I was not a huge fan of this, it was just very slowly paced, and I just couldn't like any of the characters

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

A lovely read, which makes you feel warm and nice. I love Britta and Wes and how they ended up together. Extra points for the plus size representation.

I had 3 main issues with the story:
The first being the pacing, it was a little off for me in places, however for the most part I still liked Williams’ writing style, it was easy to read and kept my attention. Secondly, the side characters. While I did really like Wes and Britta, I found the side characters to be really quite bland and forgettable. Finally it had my most hated trope- the miscommunication trope. That’s a personal preference though, it just irritates me so much.

Overall I liked the book, it didn’t blow me away but it was a quick, entertaining read and I would probably read a book by this author again.

3-3.5 stars

*Thanks to netgalley, the author & the publisher for accepting me to read this one!

Truth be told, I started reading this in November 2021, it's now June & I've only just finished reading it. That's my fault though, I get a little impatient with slow burns. In November I got around 30% the way through then stopped until just the other day where I decided, hey? I'll give that another chance. And I'm SO glad I did. It took me two days to get through the other 70%.

"The Fastest Way to Fall" follows our fmc Britta, who I just LOVED. She is everything you want in a female lead character, and as a curvy girl myself it was really nice to see that representation. Yeah it's a "romance" book so of course there's gonna be a love interest & plotline, but it was great to see that it wasn't the entire focus.

Writing it with both Britta & Wes's voices was such a good addition because we learned to love them as individual characters. About what made them the way they are, before we loved them together.

It was such a cute, feel cute rom-com. Definitely recommend this one.

The perfect feel good read! Britta is excited for the chance to finally prove herself at work when she's asked to write about a hot new body-positive fitness app that includes personal training.
When her training sessions with Wes begin, the pair click immediately. He may be the app's CEO but despite his professional success, his personal life is in disarray and he's enjoying his return to what he really loves - coaching. Loved it!

I love a good slow burn romance and this one did not disappoint!

The body positivity that oozes from this story was so beautiful to read, it’s not often that you read a romance book about a plus sized character and this felt so incredibly refreshing. I adored Britta, the main character and everything she stood for.

I loved the characters development as well as the romance being rooted at the core of the novel, they brought out the best in each other and it made my heart soar.

Cant wait to pick up Williams’ next book!

There are simply not enough words in the English language to describe how much I loved this story.

Britta works for a lifestyle magazine and is aiming for a big promotion, so she suggests a story where she signs up for an exercise app that pairs users with a personal coach and tracks her progress for their readers. She signs up without telling the app she's a journalist and ends up getting paired with Wes, who hides the fact that he's one of the app's creators. What is supposed to be an email-based working relationship between coach and client quickly turns flirty. They're not supposed to meet up in real life, they both know a relationship could spell disaster for their careers, but the pull between them is simply too powerful to resist.

Britta and Wes's romance was so freaking cute and genuine. I had no trouble whatsoever believing these two would fall hard and fast for each other. They're both dealing with their own issues outside of their relationship, and it's in those moments that you can see how they give each other not just the strength to carry on but also a safe place to recuperate when life just gets a little bit too hard.

The heat between Britta and Wes was so palpable, it almost made me afraid my e-reader was going to catch on fire. There was a little bit of fake dating, some white-knighting, and a lot of cautious flirting. They even try to date other people, but they're both constantly thinking about the other person, which I absolutely adored.

Britta and Wes keep their real careers secret a little bit too long, and it's obviously a big hurdle once the truth comes out, but it's handled well and it never really devolves into childish "but why did they lie?" territory like you sometimes get in other books.

These characters are just perfect. Britta is the kind of person I could easily see myself be friends with (her friend group is awesome), and Wes is the kind of love interest I just want to point at and then ask the universe "find one exactly like this for me, okay?"

I was a bit hesitant at first about how this book would handle the whole issue of weight loss and body positivity. It quickly became clear however that I had nothing to worry about. The author makes the point repeatedly that this isn't a story about the kind of airbrushed body positivity we're inundated with online, but rather a story about being happy and healthy in your body and celebrating your strength and confidence, regardless of your size. I'm so happy books like this one exist.

This book was so cute and had great characters. The story is about our main heroine that is reviewing a workout app. Our heroine is plus sized and just want to feel good naked. Our hero is her coach and we get to see them turn friends and to lovers. I’m really happy for how Danielle Williams handled the third act breakup and the miscommunication. Wes’s storyline was heartbreaking and I felt really bad for him. If your looking for a romance book with a plus sized character. I highly recommend this one

This contemporary romance is the perfect slow burn romance with a pinch of realism and body positivity, which is refreshing. The love story between Wes and Britta is very enjoyable, despite the typical romance book miscommunication trope.

This was a really enjoyable ‘slow burn’ romance. The two leads Wes and Britta had lovely chemistry right from the start when they were messaging and it only got better when they met. There were some complex issues in this with Wes’ family history and I liked that we had alternating pov’s which meant we could delve into them properly. My favourite part though was Britta not only falling in love with Wes as part of her journey but also learning to love herself, curves and all. Well worth a read (4 ⭐️)

I really enjoyed this book. As someone who has recently been assessing their relationship with food and exercise it really resonated with me.
I loved our main characters and loved the body positivity with added real ness. I rooted for them and loved watching the story unfold.

Misunderstandings

This contemporary romance offered a serious slice of themes to digest alongside the connection and romance between these two main characters. Britta was a bit of a hero to me, she mostly demonstrated a true love of her own body even though she fell off the wagon on occasion. We see some disordered eating alongside the positive in this story. Wes was her online fitness coach through an app but he crossed some lines.

I enjoyed the storyline for the first three quarters, it was easy to slip into and provided a couple to cheer for. I found the overall tone of the plot to be very body positive in all the ways and I appreciated how the author pitched this without any preach. It was about real, flawed and wonderful humans. I did struggle with the misunderstandings and miscommunications that came a bit later on but I pushed through for a great ending, which I got.

If you enjoyed this author's previous book (like me), we do some some of those characters in the background which was a bonus.

Overall, this was enjoyable with a great depth to the plot.

Thank you to Piatkus for the eARC.

I really enjoyed this story. This is my first by this author but it definitely won't be my last!

This was engaging, endearing, sweet and romantic. I loved the body positivity, I loved how Britta carried herself. Her and Wes are such a cute couple.

This is an all-around adorable read.

BOOK REVIEW : The Fastest Way to Fall by Denise Williams

3.5 Stars
Smut level: 3/5

I was a huge fan of Denise Williams' book How to Fail at Flirting so I could not wait to dive into this book!

The Fastest Way to Fall is a funny, sexy, slow burn romance which was a fun read although it also does have a few more serious themes which were handled very well.
It is about plus sized assistant writer Britta who pitches an idea to review a fitness app in the hopes it helps her career progress. Britta doesn't necessarily want to lose weight but to "look good naked". She gets matched up with coach Wes who is also the CEO of the company (Britta doesn't know this).

I loved Britta's personality and thought it was great that she was so open about her insecurities. Wes is such a kind and caring lead male who is struggling with life and his connection with Britta helps him cope better.
I loved the connection between them and the chemistry was plain to see. My favourite thing was their humour and how they bounced off each other!

I didn't like the amount of miscommunication. I am not a huge fan of that trope anyway but felt this took it to the extreme and that two intelligent adults just wouldn't have let it get so far. It made for a frustrating read.
I also didn't think the big twist near the end was used to its potential. There was a huge build up and then it was a bit of a letdown in the end.
I also don't think the side characters were used to their full potential, although I did like Wes's friends, just wish we had seen them more!

The writing was engaging and the humour is enjoyable and made me want to read on. There was some great potential with the storyline and characters but sadly I just don't think it was brought together in the best way.

Overall, it was a fun read with interesting characters but the story just wasn't as good as I had hoped.

Please note that I was #gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

It is officially 2nd November so HAPPY PUBLISHING DAY!

(Please check tw before reading this)

I have fallen victim for a cute but smutty book with a cute illustrated cover!

I adored this book and all of the messages that it sent! I knew I would love it because of the cute cover and the description.. I loved how the author did not shy away from todays problems and shared them in a way that was really inspiring. It was very modern and seems like this really could happen in real life.

I really sympathised with the main character and love how much she grew in herself despite that not being her original plan.

This was a little bit slow with the two love interest not actually meeting and then basically feel hard for each other rather quickly but I really did the connection they had, the banter. I loved how it had my favourite tropes (one bed trope and sort of -fake dating.

This was such a fun and easy read with some moments where my chest ached!

I will definitely be purchasing his to add to my bookcase of cute contemporary romances!

Thank you netgalley and Denise Williams for allowing me to read this book! I will definitely be reading more of the authors collections!

TW: Disordered eating and exercise. Conversations about weight. Drug and alcohol abuse.

Review Time! Let’s talk about The Fastest way to Fall by @nicwillwrites 📖 This comes out TOMORROW (2nd Nov) ✨

SUMMARY: This book follows Britta a plus size, Black, aspiring feature writer and Wes the owner of fitness app FitMi. When Britta gets the chance to write her first content for Best Life she couldn’t be more excited. The job is to sign up to FitMi and give readers the scoop on the fitness app. Wes is in a funk and decides to get back into coaching. Cue some romcom magic and Wes selects Britta as his client not knowing she’ll be writing about her experience. What will they do when they develop feelings for each other?

MY THOUGHTS: First let me thank the author for including content warnings at the start of the book! 👏👏👏 This is a romcom and the banter between Britta and Wes is off the charts but there’s a lot of really tough emotional stuff happening for both main characters too.

This book genuinely touched my heart. While Britta is generally happy with herself and her size we see her stumble and slip into some dangerous habits after an event that upsets her and dents her confidence. It doesn’t last for long and the character doesn’t struggle with an eating disorder but the slip into disordered eating and exercise was there and it was written so well. This was the first time I read about a character struggling with these issues and it made me feel seen.

The romance was a perfect slow burn with some open door shenanigans closer to the end. The chemistry between Britta and Wes could set the page on fire! 🔥 Also, THERE WAS ONLY ONE BED! I love that trope and it was executed beautifully here.

I gave The Fastest way to Fall 5/5🌟and now I need to go and read the author’s other book How to Fail at Flirting. Thank you @littlebrownbookgroup_uk for letting me read a copy of this through @netgalley in exchange for an honest review. #TheFastestWayToFall #NetGalley #DeniseWilliams

I have no notes. This was such a fresh take on the body positivity angle we've seen in recent years, featuring a fat protagonist who undertakes a fitness journey not to lose weight, but to feel better. I LOVED the message! It was written with purpose, but that didn't detract from the romance storyline in the slightest. In fact it only added to it, as the male lead here is her fitness coach, the gorgeous and caring Wes. Their chemistry even before meeting face to face leapt off the page, and immediately had you rooting for them. The 'I want you but I shouldn't' trope is *chef's kiss* and the novel is written in dual POV too, so it really allows you to see the tension from both angles 🥵 Beautifully written build up of friendship to something more, It really captured all the little moments of falling in love so perfectly. I also loved seeing inside Wes' head about his motivations for the app, it was so great to see these topics and other hard topics being handled so seamlessly and effortlessly in such a light-hearted book.

Highly recommend to EVERYONE to pick up ASAP, you won't regret it!

A nice funny book which makes you feel good. Well written and good for a Book Club read. I’d definitely recommend it for a nice good read.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
