Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This story focuses on Amy, who is a lawyer. One day, Amy wakes up in hospital after banging her head in a fall. She has no memory of the accident or the previous 6 months. She knows she has booked a trip to go away for her birthday with her friends and mum. Amy also isn’t aware that she has a boyfriend, a new relationship started less than 6 months ago. But her boyfriend is not as he seems.

I enjoyed this book. The writing was great, and the characters were great also. But the ending was not satisfying, i really hope there’s another one to finish off where we started haha.
Amy was a great character, really relatable in many ways. Her mum was also really relatable to many mothers across the world. The story was full of shocks and surprises and was really well thought out.
I love this authors work, and look forward to the next one.

I enjoyed this and it did keep me turning the pages even though it was very far fetched at times, there wer unexpected turns but mostly you can see what’s coming and it was quite predictable. An ok read, likeable characters and the - is he her boyfriend, mystery - keeps it going. Thank you to publisher and Netgalley for this proof.

Quite compelling and gripping from the start although ultimately rather predictable. Amy is yet again one of those protagonists who, despite her supposed professionalism and her recovery from her illness, turns out to be rather naive and frankly silly at times.

But on balance I enjoyed this book and want to thank both the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

Amy has a bad accident in February with a head injury that causes amnesia, she has no memories of her life since the previous August bank holiday. Her friend Lisa tells her she has a boyfriend, Dr Jack Stewart, who she cannot remember. She messages him and receives nothing- she’s ghosted. Shortly after her release from hospital she travels to Val d’Isère to celebrate her thirtieth birthday, staying in a house owned by her Aunt Esmé. Her friends Jenna, Lisa and her mother Martha are with her when out of the blue Jack turns up.....

This is a really enjoyable easy to read psychological thriller. It’s well written, with a good plot and a mostly quick pace which makes it hard to put down. The setting in Val d’Isère is excellent, the descriptions are vivid and the February weather conditions give a suitably icy background to the unfolding drama. There are very good though awkward dynamics such as between Amy and Jenna and Amy and her judgey mother, who though she clearly cares can be a pain! Once Jack turns up the dynamics are REALLY interesting! The central premise of Amy’s post head injury amnesia and resulting paranoia is an interesting conundrum while you figure out what’s true and what’s not. Her building dread is conveyed well and it becomes chilling. There are some good plot twists and one is an absolute doozy. The ending is unexpected, I’m not sure if what happens is possible but I really like that it’s not predictable.

Overall, an entertaining and enjoyable novel.

With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Pan McMillan for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review

While The Boyfriend didn't wow me, it was still an enjoyable read if you're looking for something quick to read. It was fairly easy to work out early on what exactly has happened so any 'twists' fell a bit flat, as did the ending which didn't particularly seem very realistic. Generally I found that I had to suspend belief quite a lot while reading as it was all very far fetched. I did think the author wrote Amy really well though, you could really feel her frustration at her situation although she sure went for a lot of naps!

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I like this author and this was very similar to all the others she has written so found that I got a bit bored with it all. Sorry

I really enjoyed this book, it was very easy reading and pulled me in from the start. The only reason I have only given it 4 stars is because it was quite predictable and the main character, Amy, is annoyingly slow at figuring things out.

Essentially, the premise of the book is about a girl who wakes up with amnesia after falling over and hitting her head. She can't remember the last 6 months and it seems that she has missed a lot. Straight away she goes on skiing holiday with her friends and her mum, her boyfriend who she has no recollection with shows up and one of her friends is angry at her for a reason unbeknown to her. Gradually her memories start returning and they don't match up with what her friends have told her.

Overall, i really enjoyed the book and you will too if you like kind of cheesy, easy going mysteries.

This was excellent! Something just a wee bit different with an original storyline. I could see the two storylines were going to converge but didn't know how. Really cleverly done I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

'The Boyfriend' drew me in with an interesting synopsis - Amy, waking up in a hospital bed with amnesia, discovers she has lost the previous six months of her life. She quickly learns that not only is she due to attend a fabulous skiing holiday to mark a milestone birthday, but she also has a fantastic boyfriend! She immediately feels a certain inexplicable frostiness from Jenna, one of her best friends who attends the holidays and as memories begin to return she begins to question the intentions of this mysterious boyfriend she has no recollection of....

I enjoyed this novel and feel it will appeals to fellow fans of psychological fiction. The plot is original and the book is written well to the extend that as the story unfold clever little details take on a whole new significance.

I personally loved how two seemingly unrelated, but equally gripping, storylines intersect - utterly genius!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

Although this was a new author to me I had heard good things about her previous books and was intrigued by the premise of this latest offering.

‘The Boyfriend’ introduces to Amy, a strong independent woman who awakens in hospital after a head injury following a serious fall. She doesn’t remember anything at all from the last six months, including the upcoming trip to the Alps for her 40th birthday and even the excitement of her her boyfriend Jack, who she had met recently. Jack seems like the perfect boyfriend, attentive, doting and supportive but is it all too good to be true?

I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t love it either, it was a bit in the middle for me. I had figured out some twists halfway through and whilst the ending was a little unexpected I did find it fell a little flat when the time came. It is a nice enough read but I feel something was lacking to keep me enthralled as to what happened next.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book, Amy - the central protagonist of the book - Is about to turn 30 and awakes in hospital to find she has lost her memory. Struggling to fill in the gaps, and not remembering her accident, she discovers she has a boyfriend. Is Jack quite what he seems though...
A good thriller - I did see a few of the surprises coming though.

3.5/5
This book was suspenseful, brooding, dark and intriguing. I wasn't sure throughout if the MC was right or wrong and whether her boyfriend, was indeed her boyfriend. Her friends and family cast a decent amount of doubt as to whether the MC was reliable.
I found the book really fast paced and addictive, however the ending was disappointing and left me wanting.
Big thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Slow Creeping Chills….
Amy, short term memory lost following a fall, has doubts about her supposed boyfriend Jack. Jack, who appears the perfect boyfriend. Everyone seems to love Jack. Is he the real deal or he is actually way too good to be true? Slow creeping chills in this engaging, nicely written and entertaining domestic suspense with a twist.

This book really does give you the creeps and is exactly the kind of domestic noir that I just love! I couldnt get through it quick enough and was absolutely rooting for Amy to figure everything out. I won't say if she does or not, you'll need to read it to find that part out. It'll keep you hooked though.

A wild tale of a young woman experiencing amnesia where the last six months of her life is concerned, and her supposedly perfect boyfriend who quickly becomes something else entirely. Highly recommended for all domestic thriller lovers!

I really enjoyed this book, read in a day! It gets straight into the story, you know something isn’t quite right all the way through and it’s quite easy to work it out but it doesn’t stop it being a really good read! I highly recommend this, perfect beach read or Sunday afternoon curled up on the sofa. But I wish the ending had been a little bit better…
Thank you to Netgalley for an advance reading of this, very grateful xx

I could not figure this book out and that is what made it so good, it was dark, twisty and unpredictable.

Amy falls over in the street and wakes up in hospital unable to remember anything about the last six months, including anything about her boyfriend Jack about whom she has some pretty precise biographical details. Rather than check these out, she goes on a skiing holiday with her Mum and girlfriends. Jack turns up. Amy’s memory begins to return in a manner that coincides rather too conveniently with an emerging story of what’s happened in the past. Neither she, nor her holiday companions, do anything much to confirm the most basic of details about Jack preferring to concern themselves with Amy’s paranoia, a medical consequence of her fall. All rather silly I’m afraid.

Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for a fair review

Amy has almost everything in life except a partner, and, turning 30, she really feels it’s time to find someone who she’ll love as much as they love her. But when she wakes up in hospital, not remembering much from the last six months – including a luxury birthday holiday at her aunt’s chalet in Val D’Isere with her mum and best friends – things got somewhat muddled. Particularly when everyone is so chatty about her handsome doctor boyfriend, Jack Stewart. On paper and in person, Jack is perfect. Caring, loving and devoted to Amy, he’s smitten by her and everyone seems smitten by him. Except Amy. Surely she couldn’t forget she had the one thing that would make her life complete? Rather than enjoy her partner with her mum and friends, Amy finds Jack’s presence very unnerving. Chilling, in fact. How will she discover the truth – or is it case that she simply can’t remember?

This was a fast paced and easy read. It was gripping and the plot was engaging however it was completely unrealistic and I spent a lot of my time rolling my eyes. The twists were predictable and the ending was somewhat disappointing. Nonetheless this is a good holiday read.
