Yet another great installment in the Rebel Girls series. The selection of biographies was excellent and I loved the art!

Thank you to the publisher Rebel Girls and Netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

'Rebel Girls Champions: 25 Tales of Unstoppeable Athletes' is a book about 25 women in sports, and how was their life and how they became what they wanted to become to, and how they kept fighting for their rights and their dreams. This book encourages girls and shows them that they can be whatever they want, that they are strong.

There are many sports in this book: snowboard, field hockey, soccer, etc.

I found this book a light, fresh reading for all ages, but especially for children. It is a book that I highly recommend!

This book comes out on 12 October 2021! So, stay tuned!

I received a copy of the book by NetGalley but the opinions in this review are my own.

As the rest of the books in the series it’s a joy to discover new profiles of impressive women. The illustrations are once again magnificent. The only negative I have is that a lot of the athlete chosen are American centric and the women selected are also quite young. I’m sure it’s for young girls to identify with current athletes but I feel its a shame to not mention all the great women who came before them.

I’ve loved all the Rebel Girl books I’ve been privileged to read so far and this one doesn’t disappoint either !

The book features 25 female athletes from different backgrounds, each highly accomplished in their chosen sport. We learn a little.bit about each of these successful athletes - and the accompanying graphics are amazing .

Definitely one for the kids in your life , especially those interested in sports

Thank you to Rebel Girls and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC of Rebel Girls Champions.

Rebel Girls Champions: 25 Tales of Unstoppable Athletes focuses on inspiring stories of athletes. The book includes tales of disabled athletes as well as LGBTQIA+ athletes. The book is very up-to-date, including the achievements of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. I always love learning about more amazing women with the Rebel Girls books. These women in this edition are all quite young so for young children they might even be more inspiring.

I really love reading this series with my kids. The selection of athletes is very relevant. My daughter was able to recognize many of them from the Olympics. They've done a great job compiling the stories of a diverse group of athletes. There were many that we had not heard of before, but we enjoyed learning about them in this book.

Thank you so much for the advance copy of this book!

I'd like to preface this with a note that this wasn't fully completed when I read it, as there were place holders for Olympian's and Para-Olympian's that I believe will be added in after these events were finished, before it was published this month however it is a great book.

The picture, set up and laid out information per Athlete, make this a very easy to digest non-fiction biographical book for children. It is bright, and engaging - all while encouraging everyone to follow their dreams.

:) I would have no qualms about buying this or any other Rebel Girl books for my nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with this for an honest review. I loved the stories of the different athletes and the variety of sports that it covered. I loved that they were form a range of countries and that it included Paralympic athletes as well.

I can honestly say I hadn’t heard of all of the athletes but the stories were written in such a way that girls would love to read them as they are quick to read and easy to understand.

This is a fantastic book.. It contains 25 bite sized biographies of athletes to engage and inspire all children. Each biography is accompanied by a beautiful illustration, each by a different artist. There's a variety of women and sports within the book, from all over the globe, and includes both the olympics and paralymics.
It was age appropriate for both my children at 10 and 8 years and the short snappy sections meant they could absorb the information within the book and pick up the book anytime they liked.
We all learnt a lot from the book and really enjoyed the space at the end of the book that let the reader interact by writing their own story, drawing a sporty portrait and even a quiz on what type of champion you are. The training activities were impressive and encouraged the children to put the inspiring stories they'd read into practice within their own lives, gaining fresh air and exercise in the process. I particularly liked the range of time periods covered in the book, from the woman who first campaigned for women to take part in the Olympics, to the women competing in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

It's an impressive and uplifiting book which belongs on any family bookshelf.
Thank you to Rebel Girls, the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest opinion.

Compared to the other Rebel Girls volumes this is a rather short one, dedicated to athletes. As always, the book is very powerful and inspiring, introducing to us several accomplished women from all walks of life. I was surprised to read that female athletes were not allowed in the Olympic games originally. I was part of the generation that already grew up hearing about women participating in the games and it is humbling to know how hard they had to fight to be even able to participate. Perfect read for sportsy kids.

As a kid I was a sports fanatic (and still am), and this is the type of book I would have loved. as a youth I was constantly reading and referring back to my father’s big Encyclopedia Britannica Olympic edition. Let me tell you, Rebel Girls Champions is far more compact than the old heavy encyclopedia and has far more colourful graphics and illustrations. Which brings up one of the great things about this book - all portraits are done by women and nonbinary illustrators – how cool is that! So read one of the bite-size bios a day or read multiple, this book is perfect for reading and rereading.

And of course, I have to mention a few of my faves: Serena Williams (American tennis player), Fluer Jong (multiple sport para-athlete from the Netherlands), and my absolute favourite Bridgette Laquette (the Canadian hockey player from Manitoba).

So many inspiring stories from around the world, and again Rebel girls are showing off their determination, strength and leadership.

Thank you for another rebel Girl hit!

I adore all the books from The Rebel Girls. The stories about incredible girls/women are a pure masterpiece and are so inspiring and important! Especially now, in the world, where little girls are still silenced.

Rebel Girls Champions is a very inspiring set. 25 women in sport who achieve so many because of their determination, hard work, and everyday motivation are a great example that dreams are, indeed, coming true, but sometimes they need a little help.

Of course, there are women who I heard of for the first time ever but there are some well-known as well. Girls from different backgrounds, with many various histories. One is common - all of them dare to follow their dreams and have own way to live their life. That is the lesson I would like to give my daughter and any other girl in the world to reremember.

Looking forward to have it in many languages. To have it worldwide and have a special place on the every little dreamer's bookshelf.

I love this series, and the beautiful stories and illustrations. I feel like it is a fantastic way to celebrate female athletes, but I also feel like many were overlooked, and I wish more time was taken to include other females athletes. Nevertheless, I love these books and can’t wait for more!

This well put together and beautifully illustrated book has been vetted by an eighth grader, a second grader, and their grandmother, and gets a 5 star rating from each of us!
Women in the Olympic games have Frenchwoman Alice Milliat to thank, American Allyson Felix fought for women Olympians in another way, Australian Ariarne Titmus swam her way to the Gold in 2021, Brigette Lacquette grew up in a First Nations town in Manitoba where her dad saw her determination and built a her a hockey rink in their backyard where she honed her skills until she got on the 2018 Canadian Women's Olympic Hockey Team as the first First Nation's player. There are many more determined women who persevered despite ridicule and obstacles and even being refugees from their own beloved countries, and some of them are highlighted here.
Fleur Jong of The Netherlands lost her legs and more at 17 but went on to great heights in the Paralympic Games as a sprinter an in the long jump, and Tegan Vincent-Cooke from Great Britain has won in the Paralympics on a horse despite having Cerebral Palsy.

I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Rebel Girls via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is a book that all young athletes should read, not just those who identify as girls. The stories in this book show just how much good can be accomplished by doing what people say is impossible. It teachers them how to keep going, to ignore the negative people, and look to those who have accomplished their dreams. It also shows them how that can help others as well. I hope this is a book that parents read to their children, both boys and girls, to help them see that they can do anything they set their minds and heart to.

Thank you, NetGalley for the chance to read this book!

I'm still in the hype of the Olympics and Paralympics and because of "Rebel Girls Champions" being a publication so close to them, I missed the presence of some "rebel girls" who were a hit at the event (I'm Brazilian and kisses to Rebecca Andrade and Rayssa Leal).

Anyway, I love the illustrations' styles and the fairy tale atmosphere of each story.

Given the timing of this book following the 2020 Olympics I expected it to just include women who had recently competed. It doesn't, although they do make up the majority of the book, the first story is about Alice Milliat, a rower who was the woman who created her own games for women to rival the Olympics when men decided it was too violent and dangerous for women to compete over 100 years ago.
What follows this is story after story of bullying, set backs and determination. Women being put down for doing what they were born to do and fighting the odds to become the best in the world at their chosen sports. From Brigette Lacquette who's father flooded his back yard to make an ice hockey pitch because there were none locally to Fleur Jong who had to learn to walk again after losing her legs at 17 and went on to break the world record for the 100 metres dash, and the long jump.
This is such an inspiring book. These women's stories, although condensed, brought me to tears many times. Everybody should read this book, male or female, child or adult. You should take inspiration from these amazing women

Champions. There is so much to gain from the stories of sports persons - their drive; their determination; their ability to overcome failure to succeed; their resilience; their strength; their self belief. This book celebrates 25 amazing athletes, champions in their field. Regardless of athletic abilities, my children adored these stories. They were awed at the feats they athletes achieved just by sheer will and determination. They loved the space at the end to write in their own story and the activities that reveal their own strengths. I love how Rebel Girls books leave my children feeling empowered and believing they can achieve anything. Another superb example of positive role models encouraging our young people to reach for their dreams. #rebelgirlschampions #Netgalley

This book followed the same format as the other Rebel Girls books, highlighting different girls who excel in their field, in this case athletes. While most of those featured in this volume are contemporary athletes, it was nice to see a few from the past who acted as pioneers either for their sport or for women in their sport. The variety of sports was really broad, as well as the nationality of the athletes. This is a great addition to the series and I think perfect for any aspiring athletes to take inspiration from.
