Once again Karen Schaler has brought the Christmas season to life. Every time I see a Schaler novel I am sucked in by the beautiful cover design. The image here captures the feeling perfectly of a wintry Christmas in the village of Tolvania.

This is such an uplifting holiday book. It epitomizes everything Christmas is about. Family, friends, love and traditions. The book brought me a sense of peace and joy as I was reading it. The royal family, the cute and adorable princess and her her equally adorable dog all made this a magical story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Absolute stunner of a story. Wow! This was Christmas all wrapped up with love, romance and the promise of a wonderful future. Karen conjured up a picture of Tolvania and its people that was very easy to imagine and wish you were there. It was like stepping off the world for a while and wrapping yourself up in a cosy world of magic and anything is possible.
The story was also about traditions and I will make this my tradition now to read this book before Christmas each year to start my festivities off with a wonderful feeling

This story had me cracking up. Imagine going to do a story on family Christmas traditions and the family are royals. A Prince just may be your Christmas present.

If you love romance, charm and a will they won't they theme, then you'll lap this up. Snuggle up in your pj's, light the fire, hope for snow outside and get lost in the world of Kaylie, a tough New Yorker who is coming to do a piece on the Royal Family of Tolvania. Kaylie has to deal with the prickly Queen and her not so charming son, Alexander and the rest of the unpredictable family.

It doesn't start off like a fairy tale but......

Sugary sweet, I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this book but on a cold winter night, its a lovely read!

A Royal Christmas Fairytale

My first Christmas book of 2021 and it was everything you want in a Christmas book. That gorgeous cover drew me right in.

Kaylie is an investigative reporter solely focused on her career advancement and doesn’t have much of a work life balance. She also doesn’t have time for Christmas or celebrating. When sent on a mysterious assignment, she finds herself in the home (castle) of the secretive royal family of Tolvania. She is tasked with writing a Christmas fairytale filled with the traditions of Tolvania for the young princess. The widowed, handsome prince is not happy to have a reporter in their midst. The village of Tolvania is the epitome of Christmas cheer and traditions.

This was a heartwarming, family centered romance. It is a quick read and has everything you want in. Christmasy feel good book. Traditions, caroling, snow, trees (even upside ones), a Royal ball, crowns, romance and family.

The novel also includes recipes which I am excited to try out for our own holiday celebrations!

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to review this ARC

The perfect Christmas romance. Kaylie Karlyle is an investigative reporter from New York City who loses her job right before Christmas. Her former boss sends her away on a very secretive assignment where she ends up meeting the Royal family of Tolvania, including the handsome prince. Prince Alexander is a widower and father to the adorable Princess Anna. The Queen is perhaps my favorite character of the story. She is on a mission to bring the Christmas spirit back into her family and enlists Kaylie’s help. The author’s detailed and descriptive storytelling makes you feel as if you are right there experiencing everything with Kaylie. The more you read, the more you’ll wish you lived in this incredible Christmas village. This is the perfect book to read with a cup of hot chocolate in front of the tree.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I a voluntarily reviewing it.

I had a hard time with this story. It was a great Christmas story but short on romance. I never felt a connection between these two at all. I may have felt more but the prince's POV was just about 3 short sections. Most of the book was from Kaylie's side. With all of her conflicts there was little devoted to romance.

Break out those tiaras!

There is nothing I love more than a good royal romance novel. The storyline is great with a journalist in need of a job and getting the opportunity to do a story in a small European country only to realize that she hasn't been hired to do a feature story or an expose. She's been hired by the royal family to write a children's book for the young princess by her grandmother and must navigate cautiously through the palace while also worrying about handsome widower Prince Alexander who is less than thrilled that she is there.

The story is a typical Christmas royal romance with a twist I actually didn't see coming in the end. And I hope that this is a series because, for me at least, it definitely got left on a cliffhanger that should be explored if the author so wishes to choose. Other than that, a steller storyline and a must read for royalty fans and Christmas enthusiast. You get the best of both worlds.

This book is appropriate for all ages.

Books like these are like potato chips, but so much better. They’re easily enjoyable and you can read as many of them as you like without suffering health consequences. I love a feel good royal, Christmas romance. I watched “A Christmas Prince” when it came out on netflix, unapologetically, and thought it was great fun. So, when I saw that one of the writers for that screenplay had written books, I was curious to read one, wondering if it would be as amusing as the movie had been (it definitely was).

I adored this one and plan on reading more of the author’s works.

Karen's books have become something of a Christmas tradition for me the last couple of years. Her stories are always lots of fun and full of Christmas cheer. This year's release definitely fits this criteria. I enjoyed this story with a cute storyline, a Royal family with an adorable dog and Kaylie who has lost her Christmas spirit and has become a workaholic of sorts. The story moved well and has a couple of hilarious spots and a few surprises along the way. A sweet Christmas read!

If you're a true Christmas lover, you don't shy away from cheesy, Hallmarky reads. You know there are Christmas books that are made to relax your mind, to inject you with a dose of the carefree, everything-is-possible, Christmas magic. And this is one of those books.

It has a beautiful setting, because it doesn't get better than Christmas in a castle, with a royal family who has hundreds upon hundreds of Christmas traditions. Some of these traditions are described and included to put you in the right spirit, and I thought the author did this very well. It has all the right elements a Christmas book needs: family, snow, food, friendships, a furry bestie, Christmas trees...

This is essentially a story about a Grinch. Well, only metaphorically. We follow the main character, who transforms from being Scrooge to the ultimate Christmas lover, and along the way she also changes her life and her priorities. And she also falls in love with a prince.

The romance isn't really the focus of this story, so don't expect too much in that aspect.

I liked the writing for the most part, but I thought at times we were told more than shown, which I am not a fan of. For example...

''Oh, we went snowballing, it was so good, and then we went in for tea, and the tea was delicious, and after the day was done I felt happy.'' I wish all of it was more detailed and shown. In the same manner, I think we needed to get to know the prince a bit more.

My favourite character was the cute little princess Anna, who was outspoken, funny, talented and brilliant. I didn't really like our main character, I thought she oh-so predictably created a problem, which was expected, but the entire time I was wondering why she was doing what she was doing, when it was directly stated that THAT is forbidden.

Okay, I don't want to spoil anything, and to stop speaking in codes, I'm going to end my review.

Who would like it? Anyone who loves royal families, settings in a castle, Christmas villages, self-discovery, a bit of romance, family time, and needless to say a lot of Christmas.
