Thank you to the publishers for sending me a copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this one. The banter and relationship between Vivi and Rhys but also Vivi and Gwynn was fantastic. I loved the premise of the story as well. Very easy read, perfect amount of smut as well. Perfect witchy read for Autumn!!

Would definitely read more from Erin Sterling in future.

The Ex Hex is a fun page turner filled with pure chaotic energy and immaculate witchy vibes. I adored the romantic elements - Rhys is a smooth, Welsh charmer and I honestly fell in love with him from his first appearance on the page. The chemistry he had with Vivi combined with the top banter and witchy goodness had me very quickly obsessed with this book!

This was such a cute and fast read.
It felt like it was set in such a charming town like how I imagine Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls.

I don't usually gravitate towards second chance romance plotlines but I did enjoy the main couple in this story.
With some flirty, sarcastic banter of course.

This would be a great read for anyone who wants to read something witchy/spooky for the autumn winter season but doesn't like anything super dark or heavy.
It's very much centred on the romantic comedy aspects than anything too sinister.
It reminded me a little of A Discovery of Witches but with a much lighter tone and ambience.
So if that was something you enjoyed, I'd definitely suggest picking this one up.

Ugh talk about an amazing, sexy, witchy rom-com! I found The Ex Hex to be the PERFECT October read! 🍂

Why I loved the book:

- Vivi is an amazing MC with a strong support network of incredible witches around her,
- her relationship with Rhys was somewhat of an enemies-to-lovers/second chance romance and I liked reading about how they reconciled after a falling out they had 9 years prior,
- there was definitely some steam there… 🍆👀
- Rhys is v swoon worthy 🤭
- I just loved the witchy Halloween vibes 🎃

Wow, what a fun read! Vivi is strong yet emotionally vulnerable, smart and sexy. Confident enough to say what she wants and honest about her insecurities at the same time. What a great character! Started off wanting to hate Rhys but I was completely drawn under his spell (no pun intended!)
While I enjoyed this, I would have loved to have had more of the back story and history towards the end, as it started to feel a little rushed.

Did I just sit down and read this in 3 hours?! You bet I did! Such a delicious page turner of a book. The Ex Hex is spooky, sexy, funny and super enjoyable. The premise immediately peaked my interest and boy did this book deliver. I loved every freaking page.

The story, the characters, the atmosphere, the banter and sexy moments were simply perfect. And Rhys is the literal definition of a perfect book boyfriend. Also the friendship between Vivi en Gwyn was great. The banter between Vivi and Rhys was amazing. Definitely a lot of laugh out moments. If I could erase my memory and read this for the first time again, I absolutely would!

So do yourself a favor a pick this one up. 100% recommend and 100% will read this again, and again.

The story follows Vivienne and Rhys. Years ago, the enjoyed a summer of love until Rhys dropped a bombshell and Vivi cast a curse. Back to charge the towns ley lines, it turns out that Rhys is, in fact, affected by Vivi’s curse and what follows is a maelstrom of magical disasters that Rhys and Vivi have to fix while also trying to undo the curse.

Welcome to The Ex Hex. Let your imagination go free at the door as you step into this supernatural adult romance. If you loved a Sabrina the Teenage Witch back in the day I think you’ll definitely love this. It’s not quite as whacky but the witches living among mortals aspect is there.

I think the potential rekindling of Vivi and Rhys’s old summer fling will they won’t they, is the chemistry still there romance would have made the book on its own. The great way that the element of magic is woven through every aspect of the story from references to muggles and how different kinds of magic can make you feel elevates the book to a five star read from me.

You might know Erin Sterling better from writing under her other name Rachel Hawkins. If you’ve read any of her books which would you recommend for us?

“Never mix vodka and witchcraft” 🔮🔮🔮

Witchy, funny, cute, I really enjoyed The Ex Hex! ✨

First of all, I need to move to Graves Glen ASAP because it sounds dreamy 🥰 I could really picture the beautiful, autumnal scenes 🍂

I also really liked our MC, Vivi, and her wonderful cousin and aunt…who I now wish were my relatives too 😅

I was rooting for Vivi and Rhys from the beginning and could feel their chemistry and connection 🧪

The ending gave me serious warm, fuzzy female empowerment feelings too 💪🏼

Overall, this was a loveable little autumnal witchy read with a sprinkling of spice…pumpkin spice, if you will 🎃😅 (the bad jokes are back, baby!) perfect for spooky season 👻

I received with thanks e-arc of The Ex Hex from Headline Eternal and Netgalley. Even though I have been gifted this book for review, all opinions are my own.

This is my review of The Ex Hex by Erin Stirling

Wow, this is the witchy romance I have been craving since I read the Sweep series many years ago. This gave me all the spooky and witchy vibes that I needed. This is also set in a small town. The romance was a great and enjoyable read. This was both funny and romantic. I cannot wait to read book 2 in the series. I will defiantly be re-reading this next Halloween. I loved this so much I brought a physical copy.

I would recommend it if you enjoy a good small-town romance that is a second chance and has a spooky vibe.

The Ex Hex is one I really enjoyed! It’s a quick, easy and fun read that flows well. I find it has a good balance of plot and romance and the Taylor Swift line right at the start is something that resonates deep in my soul🤣

The characters are witty and relatable. And honestly who can resist a Welshman? They’re literally my favourite type of man! With a cute little ending this was a lovely way to end my spooky season reads and start on my cosy reads!

This book was funny and sweet, not particularly deep, but for a fun Halloween rom com, enjoyable.

Rhys was one of the funnier male rom com leads I’ve ever come across, and the whole book was a glittery delight of witty remarks. I giggled out loud constantly; the talking cat, the internal monologues, the family dynamics were all delightful.

I expected this book to pull the old rom com go to (especially for the men folk) of “my dad is cold and I hate my whole family and they have absolutely 0 redeeming qualities” and was honestly surprised when both the dad and the brothers were likable and complex… alongside being dysfunctional.

Vivi, her aunt, and her cousin were all amazing. The whole aesthetic of their brand of witch and their brand of family was extremely enjoyable.

I think my biggest complaint is that since Vivi and Rhys were ex’s, we didn’t get that “getting to know each other” stage of the book. They talked about getting to know each other years back, but really the relationship was established - if not executed- from the start, which just makes it a little bit less fun?

Overall: super funny, good Halloween vibes, cute story.

I'd seen this book everywhere over bookstagram, so when I requested it from Netgalley I wasn't expecting to be contacted by the publishers inviting me to take part on the tour.

The first in a new 'Ex Hex' series, a fun paranormal romance & was the perfect read for Halloween.

Fun, lighthearted, witchy & mildly romantic. Enemies to lovers Vivienne & Rhys were both great characters, the setting was fantastic, with Halloweentown vibes & although it was an entertaining read, I wish we could hsve seen more witchiness, spells & hexing.

Many thanks to the publishers for my tour spot & gifted copy in return for my honest review.

Imagine Hocus Pocus mixed with a little Practical Magic and some steamy romance added just for good measure and you have the magical potion of The Ex Hex.

Lovers to enemies Vivienne and Rhys find themselves back in the same town, nine years after a bad breakup, for Founders Day where Rhys will recharge the ley lines. But with Rhys’ magic having gone all strange and weird they have to put aside their feelings and work together to save the town.

The quaint small town setting absolutely made this book for me along with some fabulous characters, especially Sir Purrcival the chatty cat whose favourite word seems to be dickhead and the smouldering, sexy Welsh witch Rhys.

But it is Vivienne who is the star of the show and their wonderful chemistry and banter was pure magic. Will these lovers turn enemies turn back into lovers or will the hex mean he is doomed to never again find a clitoris. Yes it’s that sort of book!

A light, fun read with a little smut and a lot of trouble. This was enjoyable from the start and what a perfect time of year to read about witches and magic.

Never mix vodka and witchcraft.

Nine years ago while dating Rhys Penhallow, Vivi Jones finds out that he is betrothed to another woman, so she deals with this as any teenage witch might, bubble baths, sad music, conjuring up the smell of his cologne, vodka, and a curse on the disgusting boy. Even though she knows not to mix vodka and witchcraft, she thinks the spell is harmless (will stop his hair from doing “the thing” and will make him unbelievably bad in bed). What she doesn’t know is that when he comes back to town a few years later, her ”little” spell will have put the towns magic system on the line, and she needs to help him fix it before it is too late.

THIS BOOK. When a book has me cracking up laughing by page 3, I know it’s going to be good, and I was not disappointed in the slightest!

I have been a lover of Charmed since I was a kid, so I had such high hopes for this witchy romance novel and it was literally everything I could have hoped for and more!

This included everything that I obsess over; hate to love, second chance romance, queer repression, the whole “we should not be together but I can’t take my hands off of you” trope, and I ate up every single moment.

I am so excited that this is part of a series and will definitely be picking up the next one!

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Well it is even worse if the woman rejected is a witch! Vivi met the gorgeous Rhys and all was good until he let slip that he is betrothed to someone else. Fuelled with vodka and hatred Vivi places a curse on him but it doesn't count when you use bath and body works candles.... Does it? Nine years later Rhys is back in town with a very important job to carry out on behalf of his family and cannot be distracted.

This book is EVERYWHERE! It pops up on my feed all the time. All the publicity, cool insta shots and reviews have done their job as I decided I must add this to my October tbr. I have been immersing myself in spooky and horror so this provided some light relief. I have never read a witchy book before so thought this would be the perfect one to dip my toe into.

As it turned this book was too cheesy for me. It was like Sabrina the Teenage Witch grown up. Not the cool Netflix version but the laughter track 90s version. Now I used to love that show but that was when I was a teen. All the stereotypical witch criteria are there talking cat, local witch run shop, school for witches, ley lines...which I'm sure other books in this genre have moved on from. I had high hopes for Vivi as a character at the start but 9 years later when her ex boyfriend turns up she basically just jumps straight back into his arms and follows him around hopelessly there was no real playing hard to get even.

The Ex Hex did provide some light relief in a spooky reading month but I can feel the forgetting spell working on me already and I will have no memory of it at all soon.

Vivi has a whirlwind summer romance with fellow witch Rhys of the famous Penhallow family. She falls head over heels with with him and is devastated when he reveals he is betrothed to someone else. Reeling from their breakup and his move from the states to Wales, Vivi curses Rhys with a spell. But you should never mix witchcraft and vodka when you are going through a break up. Nine years later, Rhys returns to Vivi’s town and her curse comes into action putting their rekindled romance and the town she loves in jeopardy.

I’d heard a lot of hype around The Ex Hex on Bookstagram and my interest was piqued. I really enjoyed reading this during spooky season, a few days before Halloween. It’s a cozy, comforting read. I enjoyed the sizzling tension and sweary banter between Vivi and Rhys. I could really picture the small town the book was set in and warmed to all the characters, invested enough to hope for a happy ending. Sure, some plot points were left hanging and some obstacles were resolved in no time at all with ease….but I didn’t care because it didn’t detract from my enjoyment. The Ex Hex cured my recent reading slump so it’s a winner for me.

Perfect from fans of the romance and fantasy genres. Thanks so much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest opinion.

A super cute spooky season read. I liked a modern romance about witches it felt really nostalgic but at the same time really fresh. I thought the author did a good job at setting the scene I want to live in that town so badly!

'Never mix vodka and witchcraft.'

This is such a feel good easy read! It felt like Gilmore Girls collided with Practical Magic, to give us a sexy and hilarious story, set in a quaint and autumnal town, with a little bit of spice! Thank you to Erin Sterling (aka Rachel Hawkins) for writing such a brilliant, seasonal read!

Vivienne is a great main character, very relatable and sweet, with a bit of a sassy side. I really felt for her with her heartbreak, breakups can be very difficult, and I’m certain that I would have cursed a few of my exes if I had the chance!

Rhys was definitely a charmer, and in some ways, I don’t actually think he did anything wrong per say; he wasn’t engaged/in a relationship with anyone else at the time, it was his dad looking to find him a match. However, we wouldn’t have this wonderful story if they hadn’t broken up like they did, so I’m not mad at it! The fact that he is welsh also added to the sexiness of his character, with his welsh pet name for Vivi getting my heart rate up!

I also loved the characters of Gwyn and Elaine, two very badass witches that really do have Vivi’s back when it comes to protecting her and the town.

When the curse started to affect the town upon Rhys’ return, there were some hilarious incidents that occurred, including their pet cat being able to talk! Him screeching ‘TREATS’ constantly was just amazing.

The romance itself was gorgeous, and the sexy scenes certainly got me all hot and bothered whilst reading them (who doesn’t dream of having a Rhys in the bedroom?).

The only reason I’m not rating this a 5 star, is because I felt like the actual danger in the story could have been focused on more, and the ending felt a little anticlimactic (Vivi and Rhys’ relationship seemed to be more important than anything else). However, this did not take anything away from the storyline itself and I still absolutely adored it.

It's been a long time since I could completely lose myself in a book and completely devour it. And for that, I'm really grateful and this author. I also think it's going to be the perfect Fall book for a lot of people. I don't like my Fall books to be that spooky, instead I love books that just capture the vibe and atmosphere and this book does just that. The witchy vibe in the small town was really good. I also liked the banter, and the ways the cursed just messed up their life. I wasn't crazy about the romance, mainly because I thought it was mostly physical. But it was interesting enough to keep me reading so I'm not complaining.
