A great read, full of surprises, tension and twists. I raced through it in just one evening as I literally couldn't stop reading it and just had to finish it.

To be honest, I think the blurb of this book needs a bit more. The main premise of the story is that Kate’s family experience a violent break-in at the their home that leave her, her husband and two children mentally scarred. Her husband books a beach vacation for them to try to connect as a family again after a terrible year, but everything is not what it seems. I also feel the bit about the daughter going missing is misleading as it is a small element of a much more unique story.

His Loving Wife is told from the present and from the time of the intrusion, until they meet for an explosive finale. I was enjoying the story but it felt more like a marriage drama than a psychological thriller. However, the last 25% caught me off-guard with twists and I flew through it.

I enjoyed the characters in this book, but they weren’t what made a good story. Instead, it was the isolated beach location and the tension the author builds up. Some of the scenes were intense and you could feel the terror of Kate and her family.

Literally gasped towards the end. This book is a slow rise to the reveals but it is all worth it. Definitely was guessing as the story unraveled and showed itself. Characters were well developed, the main character of Kate is strong but understandably questions that strength after her home is invaded by a jilted ex almost 18 years post breakup. While trying to mother a teenage girl and a preteen boy, Kate has her hands full and a head full of midlife questions of her worth, her family dynamics and what could have been. Definitely worth reading!

Told from two points in time: then and now. I really enjoy this type of story as you can’t stop reading. This was on the surface a pretty mediocre read….but then it gripped me and became a strong 4/5. I kind of guessed who the villain was. But that didn’t spoil it as I wasn’t 100%. Recommended!

When someone breaks into your house and threatens the safety of your family in the middle of the night, it is bound to have a huge impact on the relationships between you all, especially when it was your ex-boyfriend from college. What better than to escape on a secluded holiday...but is everything as it seems? Are they safe? A compelling read with a breath-taking twist which I wouldn't have guessed in a million years. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Unfortunately I was unable to read this because I couldn't download the app on my ancient ipad. I have since bought a Kindle but this title has been archived.

A suspenseful, psychological thriller, told in two time periods, a year ago which slowly catches up to the present day.
One year ago Kate was happily married to Andrew and the couple had two children together. When the family was asleep one night Kate hears a noise and thinks someone may be in the house. She wakes Andrew because she is certain someone's outside their door but Andrew freezes and does nothing while Kate confronts the intruder thinking only of their children’s safety. Now the family is trying their best to cope with the thought of that horrific night after all that had happened. Andrew has made plans to take the whole family on a vacation at the beach and then surprises them with an extended trip. But Kate still cannot forget that night a year ago when Andrew wasn’t there for their family. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.

Written in dual timeframes the book told me what had happened a year ago and present times. Though it was predictable, I liked the darkness that came with it. the characters were not very likable but twists kept me intrigued. An entertaining tale.

A fast paced plot and suspenseful from beginning to end. Told from two timelines - current and a year in the past. Kate and Andrew were happily married. Until a frightful night when Kate confronts a home intruder, while Andrew froze. The intruder is someone she knows from the past. Trying to put his family back together, Andrew books a surprise family vacation.

This is an unputdownable read filled with tension!

Miranda Smith created a fast-paced and gripping thriller with His Loving Wife. It is a great story that catches you from the start and will keep you entertained until the last page. It has all the right ingredients to make a solid story and it has some great twists that were exciting. Nicely done!

His Loving Wife was a scary synopsis; waking up to hear a man in your house who is making no effort to be quiet, and having to confront him to save your children. The aftermath has put a strain on the marriage and the family have gone away on holiday to try to relax, but all is not as it seems. What a twist! I did not see that one coming.

His Loving Wife started out full of promise and excitement, but fell short for me as it got muddled with side-plots, boring characters, and mediocre twist execution. While I enjoyed the premise of the book, I just didn't feel impressed by this book, but I think that says more about me as an avid, continuous thriller reader as I seldom venture out of the genre. I think if someone is a dabbler in thrillers, this could be a really good book for them!

This was a great thriller that had me a little scared in parts. I was sucked in right from the beginning and enjoyed the ride with the perfect amount of suspense and twists along the way.
Really enjoyed it.

His Loving Wife is a very dark and disturbing psychological thriller about family and the lengths one will go to protect their loved ones. The story is told from different timelines. There is what happened immediately after a home invasion and how life changed a year later. I thought I knew where the story was going, but it took an unexpected, unsettling and shocking twist. Describing it as sinister is putting it mildly. Miranda Smith definitely didn’t disappoint. The plot is fast paced and suspenseful from start to finish. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.

I found this book a gripping and twisted psychological thriller. I was completely hooked from the first chapter. It opens with a masked man breaking into Kate and Andrew’s home when they and their two children were in bed. Kate realises that the perpetrator was Paul, an ex boyfriend and who is also known to Andrew. Apparently he has become obsessed with Kate and has been stalking her. A year later Kate and Andrew are still coming to terms with this and their marriage is suffering. Paul was jailed for the crime it is due to be released any day. Andrew is still struggling and turns to an online support group for men who have been traumatised. However Kate hopes their relationship can be repaired when Andrew unexpectedly informs her that he has booked a holiday for the family. Unfortunately it turns out to be their worst nightmare as you realise that they are both keeping secrets from each other. The story is told in two timelines and it is a compelling read. It is a gripping and captivating book with so many twists and turns and with a totally unexpected ending. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
