I read this book really quickly. I loved going back to it and found it an easy, light hearted read. Perfect for my holiday!

This is such a great read! There’s lots of holiday spirit without a complete festive overload which makes it perfect for pre-Christmas reading.

Emmy is such a fun character. Despite being the star of a hugely successful Game of Thrones style TV series – she plays Princess Adelina, a frog eating sexy warrior fairy princess – she is able to make fun out of herself and has remained close to her family, particularly her grandfather.

At the beginning of the book she is a bit lost. Her career is faltering after a scandal leads to her character being killed off in the new series and then she receives the news that her beloved grandfather has died. The timing gives her the perfect opportunity to take a break and re-evaluate where she is heading. She heads home and soon find herself swept back into local life.

Meeting up with school friends from her old drama group, she joins the cast of a local pantomime hoping to raise funds to restore the historic theatre in the town. She reconnects with old friends, including her will they wont they school sweetheart Scott. Years earlier, just as it looked like they were finally aligned, she quit university and headed off to pursue acting in London and this is the first time they have met since. Will the sparks still be there?

Or will she fall for Tel, her gorgeous neighbour who is managing the renovations of her grandfather’s former home? Will the new house be enough to lure her back from London.

There are lots of fun characters in this book especially Emmy’s family, the star of which is a very flirtatious aunty who gets into lots of romantic scraps.

Overall this is a fun, heart-warming read that is guaranteed to make you smile.

Oh queen Portia is back with another absolutely gorgeous and spectacular read. Every book is better than the previous book and I am really in awe of how she does it.

This is another book with a gorgeous cover and one that will instantly draw the eye of the reader.

This book is cute, sweet and adorable all wrapped in one gorgeous package. I have devoured this book in one sitting and found that this has been completely enchanting.

I have loved the characters present in this one, especially Emmy Palmer who I have found myself rooting for throughout this one.

This is a magical, romantic read worthy of all the stars. I cannot wait to see what Portia has in store for us next.

A very enjoyable read following Emmy, a famous actress who has a terrible day resulting in her getting killed off on her tv show, front page news about her being a marriage wrecker and worst of all her beloved Grandpa passing away. So she returns home to the family home and here the Christmas fun starts with her agreeing to be in the local panto. Great read

Emmy Palmer is one of the stars of the biggest fantasy series on TV…until she is killed off. After heading home to attend her grandfather’s funeral, Emmy agrees to star in a Christmas pantomime in order to help save the town’s theater. There are two leading men in Emmy’s life - her old flame and her new neighbor.

This was a quick listen, and Portia MacIntosh just writes fun books. It isn’t a traditional romance, but I liked reading about Emmy and her quirky family.

Thanks to @NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my ARC!

Emmy Palmer is the female lead on a hit fantasy series, until a scandal strikes and the show kills her off. At the same time, her grandfather has passed away, who was Emmy favorite relative. Emmy returns to her childhood home to escape the scandal and reconnect with her family and friends. When meeting with her old friends, they persuade her to help out with the local theater that is in danger of going under, so Emmy agrees to star in a show to raise money. Her co=star happens to be her old school crush, Scott, and Emmy is wondering will they or won't they make it this time around?

This overall story was a very cute story, and some of the characters I felt connected to, but overall it felt flat. The first half of the story focuses one Emmy, her family drama and her failing career. She is also less than enthusiastic about working with her old friends, as she feels like this will be the death of her acting career if anyone finds.out. I wasn't able to feel connected to Emmy, which also made this story feel flat. For a successful actor, she can't say no to anyone and gets herself in some cringe-worthy moments (ex: going on a double date with her aunt). The story. does tie up nicely at the the end and she ends up with the right person.

4☆ A Feel-good, Witty Rom Com

Emma has had a really rough ride, killed off the Fantasy TV series Bragadon Forrest, where she was a main character for 6 seasons, then came the scandalous rumour as to why she was kicked out, then finding out her Grandpa has passed away all in less than 24hours.
Things just couldn't get any worse for her.

So she packs a bag and returns home to Marram Bay, to help her Mum and Aunts prepare his funeral, and to lick her wounds whilst she rides out the media storm and figure out what's next in store for her acting career.

But as they say everything happens for a reason, and what lies ahead for Emma is a renovation, a Christmas Panto....oh and did I mention a possible love interest with her Hunky neighbour 😏

Will They, Won't They? Is a Feel-good Romance, with an Endearing Bunch of Characters, Plenty of witty humour and a dash of Christmas Sparkle.
I'm a Big Fan of Portia's books and once again she has ticked every box!

Will They, Won't They by Portia MacIntosh was a delightful read! I have enjoyed Portia's past few books, and this one was no exception. Emmy is a great main character, and her family relationships were great to read about.

I was definitely hoping for a bit more romance, but it was still good. Emmy's family was an absolute highlight, and I loved the differences between Emmy's life in London and her life in Yorkshire. The media drama was a great addition, and even though it was frustrating to read because of Emmy's innocence, it was a great look into the impact of media on celebrities.

There were a lot of support characters, which I liked. I didn't find it hard to keep track of, which can be the case in a character driven book, but Portia MacIntosh did a great job of introducing the reader to each character.

Will They, Won't They is a sweet, quirky, very British rom-com that lovers of Sophie Kinsella and Helen Fielding will enjoy.

The story follows Emmy Palmer, former star of a hit fantasy TV show who lost her job because of some untoward tabloid rumors, as she returns home following the death of her grandfather. Upon arrival, Emmy is thrust back into the crazy dynamics of her family, village life, the restoration of her grandfather's home, and a community pantomime. It was impossible not to picture Emilia Clark as Emmy.

I enjoyed the book, but for people who are looking for an all-out romance, this one isn't quite for you. While Tel is a great hero and their interactions are probably the best parts of the book, Emmy's story is truly more about her relationships with her family and her job, I love how witty MacIntosh's humor is, and the wide cast of characters she brought into the story as well. With that being said, I wish the story was a bit more streamlined in order for Emmy's story to be a bit more simplified--with so many things going on I found it a bit too distracting as a reader and thus didn't fully invest in her story/arc. For example: I could have done without the whole random plot point of Scott's dad....I hated that whole part.

Overall, it's a fun book that comes across more like women's fiction than romance, which will make for a nice fall read!

I enjoyed this book!
I thought this book was a good rom-com though it was sad at times; I won't deny it. However, I felt as if I connected with the main character Emmy, I loved getting to know her and see her development throughout the book. The story was a bit slow-paced but still a good read as there were some parts within the book where I could not put the book down! Overall I liked the plot and thought this was a solid read!

Emmy has matchmakers for aunts. Lmao they were unrelenting. Emmy seemed like an outgoing but sweet woman who was dealt a bad hand. After losing her grandfather and being killed off a show she makes her way back to her childhood town and decides to buy her granddads home and fix it up to sell. Her first love interest is her on again off again high school sweetheart Scott. Then we have Terry who is remodeling the house and just does the most and is a giving person. There is a lot of animosity coming form Scott toward Terry from the start. Terry flirting with Emmy gave me the will to live. I really enjoys this one.

The opening to this book is definitely engaging and fun but other than my immediate connection with the main character, this book took me a little bit longer to get into.

I really liked Emmy. She is fun, caring, very likeable and tends to know what she wants or what is best until the romantic complications begin…

Once the romantic story line kicked in I was hooked. I loved that there could be two possible suitors and the way that the romantic plot line played out.

Overall, there is a warm and charming cast of characters, a significant upheaval, a slow-burn romance and a believable and likeable main character. Portia is also very good at lacing humour throughout the story. A very good and heart-warming read!

Emmy Palmer is the star of Bragadon Forest, the biggest fantasy series on TV, living in a luxury flat in London and with a wardrobe of designer clothes to die for. However a newspaper scandal and the death of her favourite person in the world. Has Emmy returning to her childhood home for some rest and recuperation. But with a family all arguing over their fathers home, she decides to buy it and live there with her memories. Meeting up with her childhood friends and being asked by them to help star in the pantomime,,they are doing to raise money for a run down theatre. A reconnection with her childhood sweetheart via his gorgeous dad opens up a whole host of problems. A man eating aunty who thinks her niece will help her meet the man of her dreams.
Emmy begins to wonder, what has she got herself involved with. This book has you laughing and crying in equal measures, I loved it.

I really enjoyed this book! Its the first book I have read by Portia. I really enjoyed her writing style and I found it really funny.

I like the fact it wasn't the usual sort of like boy meets girl or boy and girl like high school sweethearts you know that sort of thing. I really enjoyed all the backstory all the different characters bought something to story.

For me I think I guessed where it was going quite early on but I like the fact that you are kept guessing until the end. I will be definitely reading more books by Portia cos it's just really really good, such a feel good book!

4.5/5

Portia MacIntosh is one of my favourite chick lit/women's fiction authors- I always know that I will love and enjoy her books! And Will They, Won't They? is no exception. This was definitely a lighter read, and that's what I want. Emmy is lovable and fun, but still has depth, and I couldn't stop reading. Now I am just hoping that we get more books with the secondary characters, because they were also incredibly entertaining!

5 Word Review: Family, friendship, acting, misunderstanding, love.

I needed this book. It was so freaking fun and uplifting. I'd recommend running a nice hot bath, throwing in a bath bomb, and pouring a glass of wine. Then relax into Emmy's excellent story.

I love love loved Emmy. She is so funny as a character, I loved her personality too. Her family conflicts and personal relationships honestly had me in stitches at time. I loved the small scenes that showed the contrast between her life in London and her life in Yorkshire.

The messes that Emmy gets herself into are a hoot. The misunderstandings are many, and only exacerbated by her eccentric family. Her Auntie Vee is really something else.

I liked the added drama of the scandal, but at the same time it made me so frustrated. Emmy just didn't do what she was accused of and it was so unfair that the rumours and lies could almost destroy her career. She is so freaking lovely, she didn't deserve it. That said, without it we wouldn't have moved the story to Marram Bay. I wish so badly that the setting were real, but at the same time I know many places similar. Although perhaps without the tidal island (and the complications it brings).

There was a gently festive feel to this story, especially after half-way through, so if you're looking for something to kick off the festive season then look no further. Will They, Won't They? by Portia MacIntosh is perfect. I can't wait to wander around Fenwick's Christmas department.

Portia MacIntosh is definitely an author I will keep an eye on.
