This book is wonderful and the illustrations are amazing! I love the concise one page bios of each woman featured in the book. I also really enjoyed that the book included women in a wide variety of sports. I will definitely buy this book for my daughter!

This was a great title I was able to share with my niece who is gaining an interesting in sports about some of the young hero’s in the sports world. We greatly enjoyed learning about them and sharing their facts and stories with her. Very cute for the young girl in your life eager to learn more about young women who are killing it in the sports world.

I love the Rebel Girls books!

This one shows us how sports can have such a huge impact into our lives, inspiring us to find the best versions of ourselves, always trying to be better and stronger than before. I honestly didn't know some of these athletes, but it was amazing to read their stories. Once again, the illustrations are perfect. Highly recommended for young girls.

I love the Rebel Girls series and I think I have read every single book published by them (except for the journals.) If you know the pattern of the books, you already know what this book has to offer. But just in case you don’t, let me offer you a quick glimpse into the three broad types of books from this brand.
1. ‘Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls” – a series offering a one page bio on women personalities from diverse fields and multiple countries.
2. Rebel Girls series: A shorter version of the above series, offering a glimpse in the lives of 25 women leaders from specific fields. Eg. ‘Rebel Girls Lead”, which is about women achievers in business and politics and other modes of leadership.
3. Chapter Books: These offer a biography about one woman achiever per book, with the story going into elaborate details on their life rather than a one page summary. These are about 128 pages long.

This book falls in the second category and brings to you the stories of 25 fabulous women from sports. The Rebel Girls series usually ensures that diversity is taken care of, and this book does so to a great extent. The book includes sportswomen from myriad sports such as snowboarding, pole vaulting, gymnastics, basketball, swimming, bouldering, and so on… (And it includes Paralympics performers as well, a huge plus point!) At the same time, I felt that too many of the stories were from the United States. Surely there are more women sports achievers in the world! Imagine someone like Diana Edulji, a successful woman cricketer from a country that refuses to treat women's cricket at par with men's cricket, or someone like Leila Esfandyari, the Iranian mountain climber. It would have been wonderful to see even more international diversity.

Many of the included bios are taken from the Goodnight Stories books while some names make their debut appearance. So if you already own the Goodnight Stories books, you will find a bit of repetition. But whether the stories are previously published or not, they are as inspiring as always. I especially loved Yusra Mardini’s story; it brought tears to my eyes.

The illustrations also follow the same pattern as always. Each bio is accompanied by a sketch of the sports star drawn by a woman artist. This time, some of the illustrations disappointed me as they seemed more cartoonish than real. This is just my preference but when it comes to illustrations depicting real life personalities, I don’t like cartoonish depictions but a sketch that gives me a glance at the real personality.

Nevertheless, this is still a marvellous book to read and will be a valuable addition to all the little sports-loving girls out there who wonder if they have it in them to pursue their dreams. After all, these 25 women have shown that being a woman isn’t a hurdle but an advantage.

Thank you to Rebel Girls and NetGalley for the ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a collection of stories of 25 wonderful women and their sports achievements. As it happened with the previous volumes of this series, I think these books are really important for little girls who yearn to find female role models.
This is a very well-done volume, especially considering the target audience is children. The illustrations are beautiful and very eye-catchy, and the text is straightforward, only highlighting the most important events of their lives. Perfect for children who are getting into reading, because the attention span that you need for this can be short.
Also I got very excited when I recognised some of the amazing women that I watched at the Olympics earlier this year!

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc of this book. Rebel Girls Champions is the perfect book for any young girl showing interest in sport but is reluctant do to the fact they they are a girl. The stories of all this incredibly talented and driven female athletes are incredibly inspiring, especially for the younger generation. As an older female reader and one who has been surrounded and involved in sport all my life where I feel this book is aimed more towards inspiring younger girls, I still felt myself being in awe of all these women's achievements. This books covers all areas from ethnicity, disabilities and sexuality in such a caring way and gives each little girl out there someone to relate to which I think is so incredibly important in a book like this. I throughly enjoyed this book and it will be one I will be recommending to any young females I come across that show an interest in sport.

This edition of Rebel Girls focuses on women athletes. It is full of the stories successful athletes that will inspire young athletes and girls to pursue their dreams. The collection includes stories of queer women in sports and women from different backgrounds. I only wish that more women from outside of the United States had been included in this edition. Otherwise this was a great addition to the series and the artwork is fantastic.

I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an arc.

My kids and I really enjoyed this book. It was a perfect amount of information per person to get a feel for their accomplishments and who they are. We can always research later if we wanted more details of a specific person. The information kept my 7 year olds attention. She loved that a hockey player was included. It was easy to breakup the reading over a few nights to not overload my kids.

I wish I had a book like this when I was growing up! Truly inspiring for young readers around the world, this collection includes 25 stories of amazing athletes including illustrations by different artists for each one.

Each story is short and to the point with heartening quotes by each athlete. Even if you're someone familiar with most of these athletes, this book is perfect to introduce the young readers in your life to all the possibilities that exist for young kids out there, while introducing them to these incredible athletes, their background and achievements.

It’s great to see more in this series but there seems to be a gap. Most of the athletes are current or very recent with only one from earlier in the century. Sadly this means that many key sportswomen have been left out.

There are a range of sports and nationalities represented as well as some para sports personalities and members of the lgbtq+ community.

I haven’t cross referenced to the other books in the series to see who else has been included previously that seems to be missed out here nor to see if there are duplicates.

Once again, the illustrations are vibrant and the short chunks of text informative and inspiring.

Thanks NetGalley for this Advanced Reading Copy.

Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for providing me this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a wonderfully inclusive and motivational book about women in sports, and I mean ALL sports which includes sky running to BMX. It covers a diverse group of amazing women including para-athletes. I love that the stories do not ignore the struggles of becoming a world class athlete including how some of the women were bullied as a child or called names because of their love of sport. I also love that there is a place for the reader to write their own Champion story!

Rebel Girls is back again with a refreshing book that gives a highly diverse perspective into the world of sports. Telling the tales of twenty-five female athletes from around the world, the book ticks all the checkboxes on the checklist for an educational and inspiring book.

Another beautiful edition of Rebel Girls - this time looking at athletes, the trailblazers and new stars. It is very informative and up-to-date with mentioned both the 2021 Olympics and Paralympics. There is a range of women from many cultures, countries, races, sexualities. As well as focussing on their athletic prowess, the book makes sure to include brilliant athletes who have not won gold - there is never an emphasis on needing to win to be a great athlete, but being great for yourself. I teared up quite a few times when reading, it was a great read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! The Rebel Girls books are the type of books I would have loved as a child and that I hope my future children will love. This was a quick, fun read following the Tokyo Olympics. It highlighted athletes from many different countries and sports, and it featured a few Paralympic athletes. The illustrations were beautiful as well.

In the world of sports who have risen to the top. It details their rise to prominence and achievements in a succinct, readable way. This book is also beautifully illustrated. Rebel Girls Champions is a wonderful illustrated book for young girls looking for a middle grade book about female athletes. All of these athletes are important to their home country. The book even included Olympians from this year such as Sky Brown and Suni Lee, two young girls but already icons.

This book also has a section for the reader to decide what type of champion they are as well as a training time section.

Overall, this is perfect for young girls who are interested in sports. I highly recommend this book for the young sports lover as it also encourages you to keep playing the game you love.

Rebel Girls Champions features stories of 25 female athletes from a range of countries and backgrounds. From football to tennis via skateboarding and BMX, there is sure to be a sport in here to appeal to everyone. One think that I particularly like is the diverse representation of cultures and identities. The book is currently completely up to date, including athletes from the Tokyo Olympics.

This is a book that should be in every school library.

I'm never sure about books that "re-hash" content from previous parts of the series. I don't think books need "best-of" albums. In the Rebel Girls series, I also think athletes already get more than their fair share of the spotlight and so am not sure about the need for a book dedicated to them. In fact, having sporty heroes mixed through with people from activist, artisitic or political backgrounds is a great way to get sports-mad kids reading beyond their comfort zone.

Still love the series though.

Thanks to Rebel Girls and Netgalley for the ARC.
