I really enjoyed reading this book. From the start I knew there would be something revealed soon. It kept me reading until the very end.

A great psychological thriller that will have you hooked right from the start.

Amy has had an accident and after coming round in hospital she realises that she has no memories from the last six months. After a visit from one of her best friends she discovers that she has a boyfriend, Dr Jack Stewart, but she has no memory of him at all.

Amy finds some messages from Jack on her phone so messages him to let him know she is in hospital but she doesn’t receive any messages back. Could she have upset Jack is some way ? Why is he not messaging her ?

A few days later she is on her way to Val D’Isere for her 30th birthday celebrations with friends Lisa & Jenna, plus her mother, Martha. Out of the blue there is a knock on the door and Dr Jack Stewart is standing on the doorstep. Everyone soon falls in love with him but still Amy has no memory of him.

Very slowly Amy starts to have glimpses of the last 6 months and she starts to doubt that Jack is actually her boyfriend. But why would be lie ? How could he know so much about her if he wasn’t her boyfriend ? Everyone thinks Amy is suffering side effects from her head injury but she is convinced that something is wrong !!

This is a great psychological thriller with plenty of twists to keep you hooked. I really liked the characters and loved getting to know Amy more and more as the book went on.

Thank you to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.

This was exactly what I needed on a cold winters day!! Absolutely fabulous! Full of mystery and confusion - we are introduced to poor Amy who is in hospital recovering from an accident which has left her with amnesia! With no memory of anything over the last 6 months / she is relying on her friends and overbearing mum to fill in the blanks! Until her dashing doctor boyfriend turns up on her birthday ski trip! He was meant to be working but managed to swap his shift and wanted to surprise her! Too good to be true …: of course!! But it was so gripping finding out exactly who Dr Jack really was that I could not put it down! I would LOVE a sequel please!! Bloody brilliant!!

This was a really clever psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was fast paced and full of action that kept me guessing throughout... I couldn't put the book down. I really enjoyed the way the book built up to the final climax which was a perfect ending

THE BOYFRIEND - MICHELLE FRANCES: MY REVIEW 📰

Amy bangs her head and loses her memory for the previous 6 months. She's about to turn 30 and is going on holiday with her girlfriends. Recovered enough to go and just take things easy she sets off with the girls only to be surprised by her boyfriend Jack whilst there. She does remember the name Jack, but she made him up to get her mum and friends off her case! So who is the man in front of her? The man who says they've been dating for 3 months and she posted all about on Social media. Is Amy going loopy or did the bang do more damage than they thought..or is this person a con artist.. and if so why?

A different concept I do have to say but quite slow and even the ending didn't do it for me. I prefer Michelle's previous books I'm afraid. But I'll always pick her books up no matter what.

MY RATING: 📘 📘 📘. 5(3.5)..rounding up to 4

This is the second book I have read by this author and I have enjoyed both of them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, although it as a little unbelievable, it was still a very good read.
I loved the setting of the chalets in the snow. perfect for a cosy night in.
Good characters, some a bit bossy and some decidedly shifty, but they made for interest.
Loved it.

I have really enjoyed a number of Michelle Frances' books and this was also a fun and pacy read. Set in South London and the snowy mountains near Val D'Isere, the setting of this book made it all the more wonderful for me (I'm definitely a sucker for chiller thrillers this year!).

However, I felt that the last 15% of the book fell a little flat and I had guessed who Harry was and what he was up to pretty early on, so there was nothing satisfying about the reveal or the ending. But I read it quickly and felt really unnerved by the way in which Amy, who is suffering amnesia after a fall, doubts her own sanity and memories. It really made you sympathise with her and hope that you are never in her shoes!

Amy has memory loss and cannot remember the last 6 months or her boyfriend. The plot is a bit slow to get going and I found that it didn't really keep my interest. The ending of the book was also predictable so I found this book wasn't really for me.

This is my first novel by author Michelle Frances. I did enjoy the story but found it to be slow paced, compared to what I usually read. I found myself skipping text which is not the greatest thing to do when your a lover of books.

The plot is centred around Amy who has had a fall and has some kind of amnesia and can not remember much from the last six months of her life. She can not seem to remember the handsome and charismatic Dr Jack Stewart, whom her friends say is her boyfriend. As we get more into the novel Amy becomes to feel more uncomfortable around Jack, and the question is - is he really as perfect as can be?

The characters in The Boyfriend were not really relatable or likeable for me so I found some of the text quite hard going.

For me this is more of a dark tale than a thrilling phycological, which is my normal choice of read. The novel is worth a read if you enjoy more of a domestic noir novel.

Thanks to Michelle Frances, NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Boyfriend is a psychological thriller set on a Holiday which straight away interested me!  I love books that are set away from home and this one was a chilling read and not just because of the snow!

I really enjoyed this book, it was fast paced and a little dark in places.  The Characters were developed well, but they also left a little to the imagination which really helped with developing theories for what was going on.

Although the book was quite predictable, I thought that the ending was absolutely brilliant! I love a cliff hanger especially when you won’t ever find out what happens as it keeps the tension alive after the book is finished.

I have a couple of Michelle Frances other books on my #TBR and I cannot wait to get to them now!

My first Michelle Frances read and definitely won't be my last!
Amy is trying to regain her memory after a head injury. She's booked to go away for her 30th, has a new boyfriend but all things aren't what they seem to be.

I was hooked! Gets you gripped and want to tear through the pages

A bit of a slow burner, took a while to get into it. The main character Amy has a loss of memory after a fall and struggles to remember the last six months. Builds to a fair climax.

Amy is fiercely independent, with a high-powered career, a flat of her own and tight-knit friendships. But as she approaches her thirtieth birthday, she can’t help but rue the one thing she doesn’t have – a relationship. When Amy comes around following a serious fall, she doesn’t remember anything from the last six months. Not even the upcoming skiing holiday at her aunt’s luxurious chalet in Val d’Isère with her mum and best friends to celebrate her birthday. And she certainly doesn’t remember being swept off her feet by the handsome Dr Jack Stewart. Jack is the full package – charming, caring and devoted to Amy. Everyone is smitten with him, but as the week goes on, Amy begins to find Jack’s presence chilling. Is her broken mind playing tricks? Or is the perfect boyfriend really too good to be true?

This is your classic terrifying situation in a beautiful, remote location, trying to persuade the people around you that you are right kind of thriller. It kind of works but was lacking something for me. Firstly, the setting of the ski resort is fabulous, allowing the reader to be transported to a beautiful, icy landscape that offers the eerie remoteness this book needs, the atmosphere is chilling in more ways than one. The plot is mostly okay but Frances does write this so the reader knows more than the characters and quite early on, I knew what the outcome was going to be. It is always nice to be right about endings but I thought this lacked excitement and could have done with an energy injection. That being said the ending does offer a little something that I was not expecting, I just wish there had been a bit more like that.

The characters are okay, I did enjoy getting to know them but they are not the most likeable group and I was struggling to connect. Amy came across a bit whiny in my opinion, she gets stronger as the book goes on but the earlier damage had already been done. I did enjoy this centres around a group of friends, I could tell they had known each other for a long-time and I got the sense of long-standing friendship and the secrets that come with that.

'The Boyfriend' is an okay thriller that is devious and offers a stunning location. I did enjoy the read but it is not my favourite.

Thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for an advance copy.

A fast-paced thriller that I could not put down!

I loved this book, and while I saw some of the twists coming, I was not prepared for the ending.

After a fall, Amy wakes up in hospital with no memory of the last 6 months at all. Forgetting about her romance with Dr Jack, she assumes they’ve broken up when she doesn’t hear from him.

This book took me a little while to get into the flow. I found it harder to pick up at times.

The dual storyline add interest to the story and how their worlds will collide.

A good read.

Thank you to Pan Macmillian and Netgalley for an ARC of the book in exchange for my honest review.

It took me a little while to get properly into this one but then I really enjoyed it. Although a little predictable I found Amy likeable and it was a fun read

After waking up in hospital following a fall, high-powered Amy discovers she has no memory of the last six months, which includes her whirlwind romance with the dreamy Dr Jack. Realising she has a boyfriend, who doesn't return her messages and hasn't been to see her, she assumes she's been dumped. Despite this, she quickly jets off on a skiing holiday with her Mum (who she can't stand) and who two best friends to celebrate her 30th Birthday.

By this point I was already feeling a little bored. Amy is a somewhat dull and boring character. Yes, she's lost her memory, but that's honestly the most interesting thing about her. Her friends and her relationships with them seem odd, and there's nothing to really get your teeth into.

The dual storyline featuring Harry is significantly more interesting; however, this isn't given quite enough page-play for me. When the two storylines inevitably collide (no spoilers, but seriously, it doesn't take a conscious person to see how this one's going to play out!) it feels very tame and, well frankly, boring.

Nothing about this had me on the edge of my seat. In fact, it was a fundamental struggle to finish. The idea is sound, on some levels, but executed in a way that just didn't make anything remotely believable. We're supposed to believe that a strong, independent woman like Amy would behave the way that Amy did/does? I'm just not buying the ridiculous cliché that all women ever want is a man to complete their lives. I'm bored of it.

Not terrible, but a book I've already partially forgotten.

Great read! Complex characters and great plot. Wasn’t sure where it was going to go to be honest but thoroughly enjoyed it. Great locations and I love a ski themed book. Well worth reading. Thanks for letting me review this book.
