This is the third visit to St Agnes with the midwives Ella, Anna, Toni, Gwen, Bobby and Jess. This story focuses on Toni and Bobby. Their story was just as good as the others, in fact I think this is my favourite of the series so far.

I really enjoyed this book because it featured a lot about Toni’s past and why she is the way she is. In previous books I’ve not really warmed to Toni but this story was definitely like the ice breaker. Not only that but it also featured a lot of Anna’s life and where she’s at.

I’m hoping that there will be a fourth book which I’m guessing there will be as we need to read more on Jess now.

This is the third book in the series, but I read it as a stand alone story. I found it an emotional and overall happy read, although sometimes I felt desperately sorry for Toni who was unable to move in after loosing her fiancé. The ending was predictable but still enjoyable. A great read for a cosy night in.

I really enjoyed A Winers Wish For The Cornish Midwife. Going back and meeting up with all the familiar faces at the unit. The main story throughout is about Toni and Bobby, Toni has been very badly hurt in the past and for reasons I’ll not say is unable to commit to Bobby 100% even although she knows he’s the love of her life.
It also continues the stories of the characters in her previous books which I enjoyed hearing about.
It’s a lovely book keeping the suspense up all the way through of will they won’t they.
Definitely a series I want to continue as I’m keen to find out where all the midwife’s life’s lead them.
Thank you Boldwater Books and NetGalley for an advance copy of this lovely book.

This is the third book in the Cornish midwife series but I read it as a stand-alone and that Didn't detract from the story at all. This is the first book I have read from this author and won’t be my last am going to go back and read her others. This was a lovely read and was emotional and heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. This was a story of lost love, grief and friendships and pregnancy and current love all rolled into one and brought together by the cosy cornish community midwifes of port Agnes. The characters were very well written and the emotions conveyed in this book jumped off the page and also discussed topics that a lot of people would be able to relate to in a very sensitive and enlightening way. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author now and hoping for more books in the Cornish midwife series so I can escape to port Agnes again.

This should say Corny midwife, not Cornish. I could not tolerate the mc in this book. Her "dedication" to her dead fiance and his parents was ridiculous and totally unrealistic. The ending was apparent from the beginning and it was just boring throughout. I would not recommend this book.

Fantastic read, can’t wait for the next instalment of all the Cornish midwives . This book centres on all the characters from the other books and is a great read. Loved the storylines and of course the great ending which feature in all Jo Bartlett books
Highly recommended

Lovely to have another return trip to Port Agnes and the Midwife team. This is the third book in the series although can be read as a standalone. This time we focus on Toni (whilst nicely catch up with old favourites).
Previously unsure of Toni and why she seemed a little standoffish, this time we learn her back story – a personal tragedy that has affected all future relationships, if she was to ever go public with one. We were aware of something between Toni and fellow midwife Bobby but never the true extent of things until this book.
Once you know why Toni is the way she is, and acts the way she does, it is understandable if a little frustrating. Bobby is wonderful; kind and caring and has already proved how very patient and understanding he is. Pushed to his limits, he starts to think that it’s time to move on even if that would be the hardest thing to do.
I enjoyed the slight change of pace with this one, the previous two books were quite dramatic and this is more an emotional journey.
Toni is a lovely character; my heart really went out to her but at times I just wanted her to wake up a little and see everything from another point of view. She keeps a lot to herself which is a shame as she is surrounded by the most supportive people.
I liked the progression of the other characters stories too and I am very keen for the next book so we can hear more of Jess’ story.
A heart warming visit to the Cornish midwives this time but another great book in a very enjoyable series. Well written and full of loveable characters. Cosy up and have a read!

This is a lovely, heartfelt novel about love, loyalty, and grief. Toni and Bobby have had a secret relationship for several years—although they love each other, Toni had suffered a terrible loss 5 years earlier, and the grief and guilt have left her unable to truly move forward, creating barriers of her own making. There are parts of this book that are sad and frustrating, but through it all there is a deeper layer of love and commitment. I was cheering on Toni and Bobby to find a way to make it work, for her to fully open her heart to love and a happy future!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

From the last book, you knew that Toni and Bobby have had something happening between them and it was nice to read more about what that was. You understood why Toni didn’t want anybody to know if her relationship with Bobby but still you felt like shaking her and telling her to stop over-thinking everything. The going back and forth for Bobby deciding what he’s willing to put up and then wanting to end things the next was a bit distracting.

It was lovely to see that Bobby realised what Toni was going through and that Toni finally told her parents and in-laws about Bobby without knowing if they had a future for sure.

I hope there’s another book as I really want to know what happens with Jess’s story and finding out why her ex is wanting to get back together, as well as if Dexter continues being in her life.

Highly Recommend This Series.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Having read the first two Cornish Midwife books I was delighted to receive a copy of this one and I enjoyed it as much as I did the other two. I love being back in the town of Port Agnes and hearing all the stories of the midwives. I want to know what happens with them all though so I'm really hoping for more!

It was so good to be able to catch up with the midwives of Port Agnes once again. This time we are focusing on Toni, and her really badly kept secret relationship with fellow midwife Bobby.

But what we as readers were unaware of until this book is just why Toni has been determined to keep Bobby a secret and once that is revealed, it makes some sense, even if it does feel like Toni is willing to throw away her future happiness because of it.

Given how dramatic the previous two books where, I must say this felt a lot calmer, more focused on all the midwives stories, and less on some of the births. It's allowing us a deeper connection with all the ladies plus Bobby, and I know I'm already eager for Jess' story in the next book.

There is a lot of angst from Toni about what she should do for the best, and a lot of the time I wanted to shake some sense into her, but what is clear is there is a lot more too her than the spiky person she may have been perceived to be before.

This can easily be read as a standalone novel but honestly the series is so lovely, why not go back and join it from the start.

A really enjoyable third book in this series that I hope will continue for a long time.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I loved the first Cornish Midwives book, and somehow missed the existence of the second until I started reading this one and looked it up before continuing. Once I'd caught up, this lived up to the joy of the previous two, although I found it a little harder to get into. The characters were well written and I was very invested in the storylines. I'm already excited for the next novel in the series.

This a great sequel to The Cornish Midwife. I really enjoyed entering this world and the characters have become to feel like family. I really enjoyed the Christmas spin on this one as well.

Brand new from the top 10 bestselling author of The Cornish Midwife. Perfect for fans of Call The Midwife
A secret love…

As winter descends on the coastal town of Port Agnes, midwife Toni Samuels’ mood is as dark as the winter clouds that roll in. Toni loves her job as a midwife, but her private life is falling apart. Because Toni is keeping a secret– a relationship with fellow male midwife Bobby that no one can ever know about.
Toni and Bobby have a great chemistry. I really loved the secret relationship and how that developed throughout the novel to its ultimate happy ending. Very cute! Thank you Boldwood!

Apparently this is the third book in this series but although I hadn't read the first two, that didn't spoil my enjoyment at all. As I love Call the Midwife I was looking forward to curling up with this story and indeed I read it all in one go. I enjoyed the book but unfortunately being a somewhat feisty person myself I found it hard to relate to the main protagonist, who was a little too passive for me. I was happy that things turned out ok for her in the end but I was irritated at her allowing a ridiculous situation to go on for years. Having said that I didn't dislike the book, just felt that this lady needed more gumption!

I’m loving the Cornish Midwife series from Jo Bartlett, and it was wonderful being back in Port Agnes, this time with Toni and Bobby’s story.
Full of love and hope but also grief and misunderstandings- this is an emotional read, and Jo Bartlett has again written sensitively and sympathetically as we live with the wonderful midwife community. With the stunning idyllic Cornish setting, it’s a brilliant story to escape into.

This is a warm, loving and absolutely delightful book. I couldn’t put it down and when I was finished I had a smile on my face. The storyline is wonderful and the characters are easily likeable. While this book centres on Toni, a British midwife, it also includes side stories on the other midwives. The setting sounds so picturesque and I would love to live in a community like the one is this book. This is a great book to read while curled up with a cup of tea and a soft blanket. One might say it is a typical romance novel but I think it’s more than that as the characters make you feel good and they would be a great group of friends. Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the invitation to read this book.

I was interested in reading this book because the life of a midwife is usually so interesting and inspirational. Though this is part of a series, I had not read any of the others.
I have to say that it fell flat for me because the main character was so insipid and though I first felt sorry for her for the way she lost her first love, I found the aftermath of that to be ridiculous. Which it is and that gets resolved at the very end, but the whole journey of agony to that point was beyond belief and overdone. I would have liked to have gotten to know some of the other more interesting characters in the book, but the main story line left me bored as it was just too predictable. That said, I do believe there are many romance readers that will love this, sappiness and all.

Although I believe this is a book in a series, i have read it as a stand alone book and this did not seem to distract from the storyline.

Whilst we follow the personal and professional lives of a group of midwives working in St Agnes, the book focuses on Toni. Committed to her job, she hides a sad secret from her past when her fiance unexpectedly died. She made a promise at that time to his parents, that she would always hold him in her heart. However this has been to the detriment of her own happiness. Bobby, a fellow midwife, is in love with Toni and they have been having a secret relationship for the past 3 years. Bobby is now very fed up of the secrecy and wants to make things permanent. However Toni can not forget the promise she made and at the expense of her own happiness, ends the relationship. Can she find peace wirhin herself to reconsider jer decisions.
A lovely warm read, interlaced with babues being born and the developing storylines of the other midwives.
Worth a cosy, autumn evening read.
