Totally unputdownable (is that a word?!)
This was a really well written book and had me totally on the edge of my seat a few times. It was very well written and the story flowed well and I didn't want it to end. Highly recommend.

Now this had to be one of the most intriguing synopsis I have read in quite a while.

This was one hell of a read. Totally original and seriously made me question the whole 'could I do that'?

Alice is an Emergency expert who lectures on how to survive emergency situations. An anxious character who has set herself up to survive any disastrous situation but never fully expecting it to happen.

Now imagine waking up strapped to a gurney. Looming over you is a manic 'Artist' getting ready to chop of a limb! Just as the gruesome process begins there is an earthquake... two disastrous situations in one short space of time.

I love the way the whole story then flipped to the killer being the one depending solely on the victim. Alice shows true grit, determination and strength. The conflicting emotions that Alice portrays came across amazingly, you could feel the realness and it truly made you sit back and question what you would do yourself.

Whilst this massively traumatic scene is taking place, in a sealed room in an unknown location we meet Lucy, another victim of The Sculptor, awaiting his return, will she manage to escape before her imminent death?

There is SO much going on within this amazingly plotted book but it is so well paced you never feel overwhelmed with information, it flows fantastically.

Superb characters, amazingly original storyline and a 'wrapped up with a bow' ending, what more could you ask for?

Huge thanks to Netgalley and Orion Publishing for the ARC.

Simply flew through this book! Fast paced, gripping, highly original and definitely a dark, twisted plot. Being trapped after an earthquake is bad enough, being trapped after being kidnapped.... well, could it get any worse?! Brilliant twist at the end too. Will be looking out for Elle Croft in the future.

My thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for giving an honest review.

I've often read in reviews the line "when you finish, you'll want to go right back to the start and reread". I've never felt the need to do that, let alone write it in a review yet when you finish this book, you WILL find yourself rereading it due to the mind blowing twists towards the end.
I find it so hard to find a good thriller that really grabs me, has me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails but this ticks all the boxes. I'd love there to be a sequel made?
This was my first #ElleCroft but certainly won't be my last.

What would you do trapped after an earthquake with the person that just tried to kill you? Alice is in this predicament and battles with revenge versus survival. An unusual concept but an interesting read. Not the fastest paced and generally keeps you intuigued to find out how everything ends.

A thriller in a league of its own. This had me gripped from the very start. There was no putting it down until I got to the end. An excellent book with a great unexpected twist.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.

How would you react if you find yourself partially buried in a wrecked building in Vancouver with a man who is looking to saw off your arm?

In Buried, Elle Croft's latest psychological thriller, Alice Dalroy finds herself in that precise situation. Elle is a lecturer who advises on surviving dangerous situations and emergency planning. She has delivered a lecture to a group and on her next day off she is on a hike up Grouse Grind a gruelling climb even for someone fit. Sipping coconut water with her friend Celia in the café at the summit she discusses a dream job offer she received after her presentation the day before, involving running disaster planning for the city. The last thing she remembers is trying to open her front door after being dropped at her condo. Then she wakes up strapped to a gurney...

This is a real nerve-tingler and a cracking tale! It has suspense in spades and a thoroughly engrossing mystery element. The shocking ending is the icing on the cake. Very highly recommended.

A special thank you to Orion Publishing, Elle Croft, NetGalley and Pigeonhole for a complimentary copy of this novel at my request. This review is my unbiased opinion.

Buried is one of the most claustrophobic thrillers I have read in a while. If you loved The Dark by Emma Haughton set on an Antarctic research base or the BBC thriller Vigil, this will be for you. Alice makes her living as a resilience specialist. She knows how to survive dire situations and crises and trains others to do so. When is abducted by someone who wants to remove her arm with a saw in the name of art, they are both trapped by an earthquake. It is difficult to know which is the lesser of these two evils but Alice has survival skills to bargain with. In a parallel story, Lucy has also been abducted and is awaiting her fate in the same earthquake. Nail biting doesn't come close, arm chewing off, maybe! The final twists are definitely not what we expect and it ain't over till it's over. More please, I'll never look at Rodin the same again...

This is amazing! It's a definite 10 out of 10. It's superbly dark and creepy and will have you staying up long past your bedtime to get to the end. Possibly not for the faint hearted but it is such an original story line and such a breath of fresh air that you won't be able to put it down

Well I didn't know what to expect from this book and the beginning didn't really grab me. But then it started getting great and I couldn't put it down. Finished in one session loved the ending.

I. was given an advance copy by netgalley but the review is entirely my own.

Alice is in a job where she advises people on how to survive.
Alice is then kidnapped and disaster strikes and she gets buried in the basement of a building with her captor.
The story then gets more interesting as there is another woman who is also buried in another room.
Add to the mix - The Sculptor an artist who uses body parts in their work.
Does Alice make it?
Great read and had me turning the pages to see what happens and no spoiler alert here but twists and turns in the book which keep you turning the pages.

This is definitely not a story for the faint of heart! The main characters’ little trio will have even a brave person spooked, each with their own idiosyncrasies, some deadly ones. A terrific read!

Serial Killer Chiller,
Tense serial killer chiller which is both dark and disturbing. A clever premise which is rewarded in this engaging and immersive read with a well drawn cast and a plot line that is never as predictable as you may at first think.

A fun read.
No one knows who the serial killer is.
Alice has designed her life to be as safe as it possibly can be. She takes no risks, and makes sure nothing is a threat to her or those she loves.
But when an earthquake brings all three together, will anyone get out alive? And if you were trapped with a serial killer, would you protect their secrets to save your own life?
I loved this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me an advance copy.
