Best-selling author Will Price is high on the list of people Jo Wright can’t stand after he makes derogatory comments about her own writing for children. Jo is booked to attend a Writer’s Festival in Florida and the £10,000 dollars she’s offered to attend are quite a lure…but when she learns Will is also attending she is not looking forward to things.
From the outset it’s evident that Will is attracted to Jo, and of course he gets under her skin in the way that indicates she is going to be falling for him eventually.
The story follows our group of authors during the festival as they talk about books and find out that, sometimes, our first impressions can be off. Some of the characters are irritating, but the book talk was entertaining.
This works fine as a stand-alone book, and though the endless focus on Jo’s writing about a cat irritated me, the book as a whole swept along fairly quickly and things ended up where you expected.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this prior to publication.

This book follows Jo, an author who writes children’s books. However another author plagiarised her work and the work of another author, Will. Will writes adult fiction and was interviewed by the NY Times about the plagiarism scandal, where he then insulted Jo’s work. Because of this she hates him.

Jo is later invited to a book festival in Little Bridge Island where her enemy Will lives and is also attending the festival.

I found Jo was quite annoying to begin with, her hatred for Will was way over the top. At one point he apologised for what he did, mentioning that he wasn’t in a good place mentally at the time of his NY times interview. When she learned this, Jo wanted to find out what bad thing happened to him that put him in a bad place and in that same chapter then got annoyed at the other authors of the festival when they started talking about her private life. Girl stop being a hypocrite.

We don’t get a lot of interaction between Jo and Will until after the 50% mark so I found the first half of the book a bit on the boring side. And even then, when Will is a more prominent character, he and Jo don’t interact as much as I thought they would.

For a romance book, I think it lacked quite a bit of romance!

Thank you NetGalley for providing the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Send all the writer romance books my way, please. I love anything that gives a little peek behind the curtain into the writing world, and this was an adorable romance. I absolutely loved the setting; this was my first book in Meg Cabot’s ‘Little Bridge Island’ series and it was such a charming place. I can’t wait to go back and read the rest. The sun, atmosphere, and general feel the author created made this the perfect read to put you in a good mood!

I always enjoy enemies to lovers, and this one didn’t disappoint. The chemistry between the two was perfect, and I was immediately drawn in to Will Price’s world, as was Jo. Even when she didn’t know it yet ;) The chapters of Will’s book that intersected the chapters was a brilliant move, and was a really interesting way to show another perspective. I was a liiittle disappointed by Will’s ‘’big secret’ though. It was a little anti climatic for me, but it did the job.

If you are looking for your next read after Beach Read, defiantly pick this one up!

3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a cute rom com. It’s an enemies to lovers plot which is my favourite! I’ve not read any of the previous books in this series but found it ok as a stand-alone. Would recommend for all fans of rom coms.

I am a hugeeee Meg Cabot fan. I have been ever since I started reading her princess diaries books way back in the day. I was so delighted to receive this book to read I believe it is the third one in a series. No words was a great story between writers Jo and Will and while they didn’t get off to the best start it was fun watching their romance bloom over the course of this one! Meg had a great writing style that you really feel a part of the character, storyline, and setting. Her books are the first ones I go to when I need a comfort read!
