This book was chilling, tense, gripping, addictive. It transported me. I could not put it down. All of this author's books have this effect on me but this one was some thing else. Do read it. Just wow.

As always a thrilling and deeply entrancing read. Believable place people and the positions they get themselves into and the efforts to hide!! Wow thanks

Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing company, Bookouture, and the author, Shalini Boland for an early copy of this book for my honest review.

I've read all of Shalini's books so far, and I truly have enjoyed all of them. This one was exciting to read, however it wasn't the best book by Shalini.

I thought the characters were kind of hard to like, and the plot, while believable, lacked just a little more 'something'. However, this one book will not stop me from waiting for the next one from this author.

The first time I step inside this cosy apartment with its sash windows, just minutes from the sea, I think it would be the perfect place for me and my partner Zac to start again. A chance to leave our troubled past behind. Chris and Vanessa, the couple upstairs, are so welcoming: smiles, flowers, a home-baked cake. It’s strange how he does all the talking, and she seems so shy, but I’m just thrilled to have new friends nearby. But everything starts to go wrong… my business begins to crumble, I can’t ignore the whispers at our housewarming party and loud arguments from upstairs keep me awake at night. I can’t sleep, I can’t think straight and I feel like someone is watching me in my own home. And then Zac comes home one afternoon, his face clenched with fury, and says he knows what’s going on. He knows about my secret. He won’t listen to me. He storms out and I’m left in tears, completely devastated. Why has my life fallen apart since we moved here? Am I going mad? Or is someone trying to destroy us?

Oh I did love reading this! Boland begins on moving day, we experience the excitement that comes with owning your dream house and then everything starts to go wrong. I was completely gripped by this read. Boland throws in twist after twist, it was intoxicating and continued until the very end. There is so much to unearth and it all makes for electric reading. This is expertly crafted by Boland, nothing is there for shock value and it all has a purpose, I just loved reading this and discovering all the secrets and lies.

The characters are good, they are likeable enough that I was connected to them but they are reserved as well, I was never too sure who was telling the truth and whose side I should be on and that made it all the more exciting.

This plot is quite simple but it is incredibly effective. Why make something complex when you can produce simple perfection. This was such a good read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance copy.

Nina thinks she and Zac are moving into their perfect home! It is charming, the neighborhood is great, and she can't wait to make it their own. But from the first moment she meets the upstairs neighbors, Chris and Vanessa, something feels off. Over time the perfect home begins to feel like a prison. Is Chris and abusive husband? Does Vanessa need her help? And on top of that, who is sabotaging Nina's business and drawing a wedge between her and Zac?

Nina has plenty of challenges thrown before her in this quick paced and exciting thriller. She is a very likable character and I enjoyed seeing what was coming her way next, and how she would handle it. There is a twist at the end I didn't see coming. This book kept me thoroughly entertained and I couldn't stop reading!

Thank you to NetGalley, author Shalini Boland, and Bookouture for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I particularly like this author and was excited to read this one. While it hasn't been my favourite of her books it was a very good read that kept me turning the pages. Nina and Zac are super excited having bought their new home until they meet their new neighbours that are a little weird and argumentative. Strange things begin to happen and it isn't long before Zac and Ninas life is thrown into disarray. A twisty book that will stay with the reader a long time.

Nina and Zacare move into their new flat in a beautiful area, but soon after that strange things begin to happen. Nice thriller, I really enjoyed it.
Thanks to Netgalley for this book.

This book was very fast paced and intriguing, you think you know what's happening, but you really do not.
The author pulls your sympathy in all directions before the book is finished.

I was able to read this book thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. The Couple Upstairs are the antagonists to the couple downstairs. So much happens so quickly, it feels as if they are living in a bad dream. I was kept guessing until the end. I usually figure out the plot quickly but not this time. This is a well thought out thriller. Good writing and now I will read other books by Shalini Boland.

I loved The Wife by this author, so was excited for the latest offering.
This was a good read, although not up to the same standard as The Wife in my opinion.
A predictable domestic thriller, but the unpredictable parts forayed into the unbelievable.
I hoped she would get back to the same heights, but unfortunately this one lacked a few elements that I need in my thrillers.

Absolutely loved this book
Had me hooked from the start
It went one way then when you thought you knew what was going on it pulls you the other way.
Thanks NetGalley

First of all I would like to thank NetGalley and the Publisher for my requested copy of this Ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Seriously guys … this is not a book you want to miss out on. If you love a good thriller then this is the book for you. It was incredibly fast paced throughout – honestly didn’t have a moment to catch my breath. The descriptive writing was on point and the characters were simply brilliant.

I’ve never met a sneakier couple than the Jackson’s. These two left my head spinning. Just goes to show, you can’t really trust anyone, you will never know when something is just an act to reel you in until your in too deep and it’s only you in trouble of getting burned (almost quite literally in this case)

I think In the beginning I really felt for Vanessa – and she seemed to be becoming my favourite character – but as Nina and Zac started to run into problems with their relationship I couldn’t help but want to be with Nina, especially since I was having my own issues and it seemed like what she was going through. I was going through. It was quite bizarre.

It wasn’t long until I realised just who might be behind all the issues in Nina and Zac’s life. I mean part of me thought I had to be wrong but it was there, my gut instinct and you always have to trust that right?

And then we find out the who, the what and the why and my mind was completely blown. I could not stop until the book was finished.

This was an AMAZING read that you DO NOT want to miss out on.

A very quick paced read that I enjoyed.

Nina and Zac really didn't know what they were letting themselves in for when they moved into that ground floor flat on Mistletoe Lane. Chris and Nessa are the neighbours upstairs, but are they really what they seem?

I guessed easily enough who was behind it, but couldn't put together the reasons why until I was right upon that part.

I liked how the ending of each chapter just made me want to keep reading more to find out what was happening.

The Couple Upstairs by Shalini Boland was a quick and easy read however, I unfortunately didn’t find it overly thrilling or suspenseful and although I had guessed the twist, I thought the ending was a bit far fetched.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Shalini Boland never disappoints, and The Couple Upstairs most certainly proves that. Whilst the twist was predictable it was still a fast paced, easy to read thriller, Recommended

Nina and Zac are very likable. Right away you don't like Chris, yet you wonder if you are misjudging him? But there is just too much that just doesn't add up. Shalini has written a book you can totally get connected too. To hope for the best for this couple on their first big move. You want them to have a good relationship with the couple upstairs. Although you know if that was what was going to happen you would not be reading this book. So, let's go conflict!!

Enjoyable book, fast and easy read. I went though it rather quickly.

This was not my favorite Boland book but was still a very good read. It centers on Nina and Zac, who move into Nina's dream house, where she plans on expanding her business. They quickly befriend the couple upstairs, Chris and Vanessa, and Nina has major concerns about them, feeling like something is a bit off. Weird things start happening as well, especially as it relates to Nina's business, and Nina becomes suspicious of those around her. Though the book is mostly told from Nina's POV, there are some chapters authored by a mystery character from a previous timeframe.

This book is a slow burning suspense, but it definitely keeps you reading. I didn't really connect with either Nina or Zac- though they were both well-built-out, I just didn't relate to either one of them. It always bothers me when someone has concerns and their partner doesn't take them seriously. The end definitely throws in a twist that I didn't see coming, though I did think it was perhaps a little far-fetched.

Overall, decent read. I forgot to write a review when I first finished it and had no trouble remembering who was who and what happened, even a couple weeks later, which is always a good sign. Those who like Boland's other books, and the domestic suspense genre in general, should enjoy it. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4/5 stars!

Nina and Zac have purchased the flat of their dreams! Located on Idyllic Mistletoe Ln., Nina and Zac cannot wait to make this beautiful flat their own. But, immediately upon move-in, strange things begin to happen to Nina. The neighbors seem weirder and weirder and it’s soon becomes obvious that someone is out to get the once happy couple.

I thoroughly enjoyed this slow burn, psychological thriller! Although this book is not quite a “page – turner“, the suspense builds to a crescendo and you won’t want to put this one down. This books fits squarely into the domestic thriller category and if you enjoy that genre, you will love this book!

The book is well written, sharp, with a great cast of characters. The dialogue is very well written as well. However, as with most books in this genre, everyone expects a twist and this book is no exception. But often times with twists come some unbelievability.

To fully enjoy a book like this sometimes you have to suspend disbelief and just go with it. Sometimes characters will do something crazy that no one would do but you just have to take it for what it’s worth.

I enjoyed this one and will check out more books by this author. Also special thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre for my advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
