Having read all, or at least almost all, of David Baldacci’s books, this latest one did not disappoint, although the ending was perhaps a little too predictable.
But, with this author you know what you are going to get and despite the ending, it didn’t disappoint.
Recommended as always.

Atlee Pine is searching for her twin sister Mercy. Whether she finds her and what happens next is up to the reader to find out, but the reader is in for a treat. This is page turner and a gripping novel that keeps the reader hooked all the way through, at least, that was my experience. Highly recommended.

Mercy has been imagined so many different times in my head, that it was a surprise to read how she actually looked. I also had certain expectations of her character. I was right on some, wrong on others. Somehow though, I knew all of the errors were mine and not the authors, as he wraps up the previous four books, puts a bow on it with this volume and, just when you think it is ending, stands it on its head and grabs you with a whole second half, the culmination of which had tears streaming down my face. Tears that might have been of shock, laughter, melancholy, fulfillment or for many other reasons and I don't think I can tell you why, without showing the ending.

A really superlative book from a writer in tip top form.

David Baldacci never disappoints, his books are gripping, hard hitting and unputtadownable! Agent Pine brings a steely softness to some of Baldacci's more hard-nosed characters - I very much enjoyed this story as much as all his others. Many thanks.

I’ve been a fan of FBI Agent Atlee Pine since the first book in the series and was therefore excited to see that “Mercy” picked up where the last book finished. Finally Atlee might get some closure and find her long lost sister Mercy.
We meet Mercy quite early on in the story and for two thirds of the book the two sisters are still apart with the reader wondering whether they will ever meet.
There is a lot going on in this book and in my opinion it would be very useful to have read the previous novels before embarking on this one. The author does fill you in but the enjoyment is greater if you are aware of Atlee’s background as I was.
The plot was very compelling and really held my attention right from the very first page. Although twins, Atlee and Mercy have not seen each other for 30 years it seems that they are similar in many ways and both possess an athletic nature and an innate sense of right and wrong.
David Baldacci develops both characters very well and the reader is soon desperate for them to get together and overcome all the obstacles put in their way including a mad gangster who wants Mercy dead!
My only sadness would be that this is probably the last book in the Atlee Pine series as most of the loose threads are resolved by the end of the novel.
This is definitely a five star read for me and I would recommend this and the whole series to readers who enjoy action thrillers, particularly those with strong female lead characters.
Thanks to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for my arc in exchange for an honest review.

My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Pan MacMillan for the ARC.

Well, David Baldacci never fails to impress. I've enjoyed this series, following FBI agent Atlee Pine's quest to find out what happened to her twin sister Mercy and, indeed, her mother and father. The difficult thing here, I am finding, is that if I give a synopsis of the story so far, I'll actually be spoiling the pleasure of you reading the previous books. That I don't want to do, although the author does bring the reader up-to-speed to enable this to be read as a standalone, to some extent.

I think it will have to be sufficient to say that this is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller where Atlee does find her sister Mercy - in extraordinary circumstances - with unlikely allies. But does she find her parents?

The hunt is over - but is this the end - or the beginning?

Only the author knows....................

The fourth and presumably final book in the Atlee Pine series, this could be read as a stand alone story but I really would recommend that any potential reader begins with book one, "The Long Road To Mercy"
Atlee Pine's twin sister Mercy was abducted from her bed more than 30 years ago. As soon as she was old enough Atlee joined the FBI and, along with her other cases, she has been looking for her sister ever since. In this instalment she finally gets some answers and discovers whether or not Mercy is still alive and, if so, what happened to her all those years ago.
There are some great characters in this story especially Atlee's 60 something assistant Carol Blum. Carol may not be an agent but she hasn't spent her whole working life in the FBI and learned nothing. I love the way she uses subtlety and empathy, skills she gained while raising 6 children and dealing with arrogant bureaucrats, to break down barriers and connect with both victims and villains.
This book sets a rapid pace from the first page and keeps it up throughout. I think I was probably as obsessed as Atlee with finding out what had become of Mercy so I found the book practically impossible to put down. I rarely read a book more than once so the fact that prior to starting this one I reread the previous three books in the series demonstrates just how compelling the story is. Even though Mercy's story has reached its dramatic conclusion I would love to see more of Atlee and Carol so I hope the author has planned future books featuring both.

#Mercy #NetGalley The final installment in FBI Agent Atlee Pine and her search to find her sister Mercy who was kidnapped 30 years ago. David Baldacci is a master of his craft and this book, like all previous books by this author, keeps you gripped from the first page. Lots of action and plenty of twists and turns leading to the finale and all the tying up of loose ends. Whilst it was brilliant to read this series and to see it through to its conclusion, I feel a little sad that there won't me more installments in this series! a very well deserved 5 stars!

Thank you to Pan MacMillan and NetGalley for this advanced copy of the latest Atlee Pine novel. Another brilliant story in the Atlee Pine series which keeps you gripped to the end. Following on from the cliff hanger at the end of the second book, we now move on to hopefully the end of Atlee's long lost search for her missing twin. It was fast paced and kept me gripped from beginning to end, with the will they or won't they dilemma. Highly recommended and 5 stars all the way.

Atlee Pine is a woman on a mission. An FBI agent, she is on leave to continue her search for her twin sister, Mercy, who was kidnapped when they were 6 years old. Along with her friend and assistant, Carol Blum, they are now chasing the best leads there have been in this desperate search.

This is a book I have been waiting to read for some time. Having followed Atlees story from the start, it always felt like it would be one of those the author used as a ‘retirement fund’ series keeping it running indefinitely. Well, as this is the last in this series, the story is being told and it certainly lived up to expectations for me. I’m glad I’ve read the other books in the series as, to me, it helps to build the tension and also understand the characters dynamics. I also really enjoyed the twists and turns, the different threads that the author pulled, in all directions it seemed, but so well intertwined the stories fell together seamlessly. The pace was perfect, adding to the tension, and making the ending more exciting. Loved it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the invitation to read this ebook early.

I have been looking forward to reading this since the unexpected reveal at the end of the last book. This is the last book in the Atlee Pine series where Pine hopes to finally find out what became of her sister Mercy after she was abducted 30 years before. Will Pine be successful in finding her sister? Did this book live up to my expectations? Definitely. I thought this was a very satisfying, fast paced and thrilling read, and one which grabbed my attention from the first page and held it right through to the last. The author certainly knows how to write an entertaining book, and one which is full of tension and suspense making me desperate to know what happens next. I loved all the different story threads, the action packed scenes and wondered how everything would tie in to the story. Overall, this is a well written and engaging book with an excellent plot line which raced to a conclusion with everything tied up nicely and had an ending that was very fitting for this series. I’ve really enjoyed the Atlee Pine series and am a little sad that this is the last book and I’d definitely recommend this book/series and David Baldacci as an author. Just loved this book, absolutely loved it.

When FBI Special Agent Atlee Pine was just six years old her twin sister, Mercy, was abducted and she was left for dead. For the last three decades Atlee has been searching for anything or anyone to tell her what actually happened and why. Now, after taking a serious leave of absence from her job, along with her assistant Carol Blum, there is a chance her quest is about to end.

After her time working with John Puller, Atlee knows where to go next, she just doesn't know how it will turn out. With the stakes at their highest the chance of failure isn't one she wants to contemplate but as she gets nearer to her goal it is a possibility which haunts her every move.

This has been a roller coaster of a ride from the time Atlee is advised to take some leave in the first book through to the final novel where things come to a conclusion. Once again Carol Blum is at her side and together they still make a pretty awesome team with an ever evolving relationship between them. David Baldacci is a master storyteller who can write physical contact like no other. The fight scenes in this book are heart stopping and easy to visualise.

After the three previous books I so wanted Atlee to continue to be the no nonsense, kick ass heroine of her universe and she absolutely was. Of course the reason for her mission has been clear from the start but how it would end never was. That doesn't change throughout this final book and, as she faces the risk of failure, danger from all sides, and the revenge of those desperate to keep their secrets safe, nothing is certain until the very end although even then there are still shocks to discover.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own own. I will miss Atlee Pine but this was an excellent end to her story and highly recommended.
