Shalini Boland’s latest thriller is about a couple, Nina and Zac, who move into a beautiful two flat on the idyllic Mistletoe Lane. They are in the lower unit, and excited by the prospect of owning their own place. Nina is hopeful that having neighbours so close by (and upstairs) will provide an opportunity to make new friends.

Will she be able to find something interesting?
The writer totally nailed it.

4 stars! This was a well-written, quick read. I found it entertaining even though some parts of the book were unbelievable.

A quick fast paced read! Suspenseful page turner that will leave you wanting more! Zac and Nina move into a new apartment. They are hoping to have a fresh start and leave their past behind them, but not long after they start to have doubts about their home and the dream is starting to feel like a nightmare when they hear yelling upstairs. Chris and Vanessa live upstairs and Nina hears constant arguing with Chris appearing to be the master manipulator to his pregnant girlfriend Vanessa. Many things are going seriously wrong, Zac and Nina are also fighting a lot and their relationship appears to be seriously at risk. Will they live happily ever after or will it end badly? Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.

A new home, a new business, a new beginning for Nina and Zac with a good couple upstairs. Until things started going wrong for Nina. Every single thing. Her love of 5 years too left her.

The beginning was fun when Nina had to see one thing going wrong after the other.
The final motive was slightly weak, reminded me of Mean Girls movie where *spoiler alert* high school still influenced the perp even after 2 decades.
The writing was good where the build-up of suspense was step-wise. Screws were being tightened on Nina from all directions.

There were a few unanswered questions, book could have had more suspense.
Short chapters made the book turn fast. Overall an okay read.

I'm always excited when I find a thriller that gets people talking, and I had heard a bit about this, the story of Nina, who has just moved into a house divided up into apartments. Nina has everything going for her with a fledgling business and her boyfriend Zac. I'll admit this was a hugely slow burner for me and so would be perfect for someone new to thrillers. The presence of so many unlikeable characters helped in adding to tension and having me speed up to see what would happen. All in all it was enjoyable but not totally for me. Thanks so much to the publisher and Netgalley for the book in return for an honest review.

The Couple Upstairs, by Shalini Boland, is another psychological l mystery that will be enjoyed by her fans! When Nina and Zac, a couple in their early 30s by their dream home by the sea, things start to go awry almost immediately. Nina, who recently started her own online clothing store and Zac, a successful plumber, are excited for their new adventure as homeowners in an upscale neighborhood. When they meet Chris and Vanessa, their upstairs neighbors, strange occurrences begin: they fall ill, weird noises at night, rumors in the neighborhood and disasters to Nina's business all but threaten to destroy her. This book will make you question how well you know your neighbors! While the plot and motivations may be a little more far fetched than Boland readers are used to (pointed out in some early reviews) fans will enjoy this newest release, 3.5 stars.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

This was a quick read for me, but that could be because the storyline seemed very familiar and maybe even overdone. This was just okay for me and didn't contain any of the twists and surprised I look forward to in my psychological thrillers. Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for an advanced reader copy of this book for an honest review.

Nina and Zac think they have found the perfect flat to start their new lives, along with her new business Mistletoe Lane. They quickly become friends with the upstairs neighbors, Chris and Vanessa. Nina can't put her finger on what seems off about their relationship, and you will never believe the twist that it turns out to be.
There are a couple of plot gaps, but the story moves along enough that you don't realize it until the end. I look forward to reading more of Shalini Boland's work.

The Perfect Family was my first book by this author and still the one I enjoyed the most to date.

The writing style is smooth and easy. I quickly get immersed in her stories and enjoy the characters (even though they are usually not a likable lot). This story was no different, a quick read and a interesting premise. The reveals were ok for me, not as original and a tad underwhelming from prior work. It still was enjoyable and a fun ride just not my favorite.

Admit it, many of us are nosy neighbours? Out the corner of your eye we all notice the comings and going of our neighbours. Curiosity is a human trait! But we don’t know what goes on behind closed doors do we? Oh you are in for a treat with The Couple Upstairs! Put your feet up with a cuppa and you will be drawn into the comings and goings on Mistletoe Lane.

The main characters are Nina and Zac. The story is mainly told through Nina. They have just bought their first home, a ground floor flat in a converted house. Directly above them live Chris and Vanessa. Chris is downright creepy, Vanessa is pregnant and a quiet person. Nina becomes worried for Vanessa as she hears lots of shouting above her. Then things start to go wrong for Nina, strange things that make her question herself. Have they made a massive mistake moving to Mistletoe Lane? You will have to read it to find out!

I love a good creepy neighbours thriller! It’s tantalising, twisty and extremely addictive – you will be totally hooked!

ELECTRIFYING, GRIPPING, AWESOME.

I loved the book! I only read one of Shalinis books before - My Little Girl which I adored. The blurb to The Couple Upstairs and seeing that it is by Shalini is what pushed me to request reading and I am so glad I did because I was not in the least disappointed. The book follows the lives of Nina and her boyfriend Zac who purchase a new house by the seaside. They are estatic especially Nina who pushed the whole idea and is keen to start her own online store.

On moving day, they meet their new neighbors who live upstairs, also a couple - Chris and Vanessa. Things seem to be going well at first. They relax in their new house, they organize parties and love their new surroundings. Slowly, the new life they have built for themselves become a nightmare. From strange things happening, to the weird noises Nina hears at night from upstairs, their lives become a rumple thus affecting their relationship. Something weird is going on upstairs and Nina is hellbent on finding out what. Are their new neighbors really who they say they are?

This was a thrilling read for me. I read without stopping from the start to finish. The drama was just so good, I was perched on the edge of my seat. I had a few guesses as usual as to who the bad guy is. None were right. Hence why it was shocking to read the main reason why everything was happening! Epic story, fast paced, incredible storyline and likeable characters. I enjoyed reading this.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for the arc copy of this book.

I always enjoy Shalini Boland’s books and this one certainly didn’t disappoint . Zac and Nina are a young couple excited to buy a ground floor flat. Nina thinks this will be perfect for a new start as Zac is self employed and Nina is working from home building an online fashion store business. Chris and Vanessa, who is five months pregnant, live in the upstairs flat. Nina quickly becomes suspicious of Chris as she hears lots of shouting and arguing and is concerned about his treatment of Vanessa who appears very quiet and reserved, things start to go wrong or Nina when her business starts getting bad reviews and her relationship with Zac starts to crumble as someone is spreading malicious lies about her. There is also chapters in the book written in the past from the perspective of a young person who was struggling with school until he met Alex. How is this person connected to the story? This was a twisty and addictive read, full of suspicions, deceit, mystery and lies. A great psychological thriller with a completely unexpected ending. Another brilliant read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Nina & Zac buy their first place, together. It's one big house split into two units. They bought the downstairs unit. Their upstairs neighbors are intrusive & strange. Whenever they speak to one another, it ends in a shouting match. It kind of reminds you of the ID channels free thy neighbor. The upstairs neighbors have insinuated themselves into Nina & Zac's lives, but not in a good way. The resentment & sabotage are beyond belief.
