This was an enthralling and gripping read that had me hooked from start to finish. I loved the depth within Beverley, the secrets that lie within her keep you on the edge of your seat and tense. Loved it.

When Beverley’s eight year old son disappears from her yard she needs the police’s help to find him. She needs to be careful with what information she gives them because she is hiding secrets of her own. This book kept me reading deep into the night. I enjoyed the many twists as well as the multiple POVs. I thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I've read a few books by Nicole Trope, and I've come to love her storytelling of complex domestic thrillers filled with deep secrets and dark pasts.

The Mother's Fault is narrated by a mother who is trapped in a web of lies, desperately trying to protect her eight-year-old son, Riley, from a painful truth. The tension and suspense build steadily as we are drawn into her world of secrets and hidden fears. Nicole Trope masterfully weaves a narrative that keeps you guessing and leaves you eager to turn the next page. I had put off reading this book yet found myself reading it in two sittings. It was a fast and satisfying read.

What truly stands out in this book is the complexity of the characters. Beverly's inner turmoil and her unwavering love for her son are portrayed with great depth. Without giving much away, we rapidly learn that she is hiding a secret about Riley's past. Slowly, the truth is revealed but not before finding a few red herrings that make the reader question everything they think they know about this mother-son duo. Riley, the young boy, is a heartwarming and endearing character, making you root for him throughout the story. The author skillfully delves into the emotional layers of her characters, making them relatable and real.

The mystery at the core of the plot is both intriguing and haunting. The arrival of mysterious gifts in the mailbox adds a chilling element to the story, and the question of what really happened eight years ago keeps you engaged until the very end. The detectives' probing questions add an extra layer of suspense as we wonder whether the truth will be revealed and what the consequences might be. Also, the suspects introduced at the beginning of the book make for a very satisfying revelation.

My only reason for not giving this book a full five stars is that there were moments when I wished for a bit more depth and exploration of certain aspects of the story. However, this minor qualm doesn't diminish the overall enjoyment I experienced while reading it.

Gripping and twisty. and I couldn't put it down. I've become a big fan of the author as she never fails to write a great read that keeps you hooked.

I absolutely loved this book, I could not put it down. I loved everything about it.

I'm a huge fan of Nicole’s books so knew I'd be in for a treat when I read this. I loved the story which was perfectly written. I literally could not put the book down, there were heart racing moments, shocking moments, wow moments and there was even a shocking twist within the story that I totally wasn't expecting or saw coming. The characters were all well portrayed and flawlessly written and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them all.

If you haven't discovered this authors books yet, then please do not delay anymore as I can highly recommend her books as truly brilliant edge of seat gripping reads.

A good mother, Beverly has always been. She did, however, have a secret. Quite a large one. She withheld one from Riley, her son, who was the most significant person in her life. This story is told from the perspectives of Beverly, Riley, and an unknown narrator, setting the stage for Nicole Trope to write another gripping psychological thriller. Riley, an 8-year-old kid of single mother Beverly who is cherished by both his mother and her lover Ethan, begins to receive mail-order gifts at home. Beverly pushes Ethan away because she doesn’t want to reveal her numerous secrets to him or risk his finding out. One day, Beverly is in the kitchen cooking and observing Riley from the kitchen window while he plays in the garden. He appears for a split second and then suddenly disappears.

I adore how unpredictable and misleading this one is; it keeps you on your toes. This book is perfect for me because I keep thinking I have it all figured out in my head before another curved ball throws me for a loop. You’ll be filled with questions throughout the entire book because the plot is so engaging and fast-paced. Even while the twists and family turmoil weren’t exactly secondary to the plot, they melted together as a whole, which helped to diffuse my angst. Beverly was doing the best job she could as a parent, and she adored Riley with no qualms about what Riley was losing out on. She also possessed the guts to take the necessary action. Riley was a brave and admirable young man.

The fact that there were so many red herrings in this novel made my brain spin nonstop, which was something I appreciated. Additionally, I enjoyed the narrative as seen through Riley, Beverly, and the unidentified neighbor. In my first book by this author, I thoroughly enjoyed being taken along for the ride. In the end, everything made sense as the parts came together! Violence, familial trauma, untreated mental illness, and physical and emotional abuse of children could all serve as trigger warnings for readers. Readers who like suspenseful home thrillers with lots of twists and turns should check out The Mother’s Fault.

Nicole has done it again, no surprise though really, she’s fantastic and never fails to disappoint…another great offering from her that had me turning pages into the early hours, cannot wait for her new book!!!

What a gripping story. This had my jaw on the floor and my heart beating like crazy. I absolutely could not put this one down. I gave it a second chance and boy am I glad I stuck with it. You won't regret picking this book up.

This was an enjoyable thriller. Lots of twists and turns that I didn't see coming! Kept me hooked all the way through.

Definitely a recommended read.

This book is told by 3 perspectives. It had me engaged the whole way through. I loved the unpredictability and I had a huge connection with the characters.

I love Nicole Trope and this book didn’t disappoint. Always a twist and turn and leaves you wondering what’s coming next. A great read and highly recommended.
