I was pleased to be able to read when I got the approval through.

This book follows Kay, her husband Matt, and their five-year-old daughter Poppy. Poppy is struggling with an illness which could lead to a more serious condition.

Poppy goes to school like any normal five-year-old and she makes a new best friend called Olivia. When Kay sees Olivia for the first time, she can’t believe her eyes as she is like a twin of her own daughter. How could this be?

Kay has her suspicions about Olivia and soon her paranoia spirals, can she trust her Husband?

Matt is a neonatal specialist working in the paediatrics department of the hospital. Suddenly his brother returns to the area, and he must work through his fears and anxieties, due to the past they have between them.

What follows is a mass of secrets exposed, whose suspicions will be true? All that is certain is that Kay will do anything to protect her daughter.

I really enjoyed reading this book, although the amount of tension and paranoia between the characters had me going through the same turmoil in my head. I was constantly thinking: What is going to happen? Should they be trusted?

What shines through is the love that these parents have for their daughter. Their daughter is very brave and strong with what she is going through, and this would be a heart-breaking situation for any parent.

Overall, a tense and emotional psychological thriller, which shows a mother will do anything to protect her daughter.

I started this amazing book a few days ago - it came with me on the Norfolk Broads.
This book had me hooked from the very start! I couldn't decide who I needed to side with: Kay, Poppy's mum, Matt - Poppy's dad or others who I won't name become don't want to spoil it for you.
I went through all the emotional feelings and was exhausted by the end...a must buy.

There has been an impressive amount of research done for this book, much facts ( not boring ) and understanding on how a child and their family would cope and live with kidney disease, how the disease can progress and therefore looking at testing of the disease and the strains of a child having a chronic disease on a family, also research on being a paediatrician and also adoption, I would then say this is a medical psychological drama, sensitively done with lots of forework before the story was even written
And it is a good story, mingling all the above with jealousy, revenge, sibling rivalry, anxiety, regret and blackmail to name but a few, there are many layers to the story yet it keeps you updated, in the loop and unconfused as the book progresses
It is quite a moving book at times, you can see the motives/ feelings ( justifiably and not so ) from all character perspectives with sometimes maybe a ‘just speak to each other’ thrown in by the reader
This the authors 9th book I have read and loved them all although would say the writing and narrative have taken a different turn in this book

I was a bit disappointed after reading so much hype about this author and the book. This is my first book by Sheryl Browne, and of my favourite genre- domestic thriller, yet, I was bored half the way reading.

The plotline was just a repeat of misunderstanding that could be resolved instantly if both parties just communicated. I felt like it was a lot of lazy conflicts such as wife leaned in for a hug with the brother while the husband walked in. The husband and wife just constantly suspected each other was up to no good, yet, they never found the time or had the emotional maturity to just ask the questions and talk.

Overall, it was too predictable for me, maybe more suited for someone who didn't read much thrillers.

The Liar’s Child is a solid domestic suspense novel. I enjoyed the main character, Kay, and I found the plot interesting.

The story centres on Kay and Matt Young who will do anything to protect their only child, Poppy. When Poppy’s health begins to fail, family secrets start to unravel. A mysterious student and an estranged brother enter the narrative and cause Matt and Kay to question everything they thought they knew about one another and their marriage.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book; I was hooked and had a hard time putting it down until I got to the 45% mark. At that point, the story hinges on the lack of communication between the adults in the book and I found myself frustrated and bored wondering how many more times I could read a scene where Kay and Matt try to talk about their problems, fail, and storm out. It wasn’t until the 75% mark that the story picked back up and I found myself turning pages with anticipation.

Overall this is a decent narrative, but the bit of drag in the middle made it a 3 star read for me. I would definitely give Sheryl Browne another try, but this book in particular did not knock my socks off. Nonetheless it was a good read.

This was an ok well written book which had an interesting storyline. A bit slow burner for me and it wasn't as thrilling as I imagined but the characters were interesting and well developed.

The queen of psychological thrillers strikes again….

I am a massive fan of Sheryl’s so I went into this not reading the blurb so having no idea what to expect my first thoughts are Wowsers what a story….where do I start!
This story is so well written and thoroughly researched it has totally blown my mind. With Twist after twist, Sheryl has excelled herself.

From the start I was pulled into a story that drip feeds you, building up layers that will keep you guessing until the end. When we meet Kay and Matthew and their daughter Poppy who has a kidney disease which is heartbreaking. So much sensitivity has gone into this book. You can feel the emotion throughout the story. My heart totally went out to Kay and Matthew.

Then we meet Jason, Matthew's brother Without giving anything away. Lets just say It wouldn't be a Sheryl Browne book without the family drama.The Lair’s Child is a story full of secrets and lies which throws you sideways with all the tension and suspense as they unravel. I couldn't read this fast enough wanting to know what was going to happen next. I was taken on one hell of a rollercoaster ride that I am lost for words to describe how brilliant this book is.

This is without a doubt Sheryl’s best book yet! I love it and cannot recommend it enough giving it all the stars.

This must have been one of the longest Read A I have ever had. Ok I was a little ill not a couple of days were I didn't read much. However I never thought would been to the end. .It must seemed to go on and on and on with stuff I didn't really think was necessary to complete the book ok it had some bearing on the story which it could have been cut down a lot. Yet the author seemed to want to stretch the book out that eventually I started to lose the pilot not in a literal sense it was just in my eyes a bit over wrote without so much as a proper ending not even close to a proper ending, in the middle kay and Matt went through so much turmoil. Again ok for a bit but not the amount of time it went off on this book. It just wasn't real. Each walking away scared to know the truth. It became boring overall could have been far better workout all the as she as he going back and forth the way it did. What was the point of the accident at the end. Because had the author been trying to make a
Long which at first because Matt got that phone call regarding tissue typing and how he was dreading the results had the author forgotten Matt knew the results they was given out earlier a few chapters back. Really really. What exactly was the point,, still baffled it just dragged on and on when it didn't have too. Overal! As I have already said could have been a really good book had the author not suddenly become all fluff and repeated things so often ok drag off on a bit. A big difference a bit to probably 6/8 chapters dragging on too fsr. It would have been better to have cut those chapters out instead of all the same things we had read so many times fluff just fluff to make a longer book which for me did not do the book any favours at the end left half finished first as I said what was the point of the car crash .... 2 Nicola may finding out who set the. Fite, What was kay going to do ???????????? Matt still in hospital wil! He ever be a neonatal Dr again ??????????? Kay and her job ??????????/Amelia her future as a student ??????????? Just so unfinished

The Liars Child is quite an addictive read as I tried to unravel the mystery as to who was The Liar.

The story is about a family, Kay and Matt and their sick young child Poppy. Kay is obviously desperate to do anything to make poppy well so when she meets another little girl who is the spitting image of her daughter, her eyes are set on her being a kidney donor for Poppy.
Lack of communication .misunderstandings and loss of trust cause friction between Kay and Matt which adds to the suspense and drama of this story.

This was a great read and kept me hooked until the last page.
Kay and Matt have a little girl called Poppy who unfortunately is unwell and needs a transplant. Poppy has a new best friend called Olivia and they look so alike they must be related. What follows is the slow disintegration of Matt and Kay’s marriage as both believe the other must of cheated. Throw in Oliviia’s adoptive mother, Matts hated brother Jason and a unknown woman who seems to want to cause trouble and you have an emotional rollercoaster.
The book is written from several different POV including Matt, Kay and the mysterious woman. I enjoyed that none of the characters were perfect and all handmade mistakes. The final conclusion seemed a bit disjointed but that didn’t detract from the story.

The Liar's Child by Sheryl Browne is another addictive read from this author, although I daresay it was not my favourite. While the premise screams intrigue, I felt that the execution was a little bit drawn out, leading to a conclusion that certainly requires a high tolerance for coincidence and disbelief. Nonetheless, this was an enjoyable read, and Ms Browne's writing is so fluid that you will virtually fly through the pages.

Kay and her husband Matt share a love for their daughter Poppy, a little girl who suffers from declining kidney function as the result of a lingering infection. One day at the school gate, Kay meets Poppy's new friend, a beautiful child named Olivia who bears a striking resemblance to her own daughter. The girls must be related, but how can Kay keep this discovery from her husband without her own past secrets coming to light?

There are twists and turns aplenty here, and at least one or two coincidences too many but, that notwithstanding, this is undeniably a fun ride. I look forward to the next offering from Ms Browne with much anticipation.

When I saw my next read was one by this author, I was thrilled. I like the way she writes and takes you on a journey through the lives of her characters. What a journey it was’

I love psychological thrillers. The baddies are master manipulators, born liars and cheaters, but sometimes people play mind games because they seek revenge. Revenge for what has been done to them or a loved one or to keep someone they care deeply about, safe. No matter what they have to do or who they hurt in the process… there is only one goal and they are desperate to achieve it.

Talking helps. I totally agree, but often you are afraid to say or ask something because you are afraid of what the outcome or answer will be. It’s, a lot of times, insecurity that keeps you from having conversations. He wants to, but will she appreciate it and she has the same doubts. So, both keep quiet and the problems only escalate.

NO! Only a small two letter word, but it has so much meaning. Pity people ignore it completely on so many occasions. If they would listen, the world would be a greater place with a lot less problems and heartbreak.

This is a great emotional story with a few earthquakes included and I enjoyed it thoroughly. 5 stars

I didn't enjoy this book as much as some of Sheryl Browne's other books, but worth a read nonetheless. The LIar's Child was a nail-biter of a book! Kay and Matthew are a happily married couple who have a daughter with a kidney disease that may prove fatal. But secrets and insecurities are starting to unravel them. Kay dated Matthew's brother before she dated him. Old insecurities come to light and possibly old flames may have started to burn again.

Someone is keeping secrets. Matthew firmly believes it is Kay and Kay believes it is Matthew. Are they both untrustworthy? And how will this affect their daughter? When Matthew's brother Jason comes back into their lives and a little girl who could be their daughter's twin appears, what does it all mean? Will they are their marriage survive?

What a great story! I stayed up way too late reading one more page, one more chapter to find out what was going to happen next. Kudos to Ms. Browne on a story well told, I can't wait to read more of her thrilling books!

In General, I have always been a big fan of Sheryl Browne, but "The Liars Child" just didn't catch me . The storyline was ok. At best.

The story just jumped right in to wanting this little girl that looked like Poppy (saying surely they were half sisters just based on them looking very similar) and then jumping into a plan to try get the mum to get to donate the little girls kidney!?!

Same things were being repearted over and over again in the storyline regards Jason and Matt's fight from several years before and the fact that Jason and Kay had gone out together, several years before, I felt like - yes I know that, why are you repeating it again!?!

At times I became really exacerbated by the is he/she going to leave me storyline- as it felt childish. Talk to each other like adults I was screaming inside!!

By chapter 42 I was really contemplating skipping to the end of the book, why so drawn out!?! You're screaming at them to just bloody talk and listen to each other.
Feeling annoyed - like this is clearly going no where but around in circles!!

By the time I got to the final few chapters, and everything starts to transpire I found I wasn't shocked, I'd pretty much guessed the narrative of the story from the beginning and the plot twists just weren't believable. Especially when Amelia had put herself forward for testing in secret and was now the donor- it was as if the author was clutching at straws to try and add something extra to the storyline that just wasn't again - believable- . I genuinely do love Sheryl Browne but this storyline was as if it had been written by someone completely different, it didn't capture me at all.

A well-written, but highly uncomfortable story that dealt with misunderstandings, manipulations and medical science.

Kay and Matt Young's perfect life is marred by their five-year old daughter, Poppy's health condition. As the couple struggle to balance their work and home life, along with the increasing demands and worries of Poppy's illness, vile minds threaten to split their precious family.

I loved the characters of Kay and Matt - their love for each other despite their conflicts, their dedication to Poppy, and their commitment to their respective professions were admirable. There really wasn't much of a plot twist and it was quite evident who the baddies in the story were right from the beginning. However, the author's writing was so compelling that it left me in a constant state of anxiety, worrying about the fate of the Youngs' marriage.

This story is a prime example of why communication is key in any relationship. The plot literally frustrates you with the lack of communication between Kay and Matt that leads to a landslide of misunderstandings. Add to it the instigators trying to force them apart and there were times, I just wanted to scream at the couple to 'talk to each other, for God's sake.' Also I couldn't digest how Kay and Matt jumped to conclusions regarding Amelia quite easily without any proof; yes they were right in a few of those conclusions, but the thought process or reasoning that justified that conclusion was missing.
Random note: The word 'poorly' was overused in this book.

This is another fantastic book by Sheryl Browne. There are plenty of twists and the story is unusual but enjoyable. It’s a little far fetched and predictable but doesn’t take away from the enjoyment. I’d recommend this book.

The Liar's Child is no exception. From cover to cover I had to keep turning the pages to discover what? and who? Brilliant twists and turns.
