Exciting suspense mystery. I loved it, it had me hooked from the beginning. Told between two time lines. I do t normally like books like this but this one was the exception. Good group of characters brought together in the past and present. Great plot that played out well. The book was very well written. Esp for these colder darker nights

This was a really good book. I read it in just over a day. I loved how the story developed it was very interesting. I loved how it involved a group of snowboarding friends. I loved learning about a new sport, it was very interesting. The characters were great, realistic and it was great having characters that you love to hate. This book had a great medium pace throughout that built to a fantastic ending. There were plenty of unexpected twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. I definitely recommend reading this book if you enjoy a great thriller based on snowboarding.

So much praise goes out to the author and publishers for creating this unique and very interesting book. I will be looking out for more books by this great author.

Oh my gosh ! This was an amazing read. I was literally hooked from the start and have finished the book in one sitting. The story goes between 2 timelines which sometimes I find frustrating but it was done so well I loved it. One of the best action packed thrillers I have read in a long time. The twists and turns literally all the way through ! Can't wait for more from Allie Reynolds.

I loved this book so much! Allie Reynolds created the most amazing setting for her books and it is clear that she knows a lot about the subject of snowboarding. I thought the flashbacks were done really well, and I was constantly on edge. The secluded setting made for perfect reading and I loved every minute of this book!

I seriously loved this book!! Allie Reynolds is a former Snowboarding champion and that really came through in her writing, I don’t think any amount of research would have been able to convey so well the thoughts and fears of a professional snowboarder, yes, they could have wrote about the technical terms but I think you got an added depth to the story from her experience.
I really enjoyed the dual timeline, the present day where someone has called together a group of friends in order to find out what had happened to one of their group 10 years earlier. And 10 years earlier where we see the season leading up to the disappearance of Saskia.
Seriously, when you’re looking for who’s have a motive for killing her, you’re not going to be short of suspects. She was one ruthless, evil person. I’d have quite happily buried her under an avalanche by half way through the book.
I think I suspected everyone at some point in this novel. However, the ending was ultimately pretty satisfying for me.
If you liked The Sanatorium, The Guest List or The Chalet then I would highly recommend this. I’ll be looking out for more work by Allie Reynolds.

It took me a couple of chapters to get into this book but once I was in, it had me hooked and I was raring to read through “one more chapter” (which would usually be 3 or 4 more) to get further along in the story.

It is suspenseful and has you questioning all the characters, convinced they are the guilty one!

I liked the plot to this story and the who-dunnit theme to it. The story flowed well and it was easy to get lost in the pages. I could picture the characters and the environment they were set in as I read through, and enjoyed how the past unravels with each passing chapter.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. It is atmospheric, suspenseful and thrilling. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Milla is invited back to the French resort where she trained and competed in a snowboarding competition, 10 years ago; a reunion with people at a significant part of her life.

But soon things are not as they seem, one of the gang disappeared 10 years earlier and one of them did it.

One by one they are put against each other, trust is broken and the truth must come out.

But what really happened to Saskia all those years ago and is she still alive?

What a great read to start my year. An excellent thriller written by Reynolds that leaves the reader guessing and suspecting everyone!

This is written from the POV of Milla, but each character has their own depth, and one that you are made to hate; I was scared of this character and she is fiction (but I hope I never meet someone like this in real life). Reynolds writes for her readers allowing us to feel emotions through her writing.

I could feel the tension and the fear as I read this book.

I did not put this down and am so glad I started my year with this incredible novel!

This is truly an unstoppable read! And I loved every minute of it!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC, in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I’m quite partial to a locked-room mystery/thriller, particularly ones with a snowy setting, so I couldn’t wait to get my crampons well and truly stuck into Shiver.

The story is set over dual timelines: ‘then’ (10 years ago), and ‘now’. Well written; with short, bite-size chapters that flow seamlessly from one to the next.

The characters are well-rounded and relatable although none are particularly likeable. I thoroughly enjoyed the claustrophobic atmosphere and sense of foreboding throughout; I was immersed in the story from the start and gripped right until the end; I didn’t foresee any of the twists either - bonus!

Although a lot of the snowboarding terminology went straight over my head, it certainly didn’t stop me from enjoying a brilliant page-turner.

A fabulous debut novel from Allie Reynolds.

I absolutely loved this! My favourite genre is the locked room mystery kind of thriller and this one was perfect. We had the wintery atmosphere, perfect blend of characters and great twists and turns along the way, would highly recommend!

This book is cliffhanger and easy to read!

I liked the setting and how well researched the subject was. The plot was nice although you can guess more or less where it’s going. It might not have many twists and turns but I enjoyed a lot the author’s ability to build up the tension through the pages.

This is a proper winter-y thriller read and had just a great time reading it!

WOW What a cracking read! An original storyline that kept switching from past to present leaving you on a cliffhanger at the end of each chapter! Great read that kept me just wanting to read ‘one more chapter’ Highly recommended

All round yes for me. The synopsis gave me One by One by Ruth Ware vibes which I loved, and I wasn’t let down by this one! Being a former freestyle snowboarded and avid reader, Allie has perfectly combined their own passions to create one page turner of a novel!

It had me guessing the whole way through, I found myself not wanting to stop and I actually read this one in one sitting! If you love a tension filled thriller of a whodunnit… then what are you waiting for?! Grab a copy!

Thank you to Netgalley and Headline for the ARC!!

Shiver is a locked room thriller that is set up a mountain, after mysterious circumstances bring old snowboard buddies together for the first time in years. The book takes a little while to warm up, and I struggled with it initially but once we meet Saskia, My interest was piqued. The thriller aspect was done well enough, with the setting adding to the tension, but it was just missing something a bit for me. I couldn’t bring myself to care enough for most of the characters trapped up the mountain, no matter how far in I got.

Where it did shine though, was through the flashbacks with the character of Saskia. She was very well written and I loved all the chapters with her, and discovering her story. It had a decent but slightly predictable ending, to the main storyline, but I did enjoy the conclusion to the Saskia storyline.

Some good and bad in this one, but I really enjoyed the really interesting character and the unique elite snowboarding setting!

When Milla accepts an off-season invitation to Le Rocher, a cosy ski resort in the French Alps, She's expecting an intimate weekend of catching up with four old friends. It might be a decade since she saw them last, but she's never forgotten the bond they forged on this very mountain. Yet no sooner do Milla and the others arrive, they realise something is horribly wrong.

This is an atmospheric and chilling read where a group of professional snowboarding friends get together for a ten year reunion. The last time they were there, tragedy struck. The friends have went back to the Alps to pay their respects to a friend who had been missing for ten years and has now been declared dead.

The story has a dual timeline, the present day and ten years ago. The plot is complex with many things being revealed along the way. All the friends have something to hide. This is a well written whodunit that kept me guessing all the way.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Headline and the author #AllieReynolds for my ARC of #Shiver in exchange for an honest review.

Who would have thought a book about snowboarding and the people who do it would keep my attention and make me learn new terms. Well it did.

I really enjoyed it and it definitely was a snuggle down under the blankets type of book which really suited the English autumn. I did have to stop occasionally and google words or terms but that was okay.

I needed to continue and find out who and how and loved the way it got to the ending.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

A superb locked room mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat.
When five friends reunite after ten years in the French alps, the deserted lodge they are staying in becomes the scene of tensions, revealed secrets and ominous flashbacks. What really happened to their friend Saskia who disappeared all those years ago?
Filled with tension and vice-like in its grip, I would recommend it to all.
