I'm a sucker for a holiday romance and I've been saving this one for the holiday season. It was a great way to get myself in the holiday spirit - fun, quick and really enjoyable.

Mmm… this one was cute. But, wasn’t a TOTAL winner for me. Had some issues… felt like it totally dragged, felt like there were some unnecessary side plots, and I wanted to LOSE MY MIND due to the lack of communication.

HOWEVER, it has it’s charms! Set in a small, cozy English town! Years and years of history between this pair. Christmasy but some depth going on.

I enjoyed myself but I’m not saying you should rush to read it if you’re only selecting a few books for your holiday TBR.

Evie and Dan made a pact eight years ago under the mistletoe, If they were 30 and still single they would get married. Which neither of them took seriously even though they always had crushes on each other and Evie was Dan’s sisters best friend.

When they wake up on Christmas Eve the night before Evie’s 30th birthday in Vegas. Dan and Evie discover they are married and are now in honeymoon sweet surrounded by love. How did this happen and how quickly can they get divorced?

Evie hopes they can get it sorted and go back to being great friends before it gets too weird. Moving on is hard when you have feelings for the person you married. Throw a spanner in the works and another proposal or two and you’ve got a recipe for love!

Who doesn’t love a marriage pact with duel timelines, a trip to Vegas and a whole lot of family drama. This was third Lovett novel and another I loved.

Evie and Dan made a pact to get married if they hit 30 and they were still single, they will get married to each other. The night before Evie's 30th birthday, they do get married...while drunk... in Vegas. Now they have to navigate thie old and new feelinds about each oher and deal with ther new marriage mishap and some interesting family dinamics.

A short and easy read that gave me all the Hallmark Christmas movie feels but in book form. I do love a friends to lovers book and with the added thropes of one-night stand and marriage pact, this was a pretty engaging read.
The 3 stars is gived due to the book being mostly based on miscommunication between the main characters, which just went on for literal years, but it was still a quick and festive read.

I have been reading A LOT of Christmas fiction recently for the purposes of reviewing and so this had a lot to live up to and unfortunately this didn't do it for me.

Looking for a fun, easy read with holiday vibes? This is it.

It has a fun premise with a friends to lovers trope. It was a definite slow burn for the relationship and it kind of drug on for me. But overall I still enjoyed it.

The characters were so lovable and that definitely made up for the slower parts. Overall, a fun and easy holiday read.

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is reading holiday rom-coms! This one was my first one of the year and it was a fun, quick read to start the holiday season.

It starts out with Evie and Dan waking up to discover they have gotten married in a Ross and Rachel style Vegas wedding. After that, the reader is taken on a journey through flashbacks leading up to this moment and the events that happen after this moment.

I loved that a lot of it took place in a British country village (always a great setting for a Christmas story) and how that became the backdrop for the romance.

There were times that the best friend's sibling/friends to lovers story got a little repetitive. There are only so many different situations where they can pine for each other with obstacles getting in their way. Ultimately though, I still found myself rooting for the main characters to get together.

I also really liked the family relationships and how they shaped the characters. The side characters were well developed and helped contribute to a well rounded story.

Overall, I found it enjoyable! It may not be my favorite holiday rom-com ever, but I still found it entertaining and festive and a good read to start the holiday season.

Years ago Evie and Dan made a Christmas Eve pact that they would marry one another if still single at age 30. The book begins with them fulfilling that pact and flashing back to Christmases past as well as moving forward in the present to the fallout from their Vegas wedding. A slow burn, fun, Christmas romance!

The Mistletoe Pact by Jo Lovett

Dan and Evie make a pact on Christmas Eve (also Evie’s birthday) that they are both still single on her 30th birthday they will get married. The book starts off on that 30th birthday as they both wake up in Vegas having definitely gotten hitched. The story moves from there in both timelines, from that first night under the mistletoe to all the christmases in between, and what happens after their drunk wedding!

I loved the characters, especially Evie. And all the supporting characters were so fun and entertaining. My only issue with this one was that they took for freaking ever to get together. This is a very slow burn book, I needed a bit more excitement in the middle of the book and I would have enjoyed it more instead of getting a little frustrated and bored for a bit. But I still loved the idea of the book and was a huge fan of the characters.

This one came out in October! Thank you to @bookouture and @netgalley for my copy! I have read all of Jo Lovett’s books and I really love the unique and fun set ups of her stories.

Have you read any Christmas books yet this season?

Dan and Evie make a mistletoe pact years ago stating that they would get married with each other if both of them were still single when they reach the age of thirty.
After getting drunk in Vegas for Evie's 30th birthday, they wake up next to each other being a married couple.
But, surely they could just get a divorce and move on, pretend nothing happen at all.
The question is, can they ? when they have strong feelings each other after all these years ?

Mistletoe Pact has an interesting premise and the cover is so gorgeous with Christmas vibes that I finally decided to read this book. I was quite surprised to find out that the book took a different path than what I thought it was going to be.

The multiple POVs and timeline is also a nice touch to the story so the readers got to see the journey of how Evie and Dan's relationship grows. Evie and Dan are actually good characters, they're relatable and I understand their fear of loving someone too much due to their parents situation.

However despite all that stuff, I feel like I wanted something more out from this story.
One unfortunate thing from this story is how Evie and Dan just got a divorce like that without exploring or talk things out between them. Things might go in a different way.
This book has a lot of angst and jealousy pack inside; how Evie is pining for Dan for years but Dan never makes a move and how each of them brings another girlfriend/boyfriend that causes the other burning with jealousy but can't do anything.
It's frustrating I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to skip to the end to read the part where they finally admit their feelings with each other.

Overall, I didn't hate it that much but, it wasn't that great either. It was a good simple story. If you enjoy reading a very slow burn romance with lots of angst with a holiday setting then this book might be for you!

Actual rating: 3.5⭐

The Mistletoe Pact ist a great book for all fans of the friends-to-lovers trope which I definitely am.

In the book you meet Evie and Dan. Best friends who made a pact on a Christmas Eva eight years ago. If they weren't married by 30, they would marry eachother.
The book begins right after their wedding night and pulls you into a wild ride of a story.
It's super interesting how their friendship develops and how maaaaybe something more starts growing between them.

I really loved the slow-burn romance and how unique the story was. The author's writing is amazing and pulls you right in. It's been a little bit early for a Christmas novel and therefore it couldn't get me into the Christmas spirit but I'm sure it will when it's read in December or on cold winter days.

Definitely recommend if you want to read a cute romance during the cold days.

I will post my review on Instagram soon (@mythousandpages)

If you like Netflix and Hallmark Christmas movies, this is the book for you!

After agreeing on a fallback pact years ago, Dan and Evie find themselves in Vegas on Evies 30th birthday (which is also Christmas) and drunkenly make good on that pact at a Vegas chapel. The story takes us through the following year with flashbacks from past Christmas’ where we learn about their relationship and obvious chemistry… the feelings are clearly not as obvious to each other.

It was so frustrating to read Dan and Evies’ POV about their feelings toward the other while they both were clueless and never acted upon the feelings. Overall I enjoyed reading the book, it was light-hearted, funny It wasn’t super filled with Holiday references and themes which was nice since I read it a little earlier than I would usually pick up a Christmas book.

The perfect feel-good holiday read about two friends turned lovers and their pact to get married by 30 if they aren't with anyone else. A Friends' style Vegas marriage, that's full of heart and humor. This is a must-read for your holiday TBR. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy!

2.5*

I feel bad, the last few books I've read for review haven't really worked for me, and unfortunately neither has this one.

We follow Dan and Evie, best friends who accidentally got married while drunk in Vegas right before the story kicks off. We meet them the morning after, and while all sorts of awkward hilarious shenanigans should ensue, instead we don't really get much.

And that's kind of my general review for this story, it isn't giving much. I never became emotionally invested in any of it. Possibly because we didn't get to open with the actual wedding, which would have been amazing had we started the novel off thinking they were madly in love and it was great, only to be thrown an immediate curve ball and find out it was only because they were drunk in Vegas. But that is besides the point. The point is, I didn't care about what happened. At no point was I drawn in routing for one thing to happen, or another. I didn't care who ended up with who or what obstacles got in the way, because something was missing from the writing that gave the book emotional stakes.

I dunno, maybe I'm wrong, but it felt like everyone in ththe book was boring, which led to more disinterest while reading it.

Hopefully nobody else agrees with me and I'm just picky! Thank you to Netgalley and publishers for offering me a free e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book... and talk about a slow burnnnnnnnn. I love books told in dual perspectives like this one and love that it is told over the course of 10 plus years flipping back and forth between the past and present (it really pushes the character development and story up that much more). I'd definitely recommend this one for a rom-com lover looking for a sweet story to read over Christmas.

A lovely romance story with a splash of humor and characters you can easily fall in love with. I can't wait to read more by jo.

The Mistletoe Pact is a story of two people Evie and Dan that make a pact that if they are both single by the time they are 30, they will marry each other!

The book opens in present day where Evie wakes up in Vegas and is married to Dan but doesn't remember what happened the night before. It sounded like a cute and funny, if not predictable plot line, but unfortunately this one wasn't a winner for me.

The writing felt a little immature at times and the characters were not the most lovable.

Thank you Netgalley for the change to read this book in exchange for an honest review!

This was absolutely adorable! I loved this story and had to read it again when I finished. Perfect for the holiday season, it will warm your heart and make you so happy! A beautiful story with a strong heroine. I couldn't put this down!

Two young idiots get drunk and make a pact to marry each other at thirty if they are both still single. When Evie turns thirty she just so happens to be in Vegas when her friends brother Dan turns up. Two slightly older idiots get absolutely smashed and decide to make good on their pact, get hitched and have a night of good hot loving’. This is all fine until the next morning with the hangover to end all hangovers and a giant case of the fear.
What follows is a trail through time documenting how Evie and Dan got to this point when both of them have always fancied each other rotten but never done anything about it. It takes aaaaaaages, literally years, for them to admit they are hot for one another and always have been. Even after all the Vegas sex. I’ve read a few books like this recently, and I’m not a huge fan of this format. It takes much of the narrative tension out of the plot and is fairly frustrating. However it was a sweet story and I liked the characters and the family groups. Evie’s mother in particular. And it all worked out in the end hooray.
