I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Roberta Kray starring Viv Anderson who lives in London and gets involved with another trapping men for money. She then gets a job as secretary for a property company and investigates the death of her friend's sister. This book keeps the reader enthralled to the last pages and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystery thriller.

Liv Anderson is street wise, living in Soho in the 1950's where she is involved with Pally in a scam blackmailing businessmen. One scam picks the wrong man with connections to one of the local villains.
As now caught up with having to repay this villain, Liv has to work to pay the debt off.
Story is a page turner and great characters in the book, as the story unfolds.
Would love to read more books featuring Liv.

Liv Anderson can take care of herself and she knows how to make money in a man's world. The daughter of a convicted murderer, she's made her way in one of the roughest parts of London by entrapping men and extorting them for money. But Liv is playing a dangerous game and soon finds herself in trouble with the city's most notorious gangster. Brilliantly written, that kept me hooked from the first page. At times I just couldn’t read quick enough to find out what was going to happen next.

Always love Roberta Kray books and this one was a corker.

Liv Anderson's mum has recently passed away so, to earn a living she cooks up a scheme with her friend Pally to honeytrap businessmen by encouraging them to take her to their hotel room, and then Pally arrives as the angry uncle, vowing to go to the papers and revealing their infidelity to the world, the men offer sums of money to keep them quiet. Because of her chosen path, she is soon having to deal with gangland underworld characters, when she crosses the wrong man.
This unfolds a story of thrills, grit, and danger. It will keep you gripped.

An enjoyable book set in the 1950s, not quite as gangland/gritty as I was expecting but a good story nonetheless. Some really authentic characters.

Liv Anderson is street wise, she has no choice ducking diving and living in Soho, she does pretty well via a scam she has going with a local ‘villain’, setting men up then blackmailing them…..until one day she chooses the wrong man, he has connections and Liv’s life is about to get a thousand times more complicated than it was
Really good, loved the characters ( and what a range there is ) loved the setting of Bygone Soho and the description of the real life that went on there and more than anything I really enjoyed the story, it was a pleasure to read, one of those you looked forward to getting back to, it’s gangland with heart with many sub stories all linking to the main one, I cant write much more tbh other than to say it was a throughly enjoyable read from an author I haven’T read for quite a while,, I hope there is more to come from Liv in the future
Not so keen mind on the cover where to me the pic looks more like an alien than a young woman from swinging Soho, that aside a perfect read

10/10

Roberta Kray never fails to deliver a truly gritty gangland thriller and Double Crossed fits the bill perfectly.
Set in post war London the main character is a young girl called Liv Anderson. Her mother recently passed away and her father was hanged for murder when she was a young child. She and her male friend Pally, earn their living by extorting unfaithful husbands until they run into trouble with a rather nasty local villain who Liv ends up working for.
Lots of twists and turns, drama, deceit, great characters and fantastic storyline.
Absolutely recommend it to all fans of this genre - great read.
Thanks to netgalley for advanced copy.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it certainly won’t be the last!

Liv is the daughter of a convicted murderer and thinks that she can look after herself – and make money - in the murky world of gangsters. She finds herself in trouble with a gangland criminal and has to repay her debt by doing what she’s told.

I was hooked from the very beginning and read this in record time!

As a huge fan of Roberta Kray's books, I can not express my happiness to be able to review this on behalf of Little, Brown Book Group UK. All opinions are my own.

Double Crossed is a gritty, gripping, gangland thriller that is everything and more that you'd expect from this genre. Roberta Kray has the ability to transport her readers straight into the fictional world she creates, alongside a handful of rogue and dangerous characters. I felt like I was there in this story, watching the plot unfold for myself. I found this impossible to put down, and read this within two nights.

Liv is a lovable main character that will prove hard to forget. The writing style made this easy to invest in her story, and I found myself pleading that had a positive conclusion for her.

Highly recommended to all fans of this genre, including those who may be new to these stories. You will not be disappointed!

Liv is the daughter of a murderer and when her mum passed away she wanted to find out what drove her dad to it. Living I'm Soho, Liv earns her money in a cheeky way however it lands her in trouble and means she has to work for Lincoln who works for a local gangster. Liv ends up enravelling more about her dad than she bargained for and also about the murders of people she knows or is associated with.
