The third book in a series, but not one where you have to read the others first.

This is enjoyable, yet not absolutely captivating. Light enought to pass the time, decently written - but lacks the factor that sweeps you breathlessly through each page.

Eh, mildly entertaining and an easy read but entirely forgettable. Felt we never really found out enough about the male love interest, and the protagonist came across as quite immature over her initial dislike of him, and nothing else really seemed to happen in the book? Also at the end I was reminded this whole thing takes place over a single weekend or something which is not enough time to play out enemies to lovers imo.

Meg Cabot and her books have been in my life for the past twenty years, and in all that time she hasn't disappointed me once. I just know that I'm in for a good time when I pick up one of her books.

Jo Wright has only one condition for attending the first-ever Little Bridge book festival: her nemesis Will Price, who lives on the island, can absolutely not be one of the other guests. So after her agent confirms that he definitely won't be in attendance, he won't even be on the island at all, Jo agrees to attend. But then she lands at the local airport and pretty much immediately runs into Will. Jo is determined to have as little to do as possible with Will, but he keeps popping up all over the island, and he seems genuinely sorry for the wrong he has done in the past. Jo, also dealing with a major case of writer's block caused by Will, doesn't know what to think. Will does seem like a changed man. But how well does she actually know him?

This was such a cute enemies-to-lovers romance. Although the main character sometimes comes across as a little bit childish, with the constant cat-related puns, she's also dealing with a lot of stress. Throughout the book, you can almost feel her begin to relax more and more the more time she spends on the island. Of course the obvious chemistry between her and Will also helps a great deal.

The antics of the other characters took up a little too much time in my opinion. I'd rather have seen a more thorough exploration of Will's situation, especially since there's also his younger sister to consider. I felt that, for the amount of commonality there was between Jo and Will, their conversations about their past were rather superficial.

Despite taking place in January, this story had a lot of summery vibes thanks to the Florida Keys setting. It oozes small-town charm, and the island does feel like a magical little place. The story is maybe a bit heavy on the cheesiness and, again, the endless cat puns became a tad annoying after a while, but it's also the perfect "nestle down into the couch with a blanket and a mug of hot chocolate for an afternoon" book.

when I read the description of meg cabot's new book, it reminds me a lot of beach read (which i have yet to read) but funnier, because i know meg writes rom coms.

despite that, going into this, i became less and less interested in the plot and romance, which was rather disappointing because i had expected to enjoy this book very much. that said, i really love the banter between the characters.

thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the e-ARC.

This is the third book of a series, and I don't necessarily think you need to have read the previous two to enjoy it. I've read the first but not the second and didn't feel out of place.

I didn't really see any chemistry or connection between Will and Jo, but it can be hard to see that in an enemies to lovers romance.

Initially, I thought there was a big Beach Reads vibe from this, and I think I would have liked something that leaned there a little more.

This is an easy read, great for a sun holiday.

An easy read, a fun and entertaining rom com that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Meg Cabot is an excellent storyteller and this story is full of humour and features likeable and fleshed out characters.
A perfect read for a lazy afternoon.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

this was a really quick read for me & i loved the characters and chemistry between the two. i would really like to read more from this author and see what else they have to offer, as although i enjoyed this, it did feel like there was something missing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this romp on an island during a book festival. Sweet and easy to read. I might have preferred a bit more colour to why the hero had feelings for the heroine, and the HEA was a little light, but overall a very enjoyable book. Not spicy enough for me to have bought for myself, but that's not this writer's demographic. Thumbs up.

I loved this book! The characters were loveable and the writing style was just what I needed to read at the time. Would definitely recommend!

This was a quick and easy read. I really liked the setting of the book festival and all the different authors coming together. Jo and Will had decent chemistry and it was interesting to see the initial frostiness/ awkwardness thaw as the story progressed. I would have liked an explanation for why Will criticised Jo’s books/writing though as this was not fully explained. Otherwise an enjoyable read 3.5 ⭐️)

What a lovely sweet story that can be read by women of all ages from teens to grannies, laugh out loud in places and great beach read.

Set in sunny Florida, Jo is at a book festival alongside her fellow Author/nemesis Will, but is he her nemesis? They soon discover that the words that mean the most are the ones spoken not written.
This is my first book by Meg Cabot and I will definitely be reading more of her work! Thank you for this eARC, I needed a bit of sunshine.

I absolutely loved this book! The things Jo says and thinks are so normal, and like any of us would do, that it just makes her so likeable. I liked the fact it's a clean romance, and would be happy to recommend it to the teen daughters of my friends, as well as their mothers, as I feel everyone would enjoy this story. Highly recommended!!

Welcome to Little Bridge, one of the most beautiful islands in the Florida Keys, home to sandy white beaches, salt-rimmed margaritas and sizzling romance . . .
Jo Wright always swore she'd never step foot on Little Bridge Island - not as long as her nemesis, bestselling author Will Price, is living there. Then Jo's given an offer she can't refuse: an all-expenses paid trip to speak and sign at the island's first ever book festival. And when she finds out Will won't even be on the island, there's no reason to refuse.
But when she arrives on Little Bridge, Jo is in for a shock: Will is not only at the book festival, but seems genuinely sorry for his past actions - and more than willing not only to make amends, but prove to Jo that he's a changed man.
Things seem to be looking up - until disaster strikes, causing Jo to wonder: do any of us ever really know anyone?
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book. Its not very often i am lost for words but this book leaves me this way unfortunately. I appreciate it is the third in the series and perhaps my enjoyment would have increased had i read the first two? But this was ok. It didnt leave me desperate to finish it or keep me awake as i couldn't wait to see what happens next, in fact i shelved it to read the latest by Simon McCleave and came back to it. It was enjoyable in places and laugh out loud in others but that didnt make up for the blandness of it for me (Sorry)

Unfortunately this is a DNF for me at 35%. For what I did read, 2.5⭐️.

I was a massive fan of Meg Cabot when I was younger and was excited to read some of her more adult work.

I really liked the idea of this enemies to lovers rom-com between rival authors on a small, sunny island, but the language used and the pacing of the book was just totally off for me and I couldn’t connect.

Our leading lady is the author of a hit series of children’s books about a teenage cat who gets up to all sorts of adventures. Innocent enough as a side theme to the book but it just seemed to totally take over the actual storyline and when phrases like ‘what in the whiskers’ and other cat related puns were used seriously by the lead, I just had to accept this wasn’t one for me.

What I did read was light hearted and fun and I’m sure it’s absolutely the right rom-com for some people but unfortunately it wasn’t for me.

What I knew about this book going in: enemies to lovers, about two authors and set in the Florida Keys.

What I expected: something along the lines of Beach Read.

What I got: Disappointment.

Let me quickly summarize this book for you: Jo and Will are both best-selling authors. Jo is a 32 year-old New Yorker who writes children books about a teenage cat who has exciting adventures while babysitting kittens. Will is British, kind of reclusive, and writes Nicholas Sparks kind of books. Jo and Will meet at Novel Con and seem to get along quite well. Will then says some not very nice things about Jo's work to the New York Times. A year or year and a half after that, Jo is invited to a book festival in Little Bridge Island. She doesn't want to go because that's where Will lives but they offer to pay her 10k and her agent promises Will won't be there. Of course, Will ends up being there and he seems to be very sorry about the whole New York Times situation. They spend some time together and you know how it goes.

What I liked: The whole group-of-authors-at-a-book-festival vibes was cool and something that I hadn't read about before. I liked how they all fit together, as different as they all were.

What I didn't like: The romance (which was kind of the point). I didn't connect with any of the characters and I just didn't really care. I didn't feel any attraction or angst or anything between Jo and Will and didn't really see the enemies part of the enemies to lovers, to be completely honest. I get it, he said some stuff about her work to the New York Times, but then it never occurred to him to apologize? They never talked again? At the Little Bridge he's really sorry and wants to make it up to her, so there's no real enemies here, it's rather more of a misunderstanding. Also, they just met each other that one day at Novel Con and then the festival at Little Bridge is 3 days, so it was kind of insta-lovey too, which I'm not a fan of.

Overall, it was a cute, quick read but forgettable. 2.5 stars

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Little Brown Book Group UK for the advance copy of No Words by Meg Cabot.

This story is a light and fun enemies to lovers rom-com set in the idyllic 'Little Bridge Island'. Our main characters are Jo Wright and Will Price both famous authors with a history. After being invited to the Little Bridge Island Book Festival Jo makes it clear she will only attend if Will Price is not there!

However this doesn't quite go to plan, not only is Will there but he is hosting the festival! How will Jo cope with seeing the man who mocked her work to the world!?

While I haven't read the other titles in the series this was a sweet summer beach read and easy to follow as a stand alone. I really enjoyed the premise of the book as I am a massive fan of the enemies to lovers trope, however at times I felt like the story did not quite know what age range it was aimed at.

Going into the book I felt it was more of a New Adult romance, however our main character often makes references to her book series Kitty Katz through random cat phrases. While the characters book series is clearly meant to be aimed at a younger age range in the story, I felt this made Jo seem a lot younger than just believe her character was intended to be. This I struggled with throughout the book.

However overall it was a quick and easy read, cat phrases aside this book is perfect for fans of Meg Cabot and for those readers who just aren't quite ready to let go of summer and want to extend their beach reading list.

Description 🔖

Jo Wright is a successful author but her career has taken a bit of a downturn. After a rivalry with another author, her creative juices aren’t flowing and her finances could do with an injection. She’s invited to a book festival on Little Bridge Island with a handsome fee to go with it. Except Little Bridge is the very place she doesn’t want to go. Will Price her rival author lives just off the island and she doesn’t want to risk bumping into him.

When Jo’s agent confirms that Will won’t be there, Jo agrees to attend the book festival. However the contentment of knowing she will be spending time in paradise doesn’t last long. She bumps into Will at the airport and learns that he will indeed be in attendance for the whole event. Jo plans to spend her time in Little Bridge making Will pay, but not all plans work out the way we want them to.

General Thoughts 🤔

It was lovely to go back to Little Bridge (not that I left it too long ago). I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to visit this fictional island, it sounds wonderful. Not only is it paradise but there is always some kind of entertaining drama unfolding.

This third book in the series was again about a new set of characters but the old characters still have small cameos, giving the series a nice thread of continuity.

I enjoyed the romance that developed in this book. It’s a story that all of us are familiar with; two people who initially think that they cannot stand each other who end up falling in love. It’s a classic but always works and I had such a lovely warm feeling when the penny dropped for Jo and she started to let her guard down around Will.

Characters 👫👬👭

I really liked Jo’s character and thought that she was relatable and fun. She was blinded by her “dislike” for Will to a point where she wouldn’t allow herself to see the positives in him, even when they were right in front of her face. I’m sure a lot of women have been there before in their lifetime. I also really enjoyed her friendship with Bernadette and thought they made a funny pair.

Kind of a background character; but I loved Saul. I thought he was adorable. He was a very well established author with a lot of books and years of experience but he was sweet to all of the authors at the festival and didn’t carry an ounce of arrogance. He and his wife really tickled me and I thought they were a great addition to the group visiting Little Bridge.

Writing Style ✍️

Like the previous books in this series, No Words isn’t written in a way to be have readers on the edge of their seat or trying to guess what’s coming next. It’s unashamedly easy going and fun entertainment and I think that it definitely served it’s purpose.

Conclusion & Scoring 🎖️

If you’re looking for something to read to escape from life or just to keep you entertained for a short time, then I definitely recommend this book along with the previous two. They can easily be read standalone but it’s nice to get a feel for Little Bridge from the start. I’m really glad I got into this series and this third book hasn’t made me want to stop reading. I sincerely hope that I get to make a fourth trip to Little Bridge in the near future.

Usually I wait to write a review so I can let my thoughts settle., but this book took so long to read that i've had more than enough time. This book was so disappointing. I read Meg Cabot's books when I was younger and I was so excited to read her new adult romance but the whole thing felt childish, unbelievable (even for the romance genre), rushed and just plain bad. The main character was so annoying, jumped to conclusions and always had a self righteous attitude even when she was proved wrong, constantly accusing other characters of things that she has very little to no proof of. The main love interest was a shell of a character, no real fleshing out except the usual tragic backstory which is unloaded onto the main character without any trust built between the two. We are expected to believe that Will (the love interest) has basically been in love with Jo since they met (which they've only met briefly once before by the way) and there's this weird notion floating through the book that the female character of Will's new romance novel is based on Jo, so much so that we get pointless excerpts of his book littered throughout the story. Also, we get it, they're writers but you don't need to make their books their whole personality. Jo's constant use of cat puns and lines from her book made her seem even more childish and just insufferable. This did absolutely nothing for me and I won't be checking out anymore adult fiction from Meg Cabot as if this book is anything to go off, her writing style does not lend itself well to this genre.

I love a good enemies-to-lovers trope and this is one of my new favourites. This was my first foray into Little Bridge Island and I loved every second without feelings like I was missing out on anything. I need to go back and read the first two books in this series!
