I was very intrigued by the concept of this short story collection, but sadly it didn't live up to my expectations.
Some of the stories were ok and some I didn't even bother to finish...

Interesting experiment, but not for me.

Really didn't find anything I particularly enjoyed in this collection, though if you like a host of different styles then this will presumably hold some interest. I wouldn't go for it if you're after a collection of raunchy tales as it's definitely not a compilation of those.

While overall this is an engaging collection, elements of it didn't always quite work - particularly stories of very different styles and themes next to each other, which didn't quite make sense and meant the collection lacked a cohesive approach.
I would also mostly recommend this to readers who are aware of the majority of the authors - I think a key part of enjoying this is knowing the authors are anonymous, but as I was not previously aware of the majority of those involved, it had quite a strange feel.

Overall I'd recommend this to readers who already read this genre (which I typically don't) or to those who are aware of the majority of authors.

This is a wonderful book. As noted in the introduction, it's more a collection of stories around the idea of sex than straight up erotica. Some of it's steamy, some if it's anxious, some of it's awkward and weird and transcendent and funny. Using sex as a starting point, the stories explore every aspect of humanity and they do it beautifully. As with any anthology, some stories I prefer to others, but overwhelmingly they are brilliant and almost every one contains something to love. It's also quite clear that these are all by incredibly talented writers, whether or not you're familiar with them.

I think what the editors have done is masterful. They've created a book that no-one can read without recognising themselves at least once, and being seriously challenged at least once, whether that's due to the actions or thoughts or form of the stories presented. I have to say I think my favourite was the amazingly weird sci-fi heavenly dimension story, which was truly original and a completely absorbing read. Huge thanks to NetGalley, the authors, editors and publishers for this one. It was a real treat.

What an interesting and raunchy read! Totally different to what I normally read but was intrigued and it didn’t disappoint!

A varied, interesting short story collection spanning a host of genres, sexualities and experiences around sex. As many of the stories are extremely different from one another, it was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of which stories I enjoyed and which just weren't for me, and I assume this would be the case for most people.

However, there definitely would be a story in here for everyone! It's something completely unique and worth a try if you're looking to spice up your shelf with something fresh, sexy and quirky.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the EARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a very interesting concept - 27 erotic stories written by 27 well-known authors that were gathered during the pandemic, these stories offer what many wanted at the time which remains true right now: a break from monotony and every day life. By having the authors identities hidden, you don't know who wrote what which ads to the intrigue and piques your interest.

As other reviewers have outlined, it did try very much to stay in the 'high brow' category which came across. It also meant that there was very little cringe involved in the whole process. This is a great book to have in your night stand when you want a bite size moment away from real life. Some of the stories are teases, leading you to the edge and leaving you there. Where as there are others that are very primal and the sex is animalistic.

I recommend taking your time with it. There's a lot of interesting topics like the use of modern concepts (releasing consentual porn to known groups). I enjoyed that the vast majority of the stories were explicit with their views of consent. I would read it again.

I think the concept of this book was really interesting; a number of published authors, each anonymised, writing a short story that is in some way about sex. The results were predictably variable; some cute, some bizarre, some pushing the boundaries…

I did like the short story format; it made the book easy to dip in and out of. However I was really disappointed to see a distinct lack of representation within these pages, being clearly catered for the vast majority towards cisgender heterosexuals.

Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for this proof

I really like the cover of this book, and that was about it. To be fair this is not my usual read My best friend insisted I read it only made it through a few stories. I don't think I am the demographic.

This is a super intriguing concept - 27 erotic stories written by 27 well-known authors, but their identities are hidden so you don't know who wrote what. Unfortunately, as is probably inevitable with an anthology of stories about something as subjective as sex, the scope and variety here means that a lot of the stories didn't really hold much appeal. I think some suffered from a need to appear as intellectual and high brow as possible, and while others were much more successful, I think this is more of an interesting experiment than anything.

This was disappointing. I thought it’d be right up my street but it was dull; there were only a couple of interesting stories. Such a shame.

Giving this a generous 3 stars because the six or so that worked for me were really good. Overall, disappointing and not up to the standard of anthologies I’ve read compiled from open submissions.

A book of 27 short stories, each by a different author.

Didn't tickle my fancy! Yes they are short, but some without context and fell a bit flat. very not very varied either.

sorry this one was to for me, but thank you for the opportunity!

Whilst an interesting read it could of been more diverse as most stories were heterosexual based. As with any book made up of short stories there should be something for everyone. There will be stories that some enjoy whereas others will not. Each person's experience will be different on reading it.

Some brilliant stories in this collection. I am really enjoying all the different styles. Great idea to get such a range of writers writing for this genre.

It was such a good read and I loved every single bit of it.. some stories more than others!! It’s such an interesting concept and I’m so curious about what author wrote what story.. but I guess we will never know 🤪

27 Authors. 27 Stories. No Names Attached. A bold collection of stories about sex that leaves you guessing who wrote what.

Isn’t this the most interesting premise ever? I was so looking forward to this one.

I normally don’t read short stories but I felt like the format of this book would work perfectly for the subject matter - explosive bursts, punchy and exciting.

However I was wrong. I found this SO boring and was completely underwhelmed sadly. Maybe the short stories actually didn’t work, because there was no real context around the sex? I dunno, it just fell flat and was a total chore to read 🥱 shame!! To tell the truth, not one story stood out that I can remember now.

Maybe short stories just aren’t my jam 🤷🏻‍♀️

Have you read this one? What did you think?! I’m so intrigued to hear if others feel the same, or if there’s anyone out there who enjoyed it? 🍆

These set of stories are unlike anything I've read before. The first one hooked me in and I wasn't able to put it down!

I was so excited when I heard about the premise of ‘anonymous sex’, what’s not to be appealing about it? The mystery of who wrote what, (plus obviously the amazing assembly of authors that came together for this) & most importantly the content of the stories (we all love a hot & steamy story). I was so desperate to get my hands on a copy to read and I was so thankful to have been approved for this review copy.

The book felt almost like a tease, it flipped the switch on in me several times and would you give you some steaminess but not all, leaving you wanting more. Personally, I struggled with it. Some of the stories felt a bit too out of my comfort zone; the second story was the first introduction to sci-fi/fantasy I’ve ever come across which unfortunately made it clear that’s it’s not a genre I can get behind. I think this will be a collection of stories A LOT of people will absolutely love & come back to, but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me.

A great mix of stories so something for everyone. I loved the different mix of genres and preferences so you can dip in. And out depending on what you are after.
